Annual GRANTS AWARD K

eynsham Town Council’s Annual Grant Awards will be open to applications from 1st April. The Town Council is prepared to consider applications for financial assistance from properly constituted: (a) Clubs and societies; (b) Voluntary bodies and associations; (c) Non-profit making organisations; (d) Charitable bodies. In order to qualify for assistance, applications must demonstrate a direct benefit to the Keynsham Town area, or any part of it, or all or some of its residents. In addition, the direct benefit accruing must be commensurate with the expenditure to be incurred. Local groups that are affiliated to regional or national organisations will qualify provided the local group is required to function substantially as an independent financial unit. The primary intention of the Town Council’s grant scheme is to support new events/projects/items in the town and the maximum grant payable to any one organisation will be £1,000.

New - £10,000 for Environmental projects In addition to the £20,000 set aside each year for community grants, the Town Council is allocating a further £10,000 to support environmental projects that will have a direct benefit to the Keynsham Town area. Funding timetable and key dates in 2020. 1st April – 1st May: Application packs available. Friday 15th May: Closing date for applications. Tuesday 2nd June: Applications considered by Grants Committee.

Wednesday 3rd June: Applicants are notified of the Town Council’s decisions. Wednesday 15th July: Grants Presentation Evening (7.00 p.m. for 7.15 p.m. start) in Space (above the library) Keynsham. It is anticipated that the successful applicants or their representatives will attend. Just Some of the Grants awarded in 2019 • Butterflies Haven - To support children/young adults with autism spectrum disorders & their families through weekly sessions tailored to their development needs £750.00 • Citizens’ Advice Bureau B&NES - Drop in session on Monday at Keynsham One Stop Shop - Debt advice, money management & welfare benefits. To purchase laptop & Microsoft office license for volunteer advisers £610.00 • Friends of Manor Road Community Woodland - To purchase wildflowers (for nature reserves), an owl box includes installation, two litter pickers, heavy duty gardening gloves, secateurs and a first aid kit £500.00 • Keynsham Community Fridge - Funding to purchase basic food handling equipment, to food handling training for volunteers, cost of utilities, legal liabilities and to monitor safe operation to be run from upstairs in the Temple Canteen initially £1000.00 • Keynsham Hockey Club - To continue the development of Keynsham Hockey Club’s flourishing academy section for boys and girls aged 4 - 16 £500.00 • Keynsham Wombles - To purchase 3 sack trucks with attached bins, litter grabbers, gloves, Hi Viz jackets, bag hoops & License for Gum Drop bin £600.00
