Day One

With current economical pressure, companies face a variety of changes and challenges that will have a profound impact on organisational dynamics and performance. In many ways, these changes will decide who will survive and prosper into the next decade and who will not.

Overview Of Business Ethics • What is business ethics? • Why business ethics?

While these challenges must all be met by organisations, managers are concerned about survival and competitiveness in the future, building customer value and profitability. High standards of organisational ethics can contribute to: 1. Profitability by reducing the cost of business transactions 2. Building a foundation of trust with stakeholders (i.e. Customers, employees, suppliers, and public) 3. Internal environment of successful teamwork, higher levels of efficiency in operations, higher levels of commitment and loyalty from employees 4. Higher levels of perceived product quality, higher levels of customer loyalty and retention, and better financial performance maintaining social capital that is part of an organisation’s market-place image This course will focus on the challenge of ethical behaviour. More specifically, it will: 1. Highlight the role of ethical behaviour in preserving business competitiveness, advancing technological competences, improving quality of products and services as well as elevating employees’ motivation and commitment 2. Discuss some reasons why unethical behaviour occurs in organisations 3. Highlight the importance of organisational culture in establishing an ethical climate within the organisation 4. Present some suggestions for creating and maintaining an ethically-oriented culture 5. Feature business ethics competences required for organisations to meet the international standards of business economy and development A meta-analysis of 82 studies by Allouche and Laroche 2005, found conclusive evidence that corporate social responsibility has a positive impact on corporate financial performance.

Day Three Corporate Ethical Codes Group exercise: Learn how to develop ethical code and code of conduct for your department / organisation • Fraud & Abuse: Prevention, Detection And Response
