Course Introduction Excellence in business depends on getting the right information, in the right amount, to the right people, at the right time, to make difficult decisions. Information must be presented in a clear and simple manner to the decision makers in management so that timely action can be taken. The emphasis today in management is on performance reporting for decision making, not just the operational factors but enterprise wide performance factors, such as key results indicators and key performance indicators, coupled with competitive intelligence, market intelligence, and industry intelligence. Methods and tools are evolving rapidly to the point that what was good yesterday is no longer considered best practice today. The new methods and tools include emerging management disciplines, mobile dashboards, executive tablet briefing books and 3-dimensional reports to analyse the business. Business Intelligence now requires more than just rolling up data for senior managers. Business data must be delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner to solve today’s pressing business issues. If not, managers may make the wrong decisions resulting in costly and inappropriate actions.

The in-house training division of IIR Middle East

Managing the Business Intelligence environment requires data governance which is important for providing consistent and valuable reporting. Business Intelligence now exists across the entire business and leverages the most recent innovations to accelerate action, such as big data and social media. In addition, Business Intelligence requires a view to the future including new technologies and BI architectures that must be leveraged to provide value today and sustained value into the future. A BI environment is required that is ready to absorb new Business Intelligence methods and technologies and discard the old methods and technologies without impacting the customer.
