Paul has a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Lancaster University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and Training from the University of Huddersfield as well as a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages from Trinity College, London. Rita Riordan has over 30 years of engagement as a business and technical consultant to global 100 and 500 corporations in financial services, manufacturing, transportation, professional services, telecommunications, computer software, and pharmaceutical industries. She has been an adjunct professor for 20 years, and has published over 50 papers in professional and industry journals worldwide. She is a certified business advisor for the US Department of Commerce, guest lecturer and seminar teacher on topics of business processes and operations management, customer relations, technical implementations, business analysis, human resources development and training curriculums, business infrastructure planning, and project delivery methodologies. She was a member of the Bell Laboratories team which won the international Franz Edelmann Award for Innovations in Business Operations Analysis, awarded by The Institute for Management Sciences. Module Overview In an increasingly competitive market it is now very important to select the right people for the role in your organisation. Interviewing is the ability to ask the right questions which will allow you to reveal a person’s strengths, weaknesses and suitability for a position. This module is practical and engaging – combining theory with many opportunities to practice and apply the learning. It combines high-level interpersonal skills with planning and preparation skills to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the person and the interviewing process. Interviewing can be conducted in a variety of styles and approaches. This module will give you a clear understanding of all methodologies and will enable you to identify which one will be suitable for your organisation. Business management reports are used to convey vital information and to analyse all aspects of the internal and external business environment. Understanding the requirements for construction and production of management reports is critical knowledge and a skill for all managers.

Module Overview Well-written and well-constructed business management reports are an essential element of business communications. Informational and analytic reports provide vital decision support for managers and executives. It can be challenging to compose reports that motivate by clearly stated aims and objectives, that clarify information, data, and facts, that propose valid findings and conclusions, and that propose logical actions and recommendations. This module will give you the important knowledge and skills to create concise, complete, targeted reports required throughout all businesses. In this module, you will understand how to establish the scope and depth of required reports. Learn to identify primary and secondary audiences and write specifically for them. Quickly determine sources for data and information, and choose the appropriate analysis method for them. Choose the report template that is most appropriate for the report purpose. Compose the body of the report using the correct rhetorical organisation format. Learn how tables of contents, glossaries, and appendix supporting documents are assembled.

Module Methodology This module is highly interactive with instructor-led information presentations, writing workshops, discussions, and the construction of an individually pertinent business report.

Day Five Developing The Report Content • Differentiating analytic and informative report requirements • Formal structures for lengthy reports • Choosing the appropriate analytic methodology for reports • Identifying sources for information and data within the organisation • Presenting data with graphic references and explanations • Logical and rhetorical organisation of information

Exercise: You will format the context of a recommendation report, an analysis report, and an evaluative report based on two case studies
