Course Requirements And Certificates Delegates must meet two criteria to be eligible for an IIRME/ GW Certificate of Completion for a course: 1. Satisfactory attendance – delegates must attend all sessions of the course. Delegates who miss more than 2 hours of the course sessions will not be eligible to sit the course assessment. 2. Successful completion of the course assessment. Delegates who do not meet these criteria will receive an IIRME Certificate of Attendance. If delegates have not attended all sessions, the Certificate will clearly state the number of hours attended.
Who Should Attend? This course is designed for those responsible for strategic management, finance management, business analysis, group accountancy, corporate development, operations, business development and planning, business performance, planning and budgeting, marketing information, research and development, business systems management, business project management, business information and corporate planning.
Alan Mellor has been engaged in management training since 1997. He has experience in finance and general management, gained at a senior level. His courses contain a blend of commercial insight, systematic thinking, and an understanding of people, delivered in a very informal and common sense way, with an emphasis on adding value. Alan has over 30 years’ industrial experience in power distribution and manufacturing businesses. He held a number of financial positions and was for a period of nine years the Group Financial Director of JCB. His career at JCB also included a period of four years as Managing Director of JCB-SCM, a joint venture company owned by JCB and Sumitomo of Japan. Responsibilities included: managing a start-up manufacturing operation by forming an effective team of British and Japanese personnel; establishing a European supply chain to produce Japanese designed components; managing shareholder and supplier relationships with Japanese companies. Alan brings international experience to his courses. He has spent considerable time doing business in Japan, North America, and throughout Europe. Alan attended Harvard University Business School in 1989 and completed their International Senior Management Programme, which concentrates on the development of strategic analysis and leadership skills.
Course Introduction Strategic planning is not a product but a process. It requires the ability to work closely with a management team, to provide a framework for exploring options, to challenge conventional thinking, and to build consensus around a pragmatic plan. Too often, strategies are formulated from management assumptions developed around a conference room table in the absence of solid market facts. But that does not tell you how your business can perform better than your competitors. Neither does it validate what external, environmental factors in the GCC affect your business. This course explains how the strategic management process can be used to analyse environments, industries and organisations, and how to use that analysis to make sound strategic choices. You will examine how to build a cohesive strategy across an entire organisation to ensure that all areas are aligned and moving in the same direction. When the analysis has been done and the choices have been made you will move on to the implementation of the strategy. You will explore the tools and techniques that you can use to achieve strategic change and consider the role of leadership in the change process. To ensure that you acquire theoretical concepts, practical analysis and problem solving skills, this highly interactive course includes presentations, group discussions and case studies designed to illustrate the successful use of business plans in improving business performance.
