He was an Akita, a Japanese breed of dog known for being loyal to their owners. Hachiko was a faithful friend to Professor Ueno. Every afternoon, at three o’clock, Hachiko could be found waiting at the train station to greet his master on his return from work. This daily routine continued until the professor suddenly died. But Hachiko didn’t understand that the professor was not going to return and for years he arrived at the train station at three o’clock every day and waited to greet his master. Hachiko kept this up until his death, ten years later. Like Hachiko, we are waiting to meet our best friend, Jesus. The Bible tells us a lot about that wonderful day when Jesus will return to meet us. What promise does Jesus give us in the Bible? “I and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3 Is this really true? Look up Psalms 89:34 to see. Can we know exactly when Jesus will return? “But of that day and hour angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Matthew 24:36
