Abstract This project deals with the system to monitor and control the ON and OFF status of the electrical appliances involved in home systems through HMI (Human Machine Interface) integrated PLC. The existing system has mechanical switches which are quite unsafe to use and the systems does not have the option to change the modes of operation. In this proposed system, lower energy consuming devices are used and operated at different modes according to human needs. Here all the appliances are controlled with the help of sensors and they are user programmed through HMI integrated PLC. Thus the signals from the sensors latches the PLC [1] inputs and the output of the PLC activates the output relay and thus lights, fans, solenoid valve and buzzer are controlled and worked effectively. INTRODUCTION

Home automation is the residential extension of building automation. It is automation of the home, housework or household activity. Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, Fan, overhead water level control, hand wash system, theft alarm, gas leakage detection to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security[2]. Home automation for the elderly and disabled can provide increased quality of life for persons who might otherwise require caregivers or institutional care. The main objective of this project is to make a smart home with the help of sensors and lower energy consumption devices. To access the control of home appliances through One Touch Screen (OTS) and make the work simpler using PLC integrated with HMI. To make homes, safe & secure and automation through various modes of operation. To prioritize the controls as fully and semi-automated on need based. II. PROPOSED SYSTEM  Gas control  Water supply control  Overhead tank water level control  Human sensed lightings and fan  LED shadings  Theft Alarm  USB charging These are the controls being implemented in this project. This are being implemented via HMI integrated PLC. The advantage behind our proposed system will be,  Safety and Security.  Ease access for controlling the home through OTS (one-touch screen).  No mechanical switches for appliance control.  Automation through various modes of operating states via OTS control.
