Driven by fashion, ambition and authenticity, Meghan Currie is the founder and creative mind
BEHIND THE WHEEL OF THE VANCOUVER FASHION TRUCK After experimenting with careers that didn’t fulfill her, Meghan Currie’s journey brought her to a place where it was time to create a business of her own... a brand based around being authentic and real. The founder of Vancouver Fashion Truck shares, “I actually can’t function in this world any other way, which is why I had to ‘follow my feel good’, and here I am!” So what exactly lead her down the path of opening up her very own niche business – a chic boutique on wheels? “I worked as a Dental Hygienist for 2 years before deciding it wasn’t for me. I craved more creativity, flexibility, and diversity. I am so grateful for that time in my life though, as I learned what was most important to me. I didn’t just want to survive and ‘get through the week’, I wanted to actually LOOK FORWARD to work and have fun. After all, we spend about 75% of our lives at work, why would we spend all that time doing something we didn’t enjoy?” During this time Meghan also became a certified Martha Beck and Mind-Body Life Coach, which was actually what helped her realize the healthiness of having fun, and that she could design her life any way she wanted. She quickly fell in love with coaching after working with a Life Coach who helped relieve some chronic body pain she was experiencing at the time. After offering some one-on-one coaching as a business she realized it didn’t ‘light her up’ in the way she had hoped, but says the training was essential for her own personal development and still uses the tools learned on a daily basis. @ilikeherstylevancouver | 2018 SPRING STYLE GUIDE

And so the search continued for work that felt like ‘play’. Meghan took a job at a women’s clothing and gift boutique. She allowed herself this period of time to ‘figure out her next steps’. Fast forward 5 years – she found herself in the same place and still loving it, but now she was working as the manager and running the store as if it were her own. “But it wasn’t my own, and over the years I had proved to myself that I had the passion and entrepreneurial drive to open a store of my own. “I saw that the landscape of retail was changing, and realized that opening a brick and mortar store was getting riskier as more people shop online now than ever. With that said, I knew that people still craved a personable shopping experience, so I would have to do it differently – more conveniently and more fun.” The idea of Vancouver Fashion Truck was born! “I held myself accountable by telling a few people my plan. And then I got excited and told more people. And then there was no going back. I started writing my business plan. It was scary but it was more exciting, and what I’ve learned is when something feels even just a tiny bit more exciting than scary, you’ve got to do it.”
“
STRIPES ARE BIGGER THAN EVER THIS SPRING, AND I’M STILL LOVING THEM! ALSO LAVENDER TOPS, FRINGE EARRINGS, AND STRAW BAGS WITH CUTE POM POM DETAILS! Meghan on Spring Trends
”
WHAT CAN’T MEGHAN LIVE WITHOUT? Deep breathing. Once I learned how to actually breathe (why don’t they teach us this stuff in school?!) it was a game-changer for me. It is the first tool I go to when I am feeling stressed, overwhelmed and/or anxious and it instantly grounds me and allows me to think clearly and carry on with less stress. I am so passionate about mind-body awareness!
“
THE MOST FUN PART OF LAUNCHING MY BRAND ...was having a clear vision and seeing it come to fruition. It’s amazing when you take a baby step each day how much you can accomplish over several months! I sort of shocked myself!”

3 LESSONS FROM THE GARDEN TO HELP YOU THRIVE THIS
SPRING
By Tanya Fruehauf MA, CSAT, CCC
IN WINTER,
the inner and outer landscape changes. Months of accumulating bad habits and emotional clutter leaves you with too many broken promises to count.
IN SPRING,
we trade in our winter mittens for gardening gloves. Here’s how to take inspiration from the garden to thrive:
catalyst-counselling.com
1. PRU N I N G Healthy gardens need pruning. The trick is to cut in the right places. Spring is the perfect time to sharpen your shears when it comes to sugar, screen time, alcohol, Netflix and negative thinking. 2. W EEDI N G
Weeds are problematic because they run rampant and overstep boundaries. Unhealthy relationships and negativity are human weeds that take up unnecessary space in your life. Decide what garden invaders you need to be rid of!
3. PL A N TI N G Creating your garden is not just
about getting rid of what you don’t want – it’s about deliberately planting what you want to see grow. This takes vision, intention, and nurturing. You’ll need to dig in and get your hands dirty – but there’s little a good manicure can’t cure!
H I ! I ’ M TA N YA and I’m in the business of helping people change for the better. Call me for a complimentary 15 minute consultation to explore how you can change your internal landscape.
