Through gifts from our generous donors, we are grateful for the opportunity to recognize the hard work and commitment these young people have put forth.
Although the celebration format looks different this year, our well wishes and congratulations certainly do not. In this year’s award ceremony, you will get to learn a bit about their many accomplishments. The Illinois 4-H Foundation believe more youth of all backgrounds should have access to every learning pathway 4-H offers. We provide funding for all 102 counties in the state of Illinois. We are grateful to our over 1,400 donors who generously provided gifts over $800,000 in the past fiscal year. The Foundation continues to grow, and, as a result, we are able to meet the funding needs that our state and local 4-H programs are in need of to reach even more youth in Illinois.

Through 4-H, she has expanded her horizons by hosting exchange students from Japan and traveling to Japan and Costa Rica through 4-H International. She has a passion for cooking and has shared this knowledge with younger 4-H members through a co-teaching role at Jr. Chef Cooking Camp and served as an election judge. “4-H means the opportunity to learn new things. I have learned and experienced a variety of things that I may not have experienced.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Caroline plans to study Elementary Education and minor in Spanish. She aspires to teach abroad or in a bilingual classroom.

She serves as a leader in her club, county and as a member of the Illinois 4-H Youth Leadership Team. She improved her leadership skills while attending the National 4-H Congress and by planning and facilitating at the Jr. Leadership Conference. “4-H has provided me with great leadership skills 4-H provided me with direction as to what I wanted to do with my life. I have made many lifelong friends from across the State of Illinois.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Hannah is taking classes at Southeastern Illinois College and West Kentucky Technical College and will graduate with an Associates in Art and Science. She will attend Murray State University for a degree in Elementary Education.

ELAAN BADER Food Systems Scholarship Experience Award Montgomery County | Teen Teachers, Pollinator Ambassador, Unit YLT, Montgomery County Straightshooters, Sewing Club, Speaking for Illinois 4-H, Illinois 4-H Food Advocacy Team Elaan is dedicated to bettering the environment and our food systems. She implemented interactive, hands-on Honeybee Challenges and education programs on saving insect pollinators for the public. Elaan is also an Illinois 4-H Food Advocate to help solve food insecurity and sustainability. “4-H means leadership and helping your community and world. There are endless opportunities to take advantage of for 4-H members, and I’m proud to call myself one of them!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Elaan plans to attend Washington University to study to become a plastic surgeon, a politician, or a lawyer. She aspires to be an agricultural advocate and politician.

Shelby is a member of the State Livestock Ambassador team and enjoys exhibiting multiple species at the fair. She enjoys completing in public speaking contests at the local and state level. She utilizes her public speaking skills as a member of the Speaking for Illinois 4-H team where she is an advocate for 4-H. “4-H means family. 4-H has always been part of our family since my mom and dad met through 4-H. 4-H provides many skills and opportunities for youth to learn and grow in so many different areas of their life.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Shelby plans to major in agriculture communications at Southern Illinois University with the hopes of one day becoming an agricultural lobbyist.
TRYSTAN BORDERS Experience Award Union County | Lick Creek 4-H, Union County Robotics Trystan participated in Union County Robotics program and completed projects in Safety, Scrapbooking, Electricity, Cat, Dog, Chicken, Horticulture, and Floriculture. Trystan has a servant heart and enjoys participating in community service projects in her community such as the beautification of Ebenezer Hall Cemetery and contributing to Can Construction. “4-H is where friends share and learn from each other about the world around us to make us leaders of tomorrow.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Trystan hopes to be a video game designer.

Abagayle has a passion for livestock, you can typically find her working in the barn or in the show ring showing cattle. She applies the knowledge from her project to compete in various livestock judging competitions. Serving as a teen leader she has participated in ambassador trainings throughout the year. “4-H means family, community, friendship, and future. The ability to be who you are and express yourself through your talents. 4-H allows me to pass on knowledge that I have gained to the youth of tomorrow!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Abagayle plans to play basketball at a junior college then complete school to be a dental hygienist.
Aja started See Me in STEM to empower minority youth by providing STEM exposure events. She provided 1,700 minority youth with 1,000 hours of in-person hands-on STEM experience, cultivated ten community partnerships, won three national grants, and distributed 1,500 hands-on STEM packets. “4-H and my mentors, Keith and Alvarez, taught me vision, honed my leadership skills, allowed me to live my passions, and to define my strengths. They gave me the tools to change the world.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Aja plans to attend college to obtain her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Kevin served as a Teen Leader and participated in numerous leadership activities. 2020 was a learning experience for him while participating in virtual livestock shows and judging contests. He did various activities to learn more about the livestock industry. “4-H means helping others and my community. It also makes me think of the fairs and spending time with my friends in the barns traveling from show to show.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Kevin plans to pursue a career in aviation and continue raising and showing cattle.
Kendall County | Minooka 4-H + 1 Homeschool, 4-H Federation, Science Ambassadors, 4-H Shooting Sports, Speaking for Illinois 4-H Civic engagement has been the focus of Brayden’s 4-H Career. He leads an aluminum can recycling program. His mission to give back to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. He collected over 25 tons of aluminum and donated over $20,000 to the organization. He also serves as a Speaking for Illinois 4-H member at our Legislative Connection Events.

EDUCATION and CAREER: At the age of sixteen, Braydon is a Freshman at Penn State studying Political Science. He aspires to be president one day, but will start his career with a role in his local government then become a member of Congress.
Knox County | 4-H Federation, Rio Livestock 4-H Club DJ is an entrepreneur who raised and sold broiler and roaster chickens in a direct-to-consumer business. The knowledge and skills gained through this project helped spark his future career interests. He is also involved in Federation and a variety of other clubs, such as shooting sports and FIRST Robotics. “To me, 4-H was more than an organization. Through 4-H, I learned valuable life skills, made some of my closest friends, and gained knowledge and skills that I will continue to use for the rest of my life” EDUCATION and CAREER: DJ plans to graduate from the University of Illinois with a double major in Farm Management and Food Animal Production and Management. He plans to return to his family farm to assist with grain and hog production.
OLIVIA CHARLES Illinois 4-H Sustaining the Future Award Carroll County | Carroll County Kids 4-H Club, Carroll County 4-H Federation, Boots N Spurs Equine Club Olivia is passionate about her livestock projects. She been successful in the equine division of the 4-H Superior Young Producer Award and placed fourth individual in prepared public speaking at Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup. She also led practices for horse bowl and hippology teams and led the Rabbit SPIN club. “4-H has something for everyone and grows the next generation of agricultural industry leaders who have the skills and agricultural knowledge to feed the growing population in our world.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Olivia plans to attend the University of Illinois to major in agricultural communications and use her leadership abilities to advocate for the agricultural industry.

As a Digital Ambassador, Christopher shared his knowledge of steam engines with others around the world in the virtual Ag Extravaganza. He is also passionate about fighting hunger and has impacted his community through Illini Feeding Hunger, as well as hosting a pancake breakfast and providing goody bags to farmers.
Darcy has used her 4-H career in the fight against hunger through her service as a 4-H Hunger Ambassador. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring the younger 4-H members, assisting in running workshops, attending Teen Teachers training, and serving as mentor of 4-H projects. “4-H is the opportunity to explore new project areas, grow personally, help others, and provide needed community service.”

Experience Award Lee County | AFC Aggies 4-H Club Rhayanna has a love for animals and livestock! She has shown her dairy goats, rabbits, dairy cow, as well as exhibiting an animal science manure poster in her 4-H club. She enjoys participating in anything related to animals at both the county and state level. “4-H means the love of helping others, learning about things to help make our world better. I love what 4-H has done for me. I am excited to continue to grow.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Rhayanna is only 11, but has big dreams! She wants to study to be a veterinarian and own a farm someday.
AVIE COUNTS Experience Award Pope-Hardin County | Clover Crew Clover, 4-H Federation, Hippology Team, Citizen Scientists Avie has a passion for horses and food preservation. She has enjoyed participating on the state hippology team and was a state fair delegate representing the topic of food preservation. She also impacted her community through her participation in numerous community service events including a food drive, sand cave cleanup, share a cookie, and golden circle decorated pumpkins. “4-H is a great program that allows you to do activities that interest you. You also meet people who have similar interest.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Avie plans to study chemical engineering.

You can typically find Trace leading and mentoring younger members within his club and county. She has also enjoyed leading demonstrations for her club to display care of animals. She also keeps busy by participating in 4-H statewide activities and teaching 4-H learning experiences. “4-H goes back to the 4 H’s for me. With head being me learning about things and devolving new skills. Heart is me growing positive relationships with others. Hands is doing community service. Health is learning a healthier way to live.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Anna plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and major in Agricultural or the medical field.

He has shown every species of big livestock from sheep to horses. He also enjoys woodworking, visual arts, and animal science projects. “4-H means family and hard work. I have met two of my closest friends that feel more like sisters. I have worked hard through all my years of 4-H, and it has all paid off.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Remington will study Animal Science Degree at Southeastern Illinois College this fall and transfer to Murray State University. He also plans to minor in Agricultural Education.
KATELYN DAVIS Experience Award White County | Mad Hatters 4-H Club, 4-H Federation, Kids Helping Kids Katelyn enjoys the broad scope of projects she is able to explore in 4-H, participating in a nature project, public speaking, and public presentations. She also participated in community service activities related to her project areas, helped plan an Aerospace workshop, and enjoyed attending 4-H camp. “4-H is really important to me because I’ve made lots of new friends though 4-H, and I learn new skills all the time. I know 4-H will help me grow as a person.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Katelyn aspires to be a teacher.
ANNIKA DESCHLER Experience Award Champaign County | Fantastic 4-Hers of Fisher Annika has created a great impact with her International Night display, presenting it at not only her county, but also other counties, and even at the state level. She also visited the country that she did her report on. She enjoys serving her community by collecting food, making cards, and making blankets. “4-H allows me to help others and be more involved with my community. I have amazing mentors with the leaders of my club.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Annika would like to go to college and major in a science field to maybe one day go to medical school.
Vermilion County | Snider Kickapoo Inc., County Federation, Teen Teacher, Unit Youth Advisory Committee, Illinois 4-H Healthy Living Ambassador, Illinois 4-H Youth Leadership Team Member Naomi took her leadership skills to a new level this year. She attended the National 4-H Healthy Living Summit and the National 4-H Healthy Habits Conference. This year she also joined the Illinois Youth Leadership Team. At the local level, she promoted 4H at a promotional booth, prepared food safety videos and mentored members throughout the virtual fairs. “4-H is a place where one can discover their passions, create valuable life skills, and have access to countless opportunities. There is no limit to what you can accomplish within 4-H. ” EDUCATION and CAREER: Naomi plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to double major in Astronomy and Geology. She would love to focus on research regarding Planetary Geology, such as analyzing core samples brought back from Mars.
AVERY EDLER Experience Award Will County | Willing Wilton Workers, Tailwaggers and Shamrock Shooters Avery has a love for dog training and showing and participated in training through her Tailwaggers Club. She loves that 4-H not only lets her explore her current interest, but also helps her to find new interests and passions. “4-H has given me opportunities to grow my interests and find new ones. I've learned lots of things and helped lots of people through 4-H. These experiences will help me in the future.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Avery aspires to work in Conservation or Science and possibly become an Educator.
VANESSA EDLER Experience Award Will County | Willing Wilton Workers Vanessa enjoys growing her leadership skills through participation in online and live workshops and has had the opportunity to lead at a county wide workshop. She also exhibited numerous projects and is actively serving her community. “4-H is a place that I can help my community while learning.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Vanessa would like to become an Animal Behaviorist with a specialty in cats.

Katelyn cares for her own herd of cattle and is an active Illinois State Livestock Ambassador. She has attended two national livestock contests and contributes to a variety of community service activities through 4-H.
Alexander rose to the challenge during 2020; he developed virtual service projects and worked with local food pantries to get nutritious food and educational materials to their patrons. He also developed his knowledge of STEM serving as a National Youth Science Day event team leader and Science Ambassador.

CARINA ENGST Leadership Scholarship Experience Award McLean County | 4-H Teen Teacher SPIN Club Carina explores her love for teaching and education through 4-H! As a Teen Teacher for 4-H SPIN Club, Carina has facilitated summer camps focusing on technology and culinary arts. She has attended a national seminar and has assisted in planning the IL 4-H summer camp. “Through 4-H, I have grown in communication skills and overcome my fears. I have learned how to work collaboratively and to ‘think on my feet.’” EDUCATION and CAREER: Carina plans to attend a four-year college and earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree. Her aspiration is to one day work in the medical, dental, veterinarian, or biotechnology field.

I had many unique opportunities to develop my personal brand of leadership to make a difference for my club, my community and beyond.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Alexander is currently majoring in chemical engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, with plans to earn a master’s degree in five years.
BRAYLEE GILMORE Leadership Scholarship Experience Award Macoupin County | 4-H Robotics, National Youth Science Day Team Leader, Science Ambassador, Unit Youth Leadership Team, Teen Teacher, Macoupin 4-H Federation Braylee has served as an officer within her club for the past 8 years. 4-H has helped her find her voice and discover her strengths and weaknesses. Her leadership skills have developed through her country experiences including Federation, Teen Teachers, Youth Leadership Team and serving on various committees. Braylee enjoys giving back by mentoring younger members in the 4-H Buddy program and participating in various service projects. “4-H means exploring what makes a person unique. You get to learn your strengths and your weaknesses; and build on both. The 4-H program is about building the leaders of future generations.”

Megan makes a positive difference in her community by planning and executing service-learning projects. As an Illinois Youth Leadership Team member, she designed and facilitated workshops to help junior high 4-H members learn how to properly plan service projects. Megan has spent the year developing workshops to present to other 4-H members at the county and state level.

She has planned numerous community service events, promoted 4-H by talking with legislators, taught and mentored through the Ag-in-the-Classroom teacher, and advocated as the Illinois Club Lamb Board of Directors as a Youth Representative. She also enjoys showing and judging livestock. “4-H has given me two unique opportunities that have impacted my life: to start my own business and to become a public speaker. 4-H ignited my passion.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Sheridan attends Lake Land College as a member of the Livestock Judging Team. After, she plans to attend Texas A and M or Iowa State University to major in Ag Business | Pre-Law. She aspires to study law and open a rural, agriculturefocused law office in her home-town.

Julian is an active member of the State 4-H Youth Leadership team and served on the Illini Summer Academies Planning Committee. “4-H is a place where kids have opportunities to learn and grow while developing important life skills and becoming prepared and excited about their future.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Julian is currently studying Computer Science at Waubonsee Community College. She also enjoys sharing her sports nutrition knowledge through writing and photography. “4-H activities have strengthened my character. I have helped others, gained confidence when speaking, and developed time management.”
Saralynn has been instrumental in the fight against food insecurity in her community. She helped establish the county Hunger Ambassadors to further this goal. She organized the Weekend Food Program by collecting food and donations, packaged them into bags, and made them available to students at her school.

Amanda identified that the changes implemented during COIVD-19 would also lead to her opportunity to help the community. She identified that students in her school were not receiving lunches on remote learning days, so Amanda and her team sprang into action. They prepared bookbags of food and made them available to students to ensure that remote learning would not interfere with their health.

Regan continues to invest in her personal develop and enjoys connecting with youth through her attendance at legislative connection, LCP Premier 20 Conference, and National 4–H Congress. “4-H is second nature to me; being a part of a club, helping out in my community, and serving others. 4-H is a way of life for me.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Reagan plans to attend Illinois State University to major in Nursing. He has shared his passion and knowledge of poultry with other members in his club and at the fair. After attending to his flock, you can find Michael on the range enhancing his archery skills that earned him a spot on the state archery team. “4-H is a fun way to make new, lifelong friends, as well as a great opportunity to explore possible career paths.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Michael has not determined his career path yet; however, he is looking forward to the opportunities offered by 4-H to help him determine his path.

Rebecca also spends her time on the range performing Shooting Sports, Archery and Air Rifle. She dedicated her time to prepare her steers for the Livingston County Virtual 4-H Fair and attended the Illinois Beef Exposition. She understands the value of practice and attended livestock Judging trainings and webinars. In Vivienne’s spare time, she enjoys working on leather projects and whittling wood figures. “4-H, a place you never outgrow, is about the bonds of family, the challenges to overcome, making new friends from all over the world, and following the leadership of mentors who inspire hard work and dedication.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Vivienne plans attend a community college, then transfer to an agricultural, four-year college. Desiree enjoys all things equine! She exhibited at the state and county level and was an active member of the horse judging and hippology team. Desiree knew that she wanted to share her passion for horses and led a workshop to teach youth the foundation of horse judging. After working with her horses, you can catch her caring for her goals or preparing her projects for the county fair.
Community service has been a focal point for Elizabeth that has led her to help others locally and beyond. She dedicated her time to collect food for charities and families during the holidays and recognized the importance of our veterans by donating gifts. She expanded the reach of her service by sewing pouch liners for animals burned in brush fires and masks to keep front lines workers safe.

He put his knowledge to the test by competing at the 4-H regional horse hippology competition and exhibiting his creative side through his visual art projects. Experience Award Grundy County | Homes Cool Kids, Teen Teacher Through 4-H, Sarah connected with youth of all ages. Attending the Junior Leadership Conference allowed her to establish relationships with 4-H members across the state and expanded her foundation of leadership skills. Sarah also trained as a Teen Teacher and assisted as multi-county workshops. When she is not teaching, you can catch Sarah investigating her interest in wildlife and plants. “4-H has helped me expand my knowledge about topics which I am interested in as well as future career options.”

Ruthie loves all things equine and is passionate about advocating for 4-H. Ruthie has trained multiple horses and enjoys sharing her expertise through her riding lesson program. She also obtained an internship at Cemone Rovira at Shady Oaks Eventing in Clermont, Florida to expand her experience. Ruthie is a great 4-H advocate as an active member of Speaking for Illinois 4-H and legislative connection. “4-H means a chance to make a difference in my world. 4-H and its volunteers do their best to prepare you for the challenges and opportunities you might face.”

Experience Award Boone County | Wranglers, Fiber Friendzy SPIN Club, Horse Bowl, Shooting Sports, 4-H Federation, Teen Teachers, Speaking for Illinois 4-H Carl has dedicated his hands to larger service! Carl took initiative to collect plastic and organized a plastic drive to create TREX plastic benches to install in his community. He also helped members create memories at 4-H camp by teaching youth cooking. Carl also managed to find time to produce films to share his passion of 4-H and encourage others to start their 4-H journey. “4-H is where I learned the fundamentals of being a leader. Through 4-H I have been able to make an impact in my community and excel in my presentation abilities, public speaking, and social skills.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Carl aspires to be a residential wireman electrician and travel to assist with disaster relief.
STEM and Robotics Scholarship Boone County | Flora Producers 4-H, 4-H Federation, 4-H Flaming Monkeys Robotic Club, B.O.D.Y Youth Nickole implements her leadership skills through her role as a Science Ambassador, a FIRST member and a robotic camp counselor. She also dedicated many hours perfecting her skill welding aluminum and earned her role as the team welder in the welding program. When she is not teaching others or in the welding booth, she enjoys training her sheep and preparing for dog showmanship and obedience. “4-H is the organization through which I learned the importance of giving back and being a good role model. 4-H is also where I met some of my lifelong friends and connections in the professional world.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Nickole plans to study animal science and purse a career in veterinary radiology.

Peoria County | Elmwood All-Stars Emma’s projects have led her indoors and outdoors to perfect her skills. Time in the kitchen has proven beneficial to her candy making, cake decorating, and cooking interests. She expands her creativity through gardening and photography projects. Attending the Clover Clinics has provided the opportunity for Emma to connect with others interested in gardening, scrapbooking, and community service. “4-H is an organization that gave me many great opportunities to develop new skills. I credit 4-H with getting me started in baking, which has become a hobby I love and a career I'm pursuing.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Emma plans to attend Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC this fall to pursue a BA in Baking and Food Business Management.
AVERHY SANBORN Personal Growth Scholarship Champaign County | Sadorus 4-H Allstars, 4-H Teen Teacher Averhy has been able to explore a diverse portfolio of interests through her 4-H career. Projects ranging from drama to electricity has prepared her with many skills to apply to her future. Opportunities, such as mentoring youth as a teen teacher and implementing her leadership skills as a junior leader have developed a secure foundation, yielding her confidence and success with her Public Speaking projects. “4-H means community. 4-H has allowed me to build connections with the other members through our shared experiences in the club! The opportunity to try new things with others makes 4-H a special activity in my life.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Averhy plans to attend the University of Illinois to continue her education in Political Science and Communications. Upon completion, she may pursue a law degree out West.
ANNABELLE SCHAFFNIT Civic Engagement and Global Living Scholarship Adams County | Ursa Willing Workers 4-H Club, 4-H Federation Anabelle’s dedication to generously serving her community is clear! Annabelle raised over $5,000 in just two months to remember and honor 562 fallen Veterans at Quincy National Cemetery. Her public speaking skills developed through 4-H played an instrumental role in her accomplishment, as she reached out to numerous organizations throughout the community to make her goal a reality. “4-H has inspired me to think about other people and how can I make a difference. The personal satisfaction that my 4-H projects are making a difference in my community is all that matters!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Annabelle plans to attend a four-year college to become a dietician and work for an agricultural company.
Logan County | Atlanta Ag 4-H Club Cavit found his niche in geology and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. He serves as a research assistant in the Geology Department at Augustana College and has exhibited his geology projects the last four years through 4-H. Cavit implements his public speaking skills when sharing his knowledge of geology with his club and demonstrates his leadership skills serving as a Cloverbud Camp leader. “I believe that 4-H members have a head start in a successful career path because of the skill that we gain from general skills of Public Speaking to more specific skills, such as Geology.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Cavit currently attends Augustana College to double major in Accounting and Geology. He aspires to work in accounting for an ag-based business and the Illinois State Museum in the Natural Resource Department.
GRACE SCHUMACHER Creative and Performing Arts and Communications Scholarship Effingham County | T-Town Wranglers 4-H Club, 4-H Federation, Teen Teacher Grace lets her creative side shine through her visual arts, clothing, and interior design projects. The opportunities to serve as a teen teacher and volunteering her time to lead craft and cooking classes has allowed her to share her passion in the arts with others. Grace continues to expand her leadership skills as club president Federation treasurer. “4-H has transformed me into a lifelong learner, a strong leader, and a caring member of society. 4-H has also given me the confidence to face the future.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Grace plans to attend Indiana State University to earn a bachelor's and master's degrees. She aspires to become an occupational therapist.
SKYE SCHUMAKER Animal Science Scholarship McLean County | County Capri 4-H Club, McLean County Fair Board McLean, Livingston, Woodford Livestock Judging Team, State Livestock Advisory Team As a successful member of the livestock industry and entrepreneur, Skye has developed great skills. She started her own livestock and dog businesses and continues to exhibit cattle, sheep, and dogs at the local, state, and national livestock events. She raised a promotional bull and lamb that won the State Fair of Texas. “4-H has opened the door to miles of memories, friendships, and financial rewards. I am thankful for the tremendous opportunities and people along the way.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Skye attends Lake Land College on a livestock judging scholarship. She plans to complete her degrees in Agribusiness and Political Science, then proceed to law school.

Evan’s interest in robotics has provided a great avenue to develop skills for his goal to study electrical engineering. Evan has built and programed increasingly difficult Arduino robotic projects. His robotic projects include a buzz wire game, a fire-tracking and extinguishing robot, and an MandM color sorter. Evan shared his talents through his role as a facilitator in the Mars Basecamp STEM Challenge. “4-H means freedom to learn and explore. The limitless number of projects has allowed me, and so many others, to explore interesting subjects and learn about our passions.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Evan plans to major in electrical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He would like to work in a fast-paced, interactive career.
EMMA SEIBOLDT Civic Engagement and Global Living Scholarship Knox County | Walnut Grove Progressors 4-H Club VP, 4-H Federation Director Hands to larger service is one area of 4-H that Emma excels in. She has dedicated numerous hours to organize events to collect donations to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals of Illinois and Special Olympics-Illinois. Emma also activity participated in the United Way Day of Caring, supported the Gordon Behrents Senior Center, and volunteered time to assist the Knox Prairie Community Kitchen. “4-H is a world of experiences and life lessons. I have been able to serve my community, gain life-long friends, and improved my leadership communication skills.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Emma plans to study Biology Major on the Pre-Med track and aspires to become a Pediatric Oncologist at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
GRETA SHAFFER Illinois 4-H Sustaining the Future Award Adams County | Ursa Willing Workers Greta has dedicated her time and efforts to help her community. She has volunteered her time to clean a local cemetery and lay wreaths for the National Wreaths Across America. Sharing the 4-H spirit with veterans and nursing home patients was accomplished by replanting a nursing home courtyard and sending cards during the Christmas season. She also gave back to 4-H by laying a new concrete pad. “4-H is a place where young kids can go to learn important lessons about being responsible, working with others, and being a leader. 4-H will always be the organization that strives to help others, no matter who they are, and to build a brighter future for all.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Greta plans to attend Maryville University to major in nursing. She plans to obtain her master's in Nursing and become a nurse practitioner.
Olivia has been a great advocate for 4-H. Olivia shared her knowledge of raising swine on WIXY classic radio and her experience participating in virtual pigs shows for the Illinois Farmer Today publication. As a teen teacher, she assisted in planning her clubs annual 4-H Food Cook Off and created videos to educate others about the importance of physical activity and reading food labels to promote healthy living. “4-H is an opportunity for me to learn and gain important life skills. It has also been a great way for me to meet new people and learn about future careers. Lastly, 4-H has helped me to be a better leader and serve my community!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Olivia plans to attend a junior college and be on a livestock judging team. Then, she will transfer to a senior college to continue to judge livestock and pursue a career in Agriculture.
RESMIRANDA SMALL Experience Award Shelby County | Silver Spurs 4-H Club Resmiranda has a diverse portfolio of interests that 4-H has encouraged her to explore. She learned how to sew numerous articles, practiced her archery skills, wrote creative stories and comics, and even found time to complete exploratory activities like windowsill gardening. Resmiranda also gave back to her community by baking cookies for servicepeople and planned a celebration dinner for veterans. “In 4-H, I get to be with my friends, learn about new things and do projects. We can all work together and make the world better for everyone while we do it.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Resmiranda has some time to determine what she would like to do, but she aspires to help animals or work at a petting zoo.

Judging livestock, serving as a Junior Superintendent, and mentoring the Cloverbuds have fostered leadership and public speaking skill that will be essential to her future experiences. “4-H is an amazing organization that provides you with ways to make your best even better! Opportunity is such a big aspect in life because you can decide what you will make of it!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Sara plans to attend college for Agricultural Education and Extension.

Champaign County | Teen Teachers, Champaign County 4-H Livestock Club, Illinois State 4-H Youth Leadership Team, States 4-H International Exchange Outbound Delegate 4-H allowed Delaney to discover poultry and encouraged her to pursue her interest. She bought her own supplies, raised her own flock, exhibited her birds at the fair, and sold them for a profit. Her favorite program to facilitate this year was Culture, Cuisine, and Conversation, where she virtually traveled to other countries to connect with fellow youth and explore various countries. “4-H has fostered my growth and has given me opportunities that have shaped the person I am today. I am extremely grateful to 4-H for opening so many doors!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Delaney plans to study animal science in college.
Peoria County | Elmwood All-Stars, Peoria County 4-H Federation, Clover Clinic Teen Teacher Sarah has fostered quite the green thumb! Sara propagated and started seeds mid-February, then grew fruits and vegetables, sold the produce for a profit, and exhibited her produce at the fair. She also values giving back to her community and volunteered her time to assist in service projects such as the Birthday Bag, Camp Big Sky, and the Midwest Food Bank. “4-H taught me leadership skills. I am thankful for the variety of projects that I took over the years and the knowledge I gained.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Sarah will be attending Illinois State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in Horticulture and Landscape Management. She aspires to start a fruit, vegetable, and plant greenhouse production business.
SARA TIMM AUDRA SPIELMAN Healthy Living and Nutrition Scholarship Will County |4-H Warriors Audra saw her experience working with children as an opportunity to share the effects of screen time on children. Her experience babysitting, aiding in preschool classes, and being a children's message leader at church showed her firsthand how screens affect children. Audra wrote an essay to share these effects with individuals in her club and community. “4-H means leadership. 4-H has given me the confidence to stand up for what I believe in while keeping an open mind.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Audra plans to attend North Central College in Naperville or the University of Illinois in Chicago. She aspires to work in the field of Early Intervention or in a hospital setting.

Animal Science Scholarship Marion County | SEMCO Servers, Youth Leadership Team, Illinois 4-H Livestock Ambassador Team Sara has a passion for all things animal science and has developed her skills set evaluating livestock. She has actively served on the Marion County Livestock Judging Team for five years and has exhibited projects in beef, sheep, swine, and rabbits. Sara has been involved in numerous community service activities such as making Christmas centerpieces and playing BINGO with the elderly in the community. “4-H to me means limitless opportunities to make friends, open doors, and learn.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Sara is currently studying at Kaskaskia College to obtain an A.S. degree. This fall she will transfer to the University of Illinois to pursue a bachelor's degree in Animal Science then apply to vet programs to be a Large Animal Veterinarian.

Aiden has always had an interest in the cooking projects offered in 4-H and has expanded his skills and knowledge throughout his 4-H career. He invested his time in perfecting his recipes and found a passion in sharing healthy and simple recipes with his club and community through demonstrations. Aiden spent his time outside the kitchen attending Space Camp and looks forward to his trip to Washington DC.
Jeremiah has fostered leadership and public speaking skills through his 4-H experiences. Jeremiah gave a presentation about hydration, presented a speech at Charolais Junior Nationals, attended Junior Leadership Conference, and collaborated with a team to make demonstration video for ACES. He also made craft kits for hospital patients and assisted in planning a county achievement celebration.

Kayleigh has always been passionate about visual arts. Through 4-H, she was able to expand her skills by learning about monochromatic painting in an Art Spin Club. Kayleigh completed multiple paintings and exhibited a fox paint at the State Fair. She also helped her community by packaging food, making tie blankets, valentine cards, Christmas cards, and ornaments for individuals throughout her community.
Blake put the scientific method to the test with his hydroponic system. He constructed a hydroponic system to grow produce and has tested different variables that affect plant growth. He also built a corn root box to make the root visible under the soil. There is no doubt that the skills developed during his project will be applicable to his future.

The most important part of 4-H to me is being actively involved in helping my community with many services!” EDUCATION and CAREER: Kayleigh is an active Junior High student who plans to continue being a productive student with various community service roles.

JACOB TRUHLAR Experience Award Grundy County | Homescool Kids, Federation, Teen Teacher 4-H provided numerous opportunities for Jacob to expand his leadership skills. Jacob served as an advocate for 4-H through the Speaking for IL 4-H team, attended the Junior leadership conference to connect with youth across the state, served on the STEAM camp committee, and completed Teens as Teachers training. He also participated in the chopped challenge and exhibited his public speaking project at the state fair. “4-H has endless opportunities and lifelong skills that not only prepare you for your future, but the skills that you earn from 4-H sets you apart from the crowd.”
Kane County | Fantastics 4-H Club, Kane County 4-H Ambassadors Willem prepared a foundation of skills for his future through his robotic projects. Willem has always been involved in the robotics program starting with a guard and chasing robot and has advanced to a robust car controlled by a custom controller. Willem has been active in a diverse range of projects during his 4-H career, but is especially grateful for his public speaking skills. “4-H means the freedom to learn. I pursued different interests, and I never had to worry about failure. By trying so many things, I was able to determine what I am passionate about.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Willem is studying Computer Engineering at Cedarville University in Ohio. He is also pursuing minors in Bible, Entrepreneurship, and Math and intends to start a business in his future.

MIA TRUHLAR Experience Award Grundy County | Homescoolkids 4-H group, 4-H Federation, Teens as Teachers Mia put her leadership skills into action! She connected with youth across the state during her attendance at leadership conference and assisted with the 4-H Africa Summit trip planning. Mia also dedicated her time participating at Teens as Teachers training and was active on the STEAM camp planning committee. “4-H provides a safe and healthy environment for kids of all ages to learn and discover with peers. 4-H builds character and prepares the leaders of tomorrow by equipping them with skills to strengthen the upcoming generation.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Mia plans to pursue a degree in forensic science and join the United States Marine Corps Criminal Investigation Division.
DALTON WACHTER Natural Resources and Environmental Scholarship JoDaviess County | Top Notchers 4-H Club Dalton found his niche working in the outdoors. He shared his knowledge of birds with his community by creating bluebird trails, teaching natural resource sessions, and installing owl boxes for research. Dalston also serves as a mentor to the owl club which introduces youth to the lifestyle and importance of owls. “I have learned more about myself and made some great friends on this journey. 4-H is a way of life and it has helped me grow into the person I want to be tomorrow.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Dalton is attending Highland Community College then will transfer to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point to get a degree in forestry and wildlife management.

Michelle has dedicated her time to teach her club python programming and has led a virtual, multi-county STEM club. She also secured a grant to purchase components for her club projects which allows her club to continue learning! In Michelle’s spare time ,you can catch her on the range perfecting her archery skills. “4-H means discovering and nurturing interests combined with building the confidence to pursue those interests. 4-H provides so many opportunities to pursue my interests.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Michelle plans to attend college to study engineering or computer science and hopes to participate in technology research.
Morgan County | East Side Jr’s, Federation Katie dedicated her efforts to leadership and community service. Katie co-chaired an event to donate items to the nursing home and the Angel Tree. She attended Dare to Lead Conference and was a 4-H advocate through Legislative Connection and Speaking for Illinois 4-H. Katie also exhibited pigs and cattle, attended Youth Livestock Conference, and helped younger members gain confidence in judging. “4-H is a wonderful organization that has shaped me into the person I am today. I have learned public speaking skills and have reached outside of my comfort zone through projects and conferences.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Katherine is currently a freshman at Lincoln Land Community College, majoring in Nursing.

Nalia put her leadership skills to the test teaching others and establishing new connections. She developed various workshops on genealogical research, emergency survival, bread baking, and parliamentary procedure. She met influential people attending Legislative Connection and connected with others across the nation at National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference, and Citizenship Washington Focus. “4-H is a community that you will forever be a part of, and, no matter how far you travel, it will always be a place to grow, dream, and discover. But most of all, a place to call home.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Nalia is currently majoring in history at Oregon State University and aspires to focus on historic preservation.
Peter combined teaching and community service! He planned a Fiber Workshop for members to share their knowledge with the club on using various fibers to make products. To participate, members were asked to bring items to donate to Guardian Angel Network in Joliet. He also exhibited an Entomology project and led a demonstration on programing EV3 Robot to his club. “4-H means to me a fun, positive group of kids and leaders working together. I have made so many great new friends. We do cool things like volunteering at the food booth at the Will County fair.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Peter plans to major in engineering in college.

LOGAN WHEELER Healthy Living and Nutrition Scholarship Whiteside County | Fenton Wizards Logan understands the importance of health to better living! He emphasizes the importance of balancing exercise and dieting to ensure proper health. He tested the ability of weight loss gained from muscle training and cardio combined with a balanced diet. Ensuring portion control and consuming foods that are not processed leads to healthier lives. “4-H is something that I want my kids to do, so they can learn lessons and hard work just like myself. I learned a lot from 4-H and those lessons, I will carry with me through my life.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Logan will Attend Western Illinois College and get a degree in broadcasting and journalism. He aspires to get a job as a sports analyst or sports broadcaster.
Hamilton County | Funny Farmers, 4-H Federation Shiloh dedicated her hands to larger service. She helped organize several community service activities including a trick or treat safety workshop for children in the community, hosted an event to make Veterans Day cards, and collected hats and gloves for the homeless shelter. Shiloh also enjoys practicing her skills in cake decorating, photography, and gardening. “4-H has given me the chance to explore and enjoy new experiences I never would have tried on my own, but it has also allowed me to help others in my community in multiple ways.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Shiloh is in Junior High, but she has interests in culinary arts and science. She is confident 4-H will help her flourish in those areas.

Luke demonstrated generosity using his time and talents to help others. He coordinated an Ambassador food packaging event, became a Junior Leader, and was a mentor as a 4-H buddy in his club. Luke also participated in numerous community service events, such as volunteering at the food pantry, collecting supplies for Secret Santa, and planting flowers on National Day of Service. “4-H means that you will meet and have new friends. I have been able to help people in and around my area and beyond. I have also learned new skills that I have been able to pass on and help others.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Lucas plans to study electrical engineering.
CALEB ZWILLING Experience Award Champaign County | Fantastic 4-Hers of Fisher, Teen Teacher Caleb practiced his green thumb and was a steward to the environment. He rotated crops in three different gardens to yield better soil and nutrient control, as well as managed weeds and pests to protect his harvest. Caleb also attended Junior Leadership Conference and actively participated in numerous community service activities. “4-H means getting involved in your communities, making new friends, learning about new things and having fun.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Caleb plans to go to a four-year University to major in an agricultural field.
Dylan’s project kept him busy outside stewarding the land! Dylan learned how to grow crops, care the land, properly complete soil tests, and use machinery safety for the operator and others. It means compassion by taking care of your friends, community, county, and your world.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Dylan will attend Parkland College, then transfer to the University of Illinois to major in Agriculture Mechanics. He plans to work at equipment dealer and help on the family farm.
VICTORIA ZWILLING Natural Resources and Environmental Scholarship Richland County | Country Clovers, Illinois 4-H Healthy Living Ambassadors Time exploring the outdoors was in no shortage for Victoria’s project. She learned how to property identify trees, remove invasive species, and investigated how trees communicate with each other through mycorrhizal networks. She also explored wetland ecosystems and the plant and animal diversity that they support. “4-H gives youth a community of friends and mentors that support and teach them. The individual project areas have given me a way to explore my interests and career opportunities.” EDUCATION and CAREER: Victoria is interested in horticulture, such as landscape architecture and ecology. She hopes to travel abroad to gain a global perspective.
