Option B CCA

Option A Connect the CCA workstation directly to one of PoE ports on the UC520.

Option B Connect the CCA workstation to the PC-port of an IP Phone

35

UC520: Management – CCA Deployment Remote Access

Option A CCA

VPN tunnel

Partner site

Internet DSL, cable or ISR

Option B

Partner site CCA

Option A (Recommended)

Option B

To configure a system remotely, a VPN tunnel could be set up.

To configure a system remotely without VPN, the firewall settings on UC520 would require modification. Partner site’s CCA workstation IP address needs to be allowed on the UC520. If cable or DSL is used, other devices such as CE520 expansion switch cannot be configured remotely.

VPN should be pre-configured on the UC520 or the edge ISR. Use either a Cisco VPN Client or a Microsoft VPN Client and set up a session from CCA to the public IP address of the UC520 (or the ISR).

© 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.

Cisco Confidential

If using an edge ISR, a static NAT entry needs to be created binding UC520’s IP address to an external IP address. If a CE520 needs to be configured, another static NAT is required for that. Also, the firewall on the ISR (if any), needs to allow Partner’s IP address. 36
