EDITOR´S NOTE Imagism Magazine is constantly looking for new talents who want to present their work in our online and print publications. We want to be a platform for creatives all over the world to showcase their talent. Photographers, models, make up artists, hair stylist, designers or retouchers. We present their work not only in our magazine but also on our website and on social media platforms such as instagram and facebook. We do not ask for previously unreleased content. Once the submitted images are accepted we ask for a "short story behind the shot" in which the photographer and/or other team-members tell us about the shooting itself. What was the source of inspiration for the shooting, funny anecdotes, mishaps, success stories. We want to get a little insight into the behind the scenes. We want to thank all our contributors for their beautiful content.

SHAPES photos by Frédéric ROULLET - FRT PHOTO I’m used to saying: “I can’t draw, so I take pictures”. My name is Frédéric Roullet, a.k.a. “Frt Photo”. As a photographer, my path has been rather unusual. Like many photographers, I started to look for references, creations, themes. I used to gravitate towards things that seemed to be good to me, and some other very trite things. Much later in my path, I met a friend of mine, a choreographer called Paco Décina, who introduced me to the world of contemporary dance. That blew me away. The movement, the body and the light were factors that raised my creativity as well as my ar-

tistic awareness. That then showed me the way. Now, I mainly work and explore two themes: the moving body and facial expressions. My purpose is not to make people look beautiful. What matters to me is to make the photo beautiful through a body expression or an emotion.

FASHIONABLE Wardrobe-Designer EGE ORAN The most inspiring part from every shooting for me is to see how each photographer sees and showcases my designs, how they create a Story with them. Since it was more about a Beauty editorial I let my talented friend Makeup Artist Marguerite Gebhardt and our Hairstylist Maria Del Mar Puente off a lace skirt from another dress, cut some armholes in it and helped the model wear it. We were all amazed by the look of the "instant-dress" which was created in less then 5 minutes. The dress fit the whole look perfectly and made it complete. The spirit of adventure, ambition and innovation is that what inspires me to proceed constantly with my history, where creativity and glamour come along with inspirations from around the world mixed together. Therefore i do showcase my own vision of the modern beauty, elegance and aesthetics of todays women. I keep on building up my originality with innovative techniques and cuts.

choose the look of the editorial. My part was to support the looks with my dresses and creativity. I brought some dresses, sheer fabrics, like chiffons and laces and large jewelery, to fit our moodboard. Our chemistry fit right at the beginning therefore we all could, in our own profession, very efficiantly work together. Because of that ,we got great pictues with each click, which made choosing the right pictures especially hard. The most exciting part was our last look, wich is actually this Editorial. We started with a black basic strapples dress and a strong make up to go with it. During the shoot we felt that something didn´t work out quite the way we wanted to. At that moment I just cut

COLLAGE Collaborationist Artist ADAM ABELl @s7rax My name's Adam Abel. I'm a collaborationist artist based in Moscow. Currently I'm using Instagram as the main platform to share my art. It works great for me when I want to find creative people whom I could potentially collaborate with and to be found by them. I make digital collages in what I jokingly call pop-surrealist style. Sometimes I get compared to Salvador Dali by my Instagram followers. Surely that's an exaggeration that flatters me greatly especially taking into account that Dali is the one i've been deriving my inspiration from since I was 4. As a collaborationist I work with various photographers from around the globe who are not afraid of getting their original work distorted, ripped apart and transformed into another creation. Each of my "part-

ners in crime" inspired me by the way they perceive the concept of beauty and sharing my belief that altering it does not necessarily mean destroying it. But quite the opposite, getting it to undergo a process of evolution. However, my collages do not suggest a profound narration but are the product of my perception of human body as a form of art. If you take a look at my page you'll probably notice that male gay models take up about 90% of my gallery. There you will find no subtle philosophical implication but rather pure reflection of those involved: both a photographer and an artist; their preferences, desires, their vision.

LIQUID METAL photos by OZ JOHN I was debating with Sanne for shooting a bodypainting editorial. She wanted to use metallic colors. I suggested to introduce also some real metal to complete the looks. My previous studio was on Dupont Street in an old building, where we had a small art community; painters, sculptors, designers I am using the past tense, because the building owner kicked us out for renovating the studios and renting them to businesses. Of course, for a higher rent. I moved to a bigger studio. But I miss the small and warm ambient of the community. In one of the studios there were two sweet hearted artist-ladies (Ann Bartok and Olena Kassian), who design sculptures made of repurposed materials. Their studio was full of junk for some, full of inspiration for me. This was where I borrowed the spiral metal coils. You can see the artwork they created from the

same metal coil afterwards: http://www.barkasproductions. com. I worked with my Model Alana before. I knew she was a good fit; not just because of her look, but also for her personality and ease of working on the set. Such a sweetheart. She has a soft, girly face. I thought it would have been a good contrast if she acted wild and aggressive. She did a great job, I think. We tried different animalistic themes from feeding to fighting. The shoot took about 10 hours; more than nine hours for preparation, half an hour for the shooting.

HIGHLIGHTS NO MORE photos by FRANCESCO ITALIA One day in September I decided to try to get iand create outstanding beauty images. At that point I dedicated myself to the search for some somewhat commercial but technically demanding images. So I proposed my idea to one of my makeup artists and we started immediately thinking about how to realize it. In fact I did not know how to make those images but digging into the maze of thoughts I imagined the choice of the most suitable profiles to have a light effect as I had set myself. After selecting many compositions we finally found what would best suit the idea.

Anastasija proved to be the perfect model for beauty. Now you can see the result of the use of sophisticated technical materials, both in terms of lenses and the camera, which allowed me to experiment some very extreme cuts while maintaining the linearity of the face and the depth of field. The rest is the result of the amazing artwork of my make up artist.

A LA CIRQUE DU SOLEIL make up by HILDA JONKMAN If you are in a good flow as a team, the most creative ideas come up. Inspiring each other to take the photo series to a higher level. Normally I build up the make-up and setting slowly but this time we have immediately gone all the way. That took some getting used to, eventually this approach worked fine as well. The series has a chic clownish atmosphere in a fashionable/beauty way. As a makeup artist, I come into a kind of trance during the shoot. My brain is working at full speed to come up with new exciting settings for the next photo to form a strong series. It often happens that I dismantle or dis-

assemble hairpieces, mix make-up products with products that are not intended for that, in order to get the structure or color that I had come up with. I not only think of an image with the resources I have, but I often turn it around. I imagine what image I want to create and then I think of what I need for that. Only then I am in the supreme state of creative action.

SPRING AWAKENING make up by GILLIAN FALUDY For this concept, I wanted to work with different colours to showcase a transformation of growing up and becoming who you want to be in life. Pink represents the childlike innocence within all of us so I wanted that to be seen in the first look. It represents the open possibilities we had as children to be anything we wanted to be and the dreams of the future. You have the whole world ahead of you and the desire to chase your dreams. Pink represents hope and I saw it as hope for the future and the chance to live out your dreams but with no current game plan of how to get there. For the second look I selected shades of purple to give off more of an edgy look to show ambition, power and creativity which are all a major part of someone discovering who they are. Purple represents intelligence in brainstorming ideas for the future and having balance in life. The last look I came up with was with

41

blue and yellow. I selected those colours as the final look because they are bold and daring and out of the box. It portrays someone not being afraid to be themselves and that is the kind of message I wanted to get across with my work. The colour blue represents responsibility and calmness as well as persistence to achieve your goals. It is learning from your past so you can better your future. I selected blue and yellow together because of the blend of creativity and being analytical about your choices. It is never losing your creative spark no matter how old you get. These colours together are bright and bold and represent not being afraid to be yourself and strive for your dreams.

FACEDESIGN make up by MARIA OCHSNER As a make-up artist I leave my creativity mainly to my intuition and my gut feeling, I call this freestyle make-up. I love to go through my implementation step by step. As soon as I know what to do, many ideas of my pupils. Each make-up artist has their own handwriting which they discover in the course of their education. It's incredibly inspiring and exciting to join my students on their journey to becoming a make-up artist and watch them develop their own creativity and implement ideas. In the well-founded training as a make-up artist, the knowledge goes far beyond the beauty make-up, the possibilities are endless. In addition, it is also about self-confidence and self-management in order to bring yourself forward in the industry. The job as a make-up artist is clearly the most beautiful in the world to me!

just come up by themselves. What originally was planned as a test shooting suddenly turned into an inspiring work with expressive images. All components were in tune - a fantastic and spontaneous cooperation without any advance planning. Being this flexible is so important in freestyle make-up, because I have to be able to handle my decisions confidently and certain and stay open for changes at all time. Also, the model is always in the foreground for me, this leads my way and inspires me while reaching my goal. As the owner of the make-up artist school Face Design, I support and promote the individuality

ANTICIPATION photos by RON BEAVER I love shooting beauty, focusing on make-up, hair, or jewelry. It allows me to connect to and better capture the model’s energy. I wanted to shoot a beauty story that was more sensual, moody, and varied than I could do in a studio. I chose Dayna because she is remarkably and uniquely beautiful and has the kind of energy that was perfect for telling the story, which is all about the anticipation ahead of a beautiful summer evening. Black and white was an obvious choice for me because it better allowed me to focus on the energy and the emotional effect of light and shadow without the distraction of the colors of the room. Natural light worked best because I wanted an authentic summer evening feel. I shot at f/1.4 - f/2, with 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm lenses and myNikon d850. I love my Nikon 85mm for beauty but the

space was too confined in some cases. The wide open aperture gave everything a soft, dreamy feel consistent with the mood of the story. My team was amazing. It is surprising how many people it takes to pull off a shoot at this level. I am lucky to work with excellent creatives in New York. A special shout-out goes to my digitech/retoucher Tyler Mitchell, though. He understands intuitively how I want the final images to look and we start with that at the time of raw capture and he fully reveals that look it in the final images. I hope the viewer feels the emotion of serene anticipation of an early summer evening.

A touch of mystery make up by PATRIZIA CAMARDELLA Make up is my passion. I love to be creative and learn how to develop this ability to its fullest. That`s the reason why I decided to go to Berlin to join a Creative Workshop held by Einat Dan. Einat is an amazing Make up Artist and I admire her stunning works and how she performs. Her love for detail and unique way of expressing her creativity is what I appreciate most. At the beginning of the workshop I was very nervous and anxious because I am not very experienced. Meeting all these other artists from all over the world made me feel uncomfortable as I was thinking that they might outperform me. But Einat took away that feeling of insecurity. She and all the artists made me feel like I am part of one big family. Everyone supported each other. There was no jealousy and so much respect for the diversity of each one of the participants. During this workshop we learned how to work with different materials and textures which I wanted to show afterwards in my own work. First I started off with a

look that only emphasized the lips - giving it a „smokey feel“. I then went on working with different stones and pearls and mixing different eyeshadowcolors to make the beautiful eyes of the model pop. At the end I added a net, decorated with beautiful stones, to give the whole look something mysterious. Nele my model was very patient and with her great expressions managed to present the make up looks exactly the way I pictured it. Camilla Camaglia is a very talented photographer that captured the make up works in such a creative way. Her lighting is flawless. It was very exciting to work with her. Einat wanted all her students to amaze her with their works. After a 5 hour nonstop make up session I guess we managed to get satisfying results.

IRRESISTIBLE make up by Marguerite Gebhardt Our Inspiration for this Shooting was our model Irina - it was all about accentuating Beauty. We were very happy that she agreed to work with us. Irina Roshik, who has graced the covers of Harper´s Bazar, L`Officiel, and other magazines, flew in from Paris and took time out of her busy schedule to work with us. We wanted to have modern Looks that told a story. For the shooting I created simple make up Looks to accentuate her natural beauty. From a little bling on the eyes to a sensual red eyeliner and lips. Less is often more beautiful and red lips are always a statement of sensual beauty topped with simple elegant hairstyling by Maria Puente Del Mar which was complimented by the photographer. Thank you to Ege Oran for providing us with the beautiful Neck

piece and cynthus jewelry for the rings, Irina was a dream to work with since she also understands the value of make up and styling and through her versatility and expression brought the looks to life and was a wonderful asset to the shooting and enabled us as, a team, to focus on the images and the looks we wanted. If we had more time I could certainly have done many more make uplooks on her. It is of great value when working in a team that we inspire one another and compliment each others work. I also want to thank Alla Diatel for the great retouching.

A STARS photos by DMITRY SHOYTOV I have wanted to use a star filter for a shooting for a long time, but there were no proper clothes. Also I quite often use soft filter in my work and I jumped at an idea to combine these two effects. I dropped the light background however there was no such a background in the studio. So we had to use a grey one. And, as it turned out, it was for the better. I usually shoot very quickly and this series wasn't an exception. It took us an hour and a half to shoot several looks. When a shooting is thought over and planned well beforehand the process is very quick. I don't use ready light schemes. For each shooting I arrange the light in its own complementary way. This time I had to think and to experiment with it to create a light which would give glitter without shadows.

a line to a designer, a stylist who I am in friendly terms with, to suggest that we should do such a shoot. He eagerly agreed adding that he has clothes with sparkling elements. We decided to make it in a studio to be able to control the light and the glitter. I usually shoot in Redline studio as there is all the necessary equipment. We also needed a model who would surely understand the task and do everything right. I wrote to Ilona and offered the shoot to her, as I have already worked with her and shot model tests for her. She agreed. I wanted to shoot on

PRINCESS photos by Andrea Sbisà The editorial is an imaginary vision of Princesses, represented by fashion models, dressed with modern and orginal hand made unique pieces of crafts and dresses, the field, was Amedeo Turello. The crew of Renè Olivier Productions prepared all the fashion mood, style and makeup. And provided those great models. The shooting took place in july, and one difficulty on the field, was to keep apart people and tourist walking around the streets. The result i love most of this shooting, is to have been re-invented, in a modern and fashionable way, some images and icons that we italians know well from history, and from old paintings and arts from masters of the Reinassance. And in some way, give a different vision of beauty and art of my country.

set in an old Italian village. The result is a taste of old times, with noble ladies and brave knights, but all dressed with a modern look and a fashion attitude. The main inspiration to create that mood and atmosphere, was both the availibility of various pieces of artwork made by Idriss Guelai artist, and being in a real medieval old village in Tuscany, called Massa Marittima. So those real ancient walls and castle, were the perfect location. The elegance and beauty of the models, and the expertise of the crew, made all this possible.
