Welcome to the Coast in Spring It may not be spring yet but the weather has its own ideas. Apart from a few weeks of dreadful weather we have had it pretty good. Now you can celebrate the coming of spring and summer. Get the highlighter out and mark all the wonderful things you want to do and see. A visit to the new Art House in Wyong is a must, this place is awesome. I wish the Theatres I worked in were this fantastic. State of the art is not just an expression here, it is in everything you see and touch. Book a show and come and see for yourself. I love that you will also view Art not just watch it on stage. See page 14 and book for Fab Fakes and Noises Off. I am very proud to be able to send you to some wonderful eateries on The Coast. Austrian Schnitzelhaus is a great family restaurant. Read about it on pages 3 & 54. It’s

The entertainment will have you out every night, there is so much to see and do. Just get out there and live life. Don’t forget to tell our advertisers that you saw them in iMag please. HOW TO IMPRESS YOUR DINNER GUESTS Once upon a time...opulent dinner parties were the going thing. In the Edwardian and Victorian Days the dinner party was an integral part of society. They were a “Glitter and Gold “affairs. Earlier in medieval days, they held huge banquets which boasted putting Gold Leaf on their dishes, as they believed Gold had major health benefits; so were honouring their guests with good health. As dinner parties are making a comeback, why not bring back some of the opulence of the gilded years with some “Glitter and Gold “ for the table. Visit my shop at Yarramalong and we can show you our gold options. Starting with Gold Confit, a pickled red onion with the glitter of Gold throughout - perfect for the addition to the starters along with edible gold leaf to highlight your cheese and fruit platters. Then for the table we have gold salt and pepper grinders or beautifully bottled vinaigrette with truffle in a gorgeous gold bottle. There's gold leaf to top your amazing deserts and to finish, there's gold sugar for tea and coffee with a special little Gingerbread man bottle filled with amazing salted caramel Syrup which can be added to your coffee or drizzled over your desert. Our latest Gourmet foods from “A Taste Of Paris“ are made in France, and are a truly luscious range which is solely exclusive to Deborah Buckley Artisan on the Central Coast. So come visit us for your next amazing Dinner Party and we can help you ‘Create Art in Living’.

Bowen Therapy Bowen therapy has been developed into a modality used to treat many imbalances, discomforts and conditions. A large percentage of pain that we experience in the body is due to postural imbalances, which affects the mechanics of the body. The pain is usually a symptom or effect from the postural imbalance and most body therapists tend to go straight for the pain and rub or treat the sore bit. All though this usually feels good and temporarily relieves the pain, it does not fix the issue and in most cases the pain will return with time, however, to correctly treat this issue, we need to dig deeper using assessments and testing, to find the underlying cause of the problem and treat the cause, resulting in the symptoms to subside and along with selfhelp exercises and/or stretches bring about a longer lasting, if not permanent solution to the problem. Bowen therapy can also be used to treat and/or
help alleviate symptoms of medical conditions such as Planter Faciatis, Tennis Elbow, Chronic Headaches, Migraines, Asthma, Parkinsons, MS and Cerebral Palsy just to name a few. There are also specific treatments for organs of the abdominal cavity based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine technique of Chi Nei Sang. There are hormonal treatments used for treating many issues from painful periods to help with pregnancy to menopause, developed using ayurvedic principles. With such an amazing therapy developed and available right here in Australia, if you haven’t experienced it yet or you have an issue that other modalities just don’t seem to be helping, then give Bowen therapy a try.

The Carousel at The Entrance
The Carousel This historic icon has charmed and delighted young and old at The Entrance since 1930. It has seen a number of owners since its arrival in Australia from France in the early 1900s and is now part of the National Trust classified Haas Family carnival, a family that has 400 years of carnival ancestry. The carousel, which was built in the late 1800s in Germany, was originally ‘powered’ by a pony but was converted to steam at the turn of the century. It remained steam driven until the 1950s when an old chev. engine was installed, and was converted to electricity in the 1970s. Its reed pipe organ, operated by bellows, remained in commission until 1950. Music is now supplied by tape, although the organ front has been restored. The carousel has pride of place on The Entrance waterfront where it is visited by not only today’s children, but by the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of those children.
What to See & Do The Pelican Feeding in The Entrance Memorial Park is a highlight of any visit. Daily at 3.30pm The Entrance Heritage Walk is one of the best on the Central Coast and visitors will also enjoy the Coast to Lake Walk. Vera’s Watergarden is a children’s water playground opposite the Pelican Feeding area

The Italian Restaurant
Foodth wor ling l traveor! f
We had had a scary start to the day, driving in the pouring rain and blowing a tyre right off the Volvo halfway to the Central Coast. We have been to the Italian restaurant many times but thought a rainy day and the new menu were perfect matches. One hitch - Klara has become Gluten intolerant however the staff were so helpful, and sorted out every item. The menu is clearly marked with (GF) to make it easy. We shared most items so we could comment.
eater) and Klara the Chicken Ripieni breast filled with sundried tomato, chorizo and ricotta wrapped in prosciutto with mushroom, bacon Marsala sauce. The mains were perfectly done with tasty potato gallettes and broccolini. Choice of Salad or vegetables is readily available if you want to change accompaniments.
Entrees: We had a new dish Seafood Share (for 2), a selection of chilli lime Scampi; Prosciutto-wrapped Scallops; Lobster Ricotta Chorizo mousse stuffed cucumber; cream-cheese filled roasted capsicum wrapped in smoked salmon. Beautifully presented with such lovely tastes this platter was a delight. We accompanied this with the freshest oysters natural we have ever had.
Sweets; a delightful cheesecake, Creme Brulee, and wild strawberry & Balsamic Mouse with chocolate sauce. There is a choice of 13 sweets and it is hard to choose, ours were fantastic.
Mains: I had the Meat and Seafood Grill, Angus Sirloin, Med-Rare topped with prawns mussel, calamari, fish, scallop and bug with Citrus Chilli Aoli. Ian had Grilled Scampi (GF) with Garlic Parsley marinade served on Salad (he is a lighter
Our favourite Italian restaurant and its staff ensured the day improved. The new items on the menu were superb, the chef blew us away and we felt 150% better than we had. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. They provide for every taste and pocket.

The Peninsula Ettalong Beach, Umina Beach & Woy Woy
Ettalong BeachŠ Val Bridge
The Peninsula a truly special place For those who live on the Peninsula, we all appreciate how truly special the area is with its safe and beautiful beaches, picturesque waterways, accessible National Parks, vibrant town centres, good transport and easy access to Sydney. Woy Woy is one of the busiest rail stations in New South Wales as locals commute to Sydney for work each morning and return each night to the relaxed Peninsula lifestyle. It is no wonder that more people choose to live and visit the Peninsula as they discover its wonderful attributes. Few places can boast one of the best ferry rides in Australia from Ettalong Beach to Palm Beach via the Palm Beach Ferry or the spectacular train ride from Woy Woy to Sydney via the Hawkesbury River. Nor can you ignore the wonderful Ettalong Beach Foreshore, the Woy Woy Waterfront or the many spectacular lookouts and National Parks. Without doubt our beaches are the cleanest and

safest on the Central Coast boasting Ettalong Beach, Umina and Ocean Beach, Pearl Beach and Patonga. Importantly, our town centres have become more vibrant with the bustling Umina Beach one of the busiest retail strip shopping centres on the Central Coast. This is supported by major shopping facilities in Woy Woy including Deepwater Plaza and Peninsula Plaza and boutique shopping in Ettalong Beach. In recent years we have seen the emergence of a great cafĂŠ culture and a range of high quality restaurants especially in the Ettalong Beach village centre. With great schools, terrific services and a full range of shopping centres, the demographics of the Peninsula are changing with young families and professionals moving in to complement our older population. No longer just somewhere to retire (and why not), the Peninsula has become a place for younger people to raise families and enjoy a lifestyle that is the envy of Sydney. Come visit the Peninsula and discover the reasons why others have chosen to make this area their home and a holiday destination.

MARINE RESCUE CENTRAL COAST
Woy Woy Little Theatre presents Alan Ayckbourn’s
"Absurd Person Singular" Absurd Person Singular is one of Alan Ayckbourn’s most popular and hilarious plays. Divided into three acts, it documents the changing fortunes of three married couples on three successive Christmas Eves, ala “Last Christmas,” “This Christmas,” and “Next Christmas”, conjuring the three spirits that visit Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol.” What Ayckbourn depicts, however, is not the redemption of a miser but the inexorable rise of a money-grubbing British middle class. At the first party, thrown by suburbanites Sidney and Jane Hopcroft, housing developer Sidney is looking to make a good impression, but Jane is more interested in a spotless kitchen, and the party peters out when she has to run through the rain to the store for tonic and gets locked out of the house. A year later, it’s Geoffrey and his pill-popping wife, Eva, who are hosting, except they haven’t prepared properly because Geoffrey has just told Eva that he’s leaving her. Eva reacts by trying to kill herself, in five different ways, while her guests gather in the kitchen, mostly oblivious to what she’s doing. Finally, we visit the Victorian home of Ronald and his wife, Marion. There’s no party in prospect this year: Ronald’s bank is failing, he can’t afford to heat the house, and Marion is drunk in her bedroom. Laughs galore, a great cast and excellent direction by Andrew Thomson will make Absurd Person Singular one of your favourite Ayckbourn comedies. Performance Dates: Fridays 8pm – October 28, November 4 & 11. Saturdays 8pm - October 29, November 5 & 12. Saturday 2pm - November 12. Sundays 2pm – October 30, November 6 & 13. All performances at Peninsula Theatre, behind the Community Centre, cnr Ocean Beach and McMasters Rds, Woy Woy. Estimating distances on the water
Recreational boaties are often asked to estimate how far it is to something that can be seen from the boat, or so that directions can be given or to help guide others to your current location. Distances on the water can be deceptive. As a guide, on a good clear day, you can distinguish the shape of buildings, trees, other special features like water tanks and lighthouses from about eight nautical miles offshore. The distance to the horizon however can be quite short. In a small boat, when your eye may be just 1.52 metres above the water, then the distance to the horizon is about four km (2.2 nautical miles). The distance can be more accurately estimated using the formula -1.17 times the square root of your height of eye in metres = Distance to the horizon in kilometres. Some rules of thumb you can use and that you may find useful are: A sandy beach can be seen at approximately four nautical miles offshore from the deck of a typical small boat. Windows in buildings can be distinguished by day or night at about two nautical miles. A large buoy and other small boats are visible at two nautical miles, and the colour can be distinguished at about one nautical mile. A small buoy is visible at one and a half nautical miles but colour and shape will be difficult, the shape can be distinguished at about one nautical mile. A person is seen as a moving black dot without limbs at one nautical mile. Movement of a person's arms or legs can be distinguished at about 350m. Faces can be seen, but not necessarily recognized at 250m.
Enjoy the longest view, the seafood, the sun and ocean breeze on the Tallow Beach Terrace, a lazy breakfast at Rocky Point Cafe and a long lunch or dinner at The Half Tide Brasserie and the non-stop entertainment at Rileys Brasserie and Chicas Sports Bar. The menu was quite extensive and we tried the following: Appetizers Salt & Pepper Eggplant (this was AMAZING!!!!) Lemongrass Chicken Mid-Wings Sang Choy Bow (by far the best I’ve ever had. You could tell the ingredients used were extremely fresh. Mains Peking Beef Teriyaki Chicken (Delicious!)
Singapore Prawns in a tomato base (not a fan of tomato but these were great) Fried Rice (Light not too heavy) Basil Chilli Jam Chicken (Very tender & tasty. Chilli was not overpowering) There are GF dishes available. In summing up, a delicious and enjoyable meal was had by all. REVIEW The Terrace Grill Review
This restaurant is outstanding in every way. It is situated in the old Post Office in Terrigal and has a beautiful, cosy interior that was elegantly arranged and prepared. The menu alone is worth travelling for! For entrees Klara had the Chilli Bugs, that were cooked in a sauce with sweet chilli, garlic, ginger, tomato, saffron, spices, that really brought out the flavour of the Moreton Bay bugs. Emma had the superb home-made Goat’s cheese Tortellini with butternut puree, Persian figs, candied walnuts and sage butter, while I had Taste of the Sea with slipper lobster, king prawns, smoked salmon and oysters that were all fresh and delicious. The recommended wines were the 2011 McClaren Vale Scarpantoni Merlot and the 2014 Hunter Valley Scarborough Chardonnay, which married extremely well with the food. (The wine selection and bar is another reason to visit.) For main course, I had the thick cut A-grade Riverina Black Angus Fillet of beef, off the bone, char grilled with roasted mushroom, Dianne sauce

(which was juicy, tender, and melted in my mouth). It was served on a bed of spinach with handcut chips and beautifully cooked greens. Klara had the Free Range Duck Breast (very tender) with Pork Belly (that pulled apart) served with caramelised apple, seared sea scallops, roasted hazelnuts, morcilla and crackle, which was all artistically arranged and really flavourful. Emma had the Chicken Vino Bianco - chicken breast pan-cooked in white wine and cream with sautéed mushrooms on mashed potatoes and side vegetables.

Chef’s Selection
We loved our desserts and Emma had the warm-centred chocolate soufflé with raspberry sorbet, hazelnut praline and fresh strawberries. Klara had the Baileys Crème Brulee with fresh summer berries, vanilla bean ice cream, coffee and hazelnut crumble and I had the Chef’s selection of sweets and small cakes which were beautifully arranged and all delectable! Compliments to the Chef Tony Romeo for all of it! Terrace Grill is competitively priced and open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and Tuesday to Sunday night for dinner and has a great atrium that is ideal for group functions. Emilia Krumm

REVIEW
The Austrian Schnitzelhaus
The Austrian Schnitzelhaus is situated in Erina Fair, and serves authentic Austrian and German food. The manager Paul Callaghan and his wife Katie were our hosts and took care of our needs throughout the evening. We started with the freshly baked German pretzel that the boys, Emma and I devoured within minutes. There are a variety of beers on tap but on a cold winters night, Klara and I had a delicious Gluwein to warm our bones. Emma and the boys tried Almdudler, the traditional Austrian spiced lemonade. For main course, Matteo had the roasted pork knuckle which was perfectly seasoned, was tender, and tasted sensational with a honey mustard dressing. Klara had the slow cooked pork ribs in a Jack Daniels BBQ basting sauce that was absolutely delicious and fell off the bone. Emma and Luca had chicken schnitzels (all the schnitzels come in different sizes, Ladies, Medium and Large. On request, they can also do gluten free.) There is a large variety of different toppings and sauces. We tried the mushroom sauce, red wine and mustard, pepper and my favourite the Gypsy (spicy capsicum) sauce. I had the Vienna style crumbed schnitzel which I really enjoyed and it was served with a choice of side dishes. We

tried sauerkraut, red cabbage, roasted potatoes, spaetzle and Rosti potatoes between us. For dessert Emma and I tried the traditional (made on the premises) strudel, Emma had the apple strudel and I had the delicious Morello cherry and sweet ricotta cheese filling, they were served with ice cream and cream. Klara and Matteo had passionfruit sorbet that looked and tasted refreshing and Luca had the Crepe Suchard which was filled with ice cream and topped with the Haus chocolate sauce. We all had hot beverages to end our meal and the hot chocolates were a hit! October Fest commences on the 1st of October and runs for the month with a specialised menu. This restaurant suits families, couples, parties and is really good value for money. It is also so close to the cinema, so it is convenient to grab a bite to eat and then go to the movies. RSVP by 24th September, ph: 4396 4507 MARK BARNES: "I am going through a stressful and emotional time at the moment. I have encouraged the feeling to show in my artwork like a small fishing boat caught in a powerful storm with a light house in the background. Although Norah Head Lighthouse is the subject for this painting and others, some of the art works are imaginary scenes made up from my mind." KERRY KEEGAN: "The past 12 months has been turbulent and very stressful for me. Art is a way for me to unwind and lose myself in the motion of the paint. Like Mark I have an emotional connection with the canvas and finding peace and tranquillity is my subject. I’ve also been working in different mediums and have some pottery pieces to exhibit. In 2014 and 2015 I held two successful exhibitions at Shorethyme Restaurant, Norah Head and 2016 is now my third."
