Basic Grooming For Men Over 30

Perhaps in college it felt normal for many men to be unshaved, messy and dirty, but every man reaches a point in life when he must grow up. He must present himself to world, find a job and perhaps a mate. He wants to be taken seriously, so he has to learn to take care of himself. Here are some tips for basic grooming for men over 30 that will help maintain a presentable appearance.

Things Covered In Basic Grooming For Men First things first. Teeth should be brushed and flossed at least twice a day. Deodorant must be applied daily after showering, and cologne should only be used sparingly. Fingernails and toenails should be kept trim and clean, though excessive toenail trimming may lead to ingrown nails which are painful and unsightly. Gold Bond powder will help ward off the stench that often devolops around the crotch and feet, so it may be applied liberally. Hands should be washed regularly throughout the day to help maintain general health and wellness. A grown man must have a hairstyle. It doesn’t have to be fancy or require expensive products (though it may) but a hairstyle should demonstrate that a man has some control over himself. A talented hair stylist can update and polish any man’s look. If the hair is going gray that can be embraced as a fact of life or dyed out. There is no shame, either way. If the hair is receding or leaving altogether, a totally bald look maybe considered nowever the combover should be avoided at all costs. Many men choose the streamlined look of a shaved head as it conveys strength and high testosterone levels.

Facial Hair As An Important Part Of Basic Grooming Facial hair should also be under control, as an important part of basic grooming for men over 30. A bit of five o’clock shadow is often acceptable and even attractive but a patchy neckbeard is not. Facial hair can be part of a man’s personal style, and should be committed to as such, although many men look best clean shaven. Ear and nose hair should always be trimmed, since no one wants to see that. Long eyebrow hairs may be trimmed down easily, though a serious unibrow situation should be addressed by a professional waxer. Skin care for men is not much different than it is for women. Skin should be cleaned and moisturized at least twice daily to keep it looking young and clear. Acne can be treated with over the counter washes and creams or by a dermatologist, depending on severity. Basic grooming for men over 30 does not have to be complicated, and is nothing to be afraid of. This is just part of growing up.
