Chris Dill As the year rolls on and new websites crop up in every corner of cyberspace, newbies and veterans alike look for SEO tips that will give their websites the ranking edge they need to compete. Many of the older methods of SEO – such as blog commenting and directory submissions – don’t have as much power as they did even five years ago. Techniques such as guest blogging, app creation and social media engagement form the core of most companies’ suite of online promotion tools – but so many avenues are still being overlooked.

A Website Promotion Program Needs a Strong Core The goal of SEO is raise the rank of a website by, ultimately, building authority. This is why guest-blogging on high-value blogs, and providing a link-back to the original site, is so essential to driving quality traffic. Obviously, the use of keywords is crucial; after these elements are in place, a webmaster can really go after these powerful SEO tips of 2014: 1. Content with the potential to either go viral (best-case scenario), or draw enough attention from high-profile blogs to encourage them to link back to the source, is an excellent SEO tip. The inherent beauty of this method is that it doesn’t require the painstaking work that’s sometimes required in adhering to the rules for a guest blog. This can be a big deal, especially if the webmaster runs a keyword-based business that goes from making a steady $150 per day to $90; after all, bills don’t stop. Some often overlooked seo tips that are timelier than ever are constructing and maintaining social networks. Even building a forum can help preserve site traffic when the chips are down because of the search engines. A healthy presence on Facebook, for example, means that even when a website falls from number five on Google to number three, links and news is still circling Facebook, Twitter and other networks – because their communities are independent of Google Search. 3. Keyword research is as important as ever. Just as in the past, the better the research, the less work is involved in getting a website to rank highly. The use of preexisting ads reaps large dividends; there’s nothing wrong with spending a day on Facebook and making

notes of the ads that come up – these are the keywords paid for by other advertisers and are based on what they think people are looking for. They’ve spent the money on these words, and they’re usually right. Out of all the above seo tips, perhaps the most important thing for the webmaster to remember in 2014 is that content is still king. No matter how well a site promotion program works, if the , visitors will leave in droves and make it a point not to return. Simply put, there’s nothing that helps a competing website better than poorly-written content.
