Acceptance

Page 1

In life, acceptance has to be given in order for you to move forward into your destiny. If you do not accept the things that you cannot change, you will be stuck in that moment. Allowing certain situations to perpetually happen to you, is no one’s fault but your own. What lessons have we learned? What golden nuggets are we going to use from this situation to aide us in the next? If truth is to be told, we will engage this situation again, especially if we do not accept what has happened. How do we move forward? From experience, moving forward is taking the time to reflect on the issue of what happened. Whatever lessons have been learned, write them down. Pinpoint behaviors in you, the individual or the circumstances that point out that this is a perpetual situation. Then, instead of nipping it at the bud…pull that thing from the root! Pull it from the root so that after it has healed, it will never sprout up again! On the other hand, there are situations we cannot accept what has been given! These are those situations, where we just have to knock the walls down and break forth. These are those situations where we have heard, “You can’t do that”, “That doesn’t make sense?” or the best one, “Nobody else is doing that, why are you?” We come from a people who did not accept any and everything.

They were faced with obstacles some of us could never endure! But, they stood the test of time and weathered the storm in order for us to be where we are today! Whatever the naysayers or statistics say, we cannot accept anyone else’s view of our lives but ourselves. We have to dig deep within and listen to that powerful voice that speaks. GOD has given us the power to be who HE has called us to be. So, we should not accept anything else but greatness in our lives! In this issue of IMPACT Magazine, we are highlighting individuals who do not accept the status quo! On the Cover Page, we take a look back in time when our ancestors did not sit back and let the media or the people around them to dictate their everyday lives…they did what they had to do to make change happen! In addition, we focus on Trevon Molder! I met Trevon at a “Minding Our Business” entrepreneur session in which I was the speaker for the evening. He was attentive and all of the participants had drive and initiative! Read his story on who he is and how he has gotten started. We also show you, Abayonomi of Abayomi Tools! This gentleman engineered a tool that test the water pressure! In our “Be Inspired” section, we highlight Kimberly Harris, Owner/CEO of BCM Federal. Kim wrote her first grant while entering grad school. After writing and being approved for the $50,000 grant, Kim found the passion for helping others get approval for grants and scholarships. Her company, BCM, has a 100% approval rating. IMPACT also highlights, Yolanda Alexander-Smith who is the Owner of the “Thick is the New Sexy” group. Thick is the New Sexy is an organization dedicated to promoting the positives of being a plus-size woman. To learn more about these individuals, continue to read on through these pages! No matter the situation, test, or storm, we all have to accept or not accept our situations! If we stride towards getting the job done, sacrifice and servitude…in the end, the outcome will be what it supposed to be! It is up to us to choose to accept to stay in or to move forward in acceptance to get out! Be A Blessing To Someone Today!

Hello, my name is Trevon Molder, founder and C.E.O of Tick’s Toy & Things. I am 15 years old and in the 9th Grade at Trenton Central High School West Campus and am taking honor courses that will help me with my career choice of an engineer. Academically, I hold a GPA of a 4.2. I am a member of the TCH debate team and I volunteer in my community as well. In the beginning, my company’s vision was to sell toys that kids could build themselves, like an engineer and then the customer could play with them. I found out very quickly that not many kids I knew agreed with that idea. So the vision I hold now comes from

when I was younger and was in a toy store with my Nana and I realized how expensive toys were. I wanted to sell toys to kids that were inexpensive and still fun. I have been running my business successfully since June 2006 when I was only 11 years old this is when I started in the Spring Minding Our Business program. This program teaches children from the 5th to 8th grade how to start and run their own businesses. I quickly got used to speaking in front of large crowds, learned that networking is the key and many other things that are keys to good business and the proper education.

The very first year that I was in the program, at age 11, I was the youngest student at that time to ever place in the top three places in the Annual Business Plan Competition and I have remained there all four years of the program. I have met some very important people and have been invited to many events in Trenton and surrounding areas such as; Randal Pinkett from The Apprentice who actually came to one of the MOB Spring Market fairs, John E. Harman, President and C.E.O. of MTAACC, Trenton’s Mayor Douglas Palmer, Tracey Syphax C.E.O. of Capital City Contracting, Steven Baker form Giant’s football player, and MOB Board members and more!. Throughout this time I have been in several news paper articles, local TV and radio shows and an internet blog radio show twice! When I met Mrs. A’Drienne Dixon and found out that she was an entrepreneur of a faith based toy company (Train Up A Child International) she best role model I could have. The Abayomi Tester Body is a universal pressure testing tool. Inventor, Abayomi, is 37 years old African who grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. The Abayomi company has been up and running for two years. He installed his first electrical and plumbing lines when he was ten years old. Abayomi made an income from contracting and then made the transition to an inventor. He says he is fortunate to have been on all sides. It has been five years all together since his envisioned the dream of obtaining a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Although it was not an easy expedition, Abayomi says it was worth it. He was met with a lot of resistance from people that did not want him to unify pressure testers, but nevertheless he weathered the storm and came out on top.

properties. He started working diligently in pursuit of a remedy to solve the issue of extremely low water pressure. The pressure testing tools that were on the market gave him limited capability to finding out the problem. At the current time there were only two water pressure testing tools on the market, which were of no help to him. He knew there had to be a better way. He needed to find out what was the water pressure all over the house, at various locations. That is where he created the tool called the Abayomi Tester Body (ATB). The Abayomi Tester Body gave him the features he lacked in the other two testers, which were readily assessable, soldering free and durable. Teddy's advice to Abayomi was to take the invention home, so that no one would get the opportunity to steal his idea. Teddy made sure that Abayomi contacted the patent office so he could follow the appropriate channels to attain a patent. With the aid of Abayomi had to learn a lot of things to friends, desire and dedication to see the enable him to obtain his patent. How to Get Started Have you ever wondered how to get started with begin with adding raw foods to your everyday lifestyle? Here are some pointers if you are interested in beginning your raw foods regimen. Remember that your choices are abundant on this new regimen. You can eat a lot or a little. It works for everyone! And, I mean everyone! You can do this a variety of ways. These steps alone will get you eating about 50% Raw foods and well on your way to superior health.

Here's One Way to Do It Adding Raw foods to your everyday lifestyle: 1. Start your day with 16 oz of pure water and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Then have a powerful, nutrient-packed green juice, or smoothie made with greens such as kale and fruit such as apples. Begin lunches and dinners with a salad and some fresh homemade Raw dressing, maybe dress the salad up with avocado or soaked nuts/seeds. Another option is to have Raw soup as a starter before your meal. If you snack, eat fresh fruit or raw vegetable sticks, and/or drink fresh, powerful nutrient-packed green juices as between meal snacks instead of other snacks. Drink pure water between meals. Reducing or eliminating unhealthy foods from your diet: 1. Start by reducing or eliminating junk food, packaged snacks, fried foods, caffeine, alcohol, white sugar, and white flour. Here is the first step: Go through your cabinets and just throw them away. Don't say, "I'll just eat these but not replace them," actually toss them out. Ceremoniously, if you like. Your life is about to change. 2. Then reduce or eliminate animal products, especially red meat and pasteurized dairy products. Then reduce or eliminate cooked starches, especially wheat.

Another Way to Do It (This is the way that I found worked best for me.) Start out by picking just one day a week to eat 100% Raw. You'll see how easy it is and how amazing you feel that you'll be excited to do that more than one day a week, maybe two to three days. After that, you start increasing to one week straight, then two weeks, then up to a month (leaving a little wiggle room here and there, for times you just "can't" do it, perhaps due to social situations). Just find what works for you. The reason this plan worked better for me, as opposed to the method described above for gradually adding Raw food into each day's diet, was that I was finding it too hard to give up the addictive cooked food. I found that, if I had even just a little bit of cooked food in the course of a day, it was a slippery slope — it made me want to eat more and more cooked food, despite knowing how unhealthy it was. I worked much better for me to completely eliminate all cooked food for just one day, initially. My ultimate goal was to eat 100% Raw most of the time, with an occasional cooked meal. To do that, I had to have days that were solid Raw. I noticed that it was during the 100% Raw days that I felt the best and I soon became addicted to that high energy, waking up without headaches, feeling so great that I couldn't stop smiling. Over time, quickly at that, I became close to 100% (reserving a couple of percentage points for times when the situation still required some flexibility). Finally, whichever way you choose that I just discussed, you'll ultimately (hopefully) start living a predominantly Raw lifestyle that will knock your socks off. It's important that you learn how to make foods and meals that replace your current diet and learn how to make Raw food prep EASY! Saturate yourself with this knowledge — it's a lifestyle more than a diet — and it will become second nature. You'll be SO HAPPY you did! Everything in your life will improve! The words "fitness" and "health" will take on whole new meanings because you'll experience them in ALL areas of your life. You'll be physically fit, emotionally fit, and mentally fit. I promise!
