MT 500 MULTIMATIC IMT MORARA: MORE POWER, MORE FUNCTIONS BORN TO MANUFACTURE The Morara MT 500 Multimatic is a multitasking universal grinder equipped with a cross carriage and turret (can host 4 wheel spindles). Ensures combined grinding of internal and external diameters and shaving on medium-sized workpieces: up to 500 Kg with a length of 350 mm and a diameter of 500 mm. (height of centres: 300 mm). Performs multiple cantilever machining processes at once on with remarkable speed and flexibility, simultaneously grinding internal and external diameters with a perfect finish.

MULTIMATIC’S PROVEN SUCCESS It inherits the success of the Multimatic CLASSIC, the Morara grinder found in all factories with high production outputs, of which it preserves the operating principle updated with the most advanced technology, i.e. it integrates torque motors on all the rotary axes (including the workhead), contributing more power and functions: heightened removal, better finish, higher precision.

Designed with state-of-the-art technology and developed by exploiting the know-how and synergies of the IMT engineering staff, the primary goal being uncompromising constructional excellence. The new Morara MT 500 Multimatic combines an incredibly brief cycle time with fast retooling, the fruit of upgrades tied among other to the new, user-friendly software. The new Morara MT 500 Multimatic uses a technological platform shared by all the brands of the IMT Group, ensuring a great price/quality ratio and short delivery times.

SUPPORT GUARANTEED The units are laid onto a powerful single-block structure in cast iron designed with the most modern 3D solid parametric modelling technology and monitored with FEM analytical software, which ensures utmost stiffness and precision over time. The result is an exceptionally solid structure, with an overall machine weight that does not exceed 10 tons.

The new Morara MT 500 Multimatic guarantees an ultra-fast workpiece change-over thanks to set-up times lowered to a bare minimum. For instance, any possible taper errors on the workpiece are eliminated by moving the entire lower plane with an automatic unlocking device which, by means of a small cam, simultaneously corrects the position of all the electro-spindles, properly realigning them. The sturdy workhead with torque motor boosts performance and provides non-stop position monitoring: an important innovation for workpiece synchronisation, which is essential during automatic loading operations.

UNIT FOR INTERNAL GRINDING LONGITUDINAL SLIDE (Zi AXIS) & TRANSVERSAL SLIDE (Xi AXIS) Both assembled on linear guides with high precision recirculating rollers. Movement is provided by a Siemens motor and high precision recirculating ball screw, with resolution equal to 0.0001 mm. Longitudinal position controlled by duly pressurised Heidenhain absolute optical linear scales. UNIVERSAL “B AXIS” TURRET with ELECTRO-SPINDLES Wheel carrier unit assembled on rotary turret driven by a Torque motor (“direct drive”). Angular position can be programmed from NC; adjustment from - 20° + 230°; - Positioning resolution 0.00017°, Pneumatic system to lock the turret into its programmed position. Up to 4 electro-spindles can be installed with body from 100 to 150 mm. Comes with guard to protect the operator’s hand. INTERNAL GRINDING WHEEL DRESSING UNIT Fastened on the side of the workhead in the front part of the machine, it includes fold-away hydraulic movement (uses the Xi and Zi axes of the process).

UNIT FOR EXTERNAL GRINDING LONGITUDINAL SLIDE (Ze AXIS) and TRANSVERSAL SLIDE (Xe AXIS) Assembled on linear guides with high precision recirculating rollers. Movement is provided by a Siemens motor and high precision recirculating ball screw, with movement resolution equal to 0.0001 mm. Longitudinal position controlled by duly pressurised Heidenhain absolute optical linear scales. WHEEL SPINDLE Hydraulic wheel spindle (with “RIGHT-HAND” WHEEL) moving on bushings, suitable for grinding wheels with size mm. 610 X 80 X 203.2, 11 kW motor; FLANGES AND HOUSING built according FE-PA code. Comes with guard to protect the operator’s hand. EXTERNAL GRINDING WHEEL DRESSING UNIT Fastened on the bed behind the workhead. The same XE and ZE processing axes are used for dressing operations.

“C AXIS” WORKHEAD The spindle is assembled on high precision angle-contact ball bearings, while the rotary movement is provided via direct drive and incremental rotary measuring system. Continuous speed variation adjustable from NC.

Cycle time is dramatically cut down thanks to simultaneous internal and external grinding, making this machine the perfect solution for continuous grinding applications.

WIND & SPECIAL EQUIPMENT MT MULTIMATIC is the excellent grinding solution for very heavy parts up to 1,000 Kg.

GEARS MT MULTIMATIC is ideal for integral grinding. It grinds front face, back face and bore in a single set-up.

BEARINGS MT MULTIMATIC grinds complex parts with different angles and shapes thanks to torque motor driven work head and B-axis turret.
