DR. ABBY GALJOUR:

UNVEILING THE PASSION BEHIND THE “CAT LADY” VETERINARIAN

Dr. Abby Galjour, a native of Lafourche parish, pursued her passion for animals at LSU. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science followed by her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine alongside Dr. Linn in May 2019. She recently joined the team at Northlake in November 2023.

HOW DID YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN?

My interest in veterinary medicine stemmed from a childhood surrounded by animals and a family dedicated to medicine. Veterinary medicine felt like the perfect fit for my passion for animals. Embracing the ‘cat lady’ title, I’ve always been dedicated to feline care, with 2 Sphynx cats, Mercy and Clay, by my side.

WHAT INSPIRED YOUR INTEREST IN DENTISTRY WITHIN VETERINARY PRACTICE?

Dental health is crucial for overall well-being, a lesson learned from my mother, a dentist. Recognizing dental hygiene’s importance in preventing disease, it became vital in my practice and allows me to impact animals’ lives significantly. Although known as the ‘cat lady,’ ensuring all animals’ wellbeing, including their dental health, remains close to my heart.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE?

Balancing work and personal life is crucial for me. I unwind with my animals before volleyball, which helps me leave work at the clinic. Sometimes a case follows me home, reminding me of our bond beyond the clinic walls.

Visit Dr. Galjour at Northlake Veterinary Hospital to experience compassionate and specialized veterinary care tailored to meet the unique needs of your beloved pets.
