PROJECT INTRO •

Recently urban LED billboard screens are depicting forced 3d Illusion content, where cntent appears as“popping-out.” 3D Anamorphic video or Naked-Eye 3d works well on curved screens- such as the case of 3d sided Ten Square billboard. An anamorphosis is a distorted image that can only be seen in its correct proportions from a certain angle, or when using a special mirror. The artist uses forced perspective to create an illusion. The project is following traidtions of old classical traditional murals - and anamorphic street art where artist were able to create optical illusion with 3D renderingmostly known for his trompe l’oeil.

Create time-based media for a large scale outdoor LED billboard at Ten Square Singapore. The project’s goal is to turn this static building facade into a living, moving digital mural The theme revolves around concept of illusions in urban jungle.

DELIVERABLES •

The commuters do not spend extended time in space- so think of the work as a large-scale moving painting. Not as a cinema viewing piece. The emphasis is on changing the mood and experience of a location. The Ten Square screen’s tall and wide screen and wraps around the building’s sides, with the middle area of the screen serving as the action’s focal point. If doing Anamorphic forced 3D illusion- focus on side views. As anamorphosis is a distorted image that can only be seen in its correct proportions from a certain angle. Infinity Effect can be achieved of illusion of the “room” or space where objects are placed– the artwork can evoke a feeling of being trapped inside the screen, “in the room”. https://youtu. be/2BS7WhK6Kmg The use of perspective and the overlay of 2D/3D elements would give the composition more depth and the feeling of 3D and/or of space expanding. The illusion of interaction can be achieved with art elements following, mirroring, watching the passers-by from the inside of the screen. Style: Abstraction, Optical Illusions, Generative, Stylized realism Techniques: Experiment with any of the various methods and media: phone apps/HD (photo and video time-lapse, data mosh/Glitch, motion graphics, typography, After Effects, VFX/green screen (Cinema 4D, Houdini, After Effects), liquid art with high-speed macro photography, Fractals Glitch, analogue mark-making, AI. No flickering, wavering, twirling animation, flashes No fast and sudden contrasts in movement and speed. Consider smooth slow movement and transition edits.
