Note from Program/Events Director, Melissa Stewart During the school year Chop’s is committed to providing awesome programs for the teens of Santa Rosa. We are excited to introduce the Fall 2014 Activity Guide! Please take some time to look at the activities and mark your calendar for the ones you would like to participate in. While we offer fun programs like Game Nights and Dodgeball, we also offer daily Tutoring & Homework Help and workshops such as Basic Leadership Development Lab. We do our best to cover a wide range of interests and keep the costs low so everyone can participate. This includes our membership. We require that the minimum of $1.00 is paid for the annual membership, but encourage those who can afford more to consider paying more. Please feel free to call anytime!

Melissa 284-2467 x17 Membership Information:  Chop’s membership is open to Santa Rosa youth in 7th-12th grades.  You must become a Chop’s Teen Club member to participate in Chop’s activities (except for dances and special events).  To become a member, complete the Member Form with a parent or guardian signature, show a valid student ID and pay $1.00 (or more if you can afford it!)  You will receive a Chop’s Member Card that you must bring with you to get into Chop’s for drop-in and planned activities.

Art Studio Chop’s Art Studio exposes teenagers to a wide range of creative activities and opportunities. Through open studio time, workshops and classes, teens experience art disciplines such as wheel thrown and hand built ceramics, sewing and embroidery, painting, drawing and construction. The Art Studio staff are always available for help with projects and for advice. We are dedicated to promoting unique and affordable activities that foster creativity in a safe artistic atmosphere! Activity Name: Crafty Art Description: Come to the Art Studio on Tuesdays and Fridays for Chop's craft time. Make stamps for your cards, bend wire into fun shapes, build beautiful mosaic pieces, create corkboards for your pictures, make duct tape wallets, do lettering, paper mache and more. Activity Name: Ceramics Description: Join our ceramics teacher Erin on Wednesdays and have fun learning basic to intermediate clay techniques in wheel throwing, hand building, and glazing! Activity Name: Sewing, Folding & Fun Description: Have fun creating all kinds of treasures! We'll learn basic machine sewing and how to make quilted pillows, small blankets, bags & clothing. No experience necessary for machine or hand sewing. We have sewing machines, fabric and all the sundries you'll need. Origami is popular in the art studio where you can fold some cranes for our new chandelier, or work with a heat gun and crayons to craft interesting pictures that you'll be proud to display. We have the hottest teen night club in town called Club 509! It includes a spacious dance floor with club lighting for a party-like atmosphere, and an incredible sound system. Culinary Chop’s Teaching Kitchen and Espresso Bar boasts an impressive array of equipment and tools necessary for culinary and barista instruction. Culinary students become familiar in the kitchen, can learn to operate an espresso machine, learn basic meal and drink preparation, and how to cook and serve as part of our catering crew. Students can also learn employable skills.

Activity Name: Barista Training Description: Join our Culinary Coordinator Heidi for a series of 2-hour workshops featuring employable skills for a coffee shop. Workshops will include how to get a barista job, excellent customer service skills, steaming, frothing and preparing hot/cold drinks. Each participant will receive a training manual, recipe guide and certificate of completion after passing the "Barista Basics" test. Cost: $40.00 Act. #

Sports & Fitness Chop’s houses a state-of-the-art ž size gymnasium that includes a 35 foot rock wall with five different levels of difficulty. Activities include basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, badminton, indoor soccer, group games, and more. Join us for some drop-in action or sign up for one of the following activities. Activity Name: Fun with Photoshop Description: Photoshop is an advanced software program used by artists, graphic designers, and photographers to create and manipulate graphic and photographic imagery. We offer several programs for workforce readiness and volunteer opportunities. Join a community service club, become active in our member meetings or take a workshop to gain employable skills. You can also fulfill requirements for school volunteer hours at Chop’s. Activity Name: Awesome Pretzel Cart Training Description: Join our Culinary Coordinator Heidi for a hands-on work experience program. You will learn the basics of running a pretzel cart business. We will be using Chop's very own pretzel cart to teach business skills such as profit margins, inventory, customer service, cash handling, food safety and sanitation and best of all, to sell delicious pretzels. Youth Empowerment Council The Youth Empowerment Council (YEC) is a partnership between Chop’s Teen Club and Tomorrow’s Leaders Today to provide a forum for youth voice in our community, using their leadership skills to make a lasting Impact in Sonoma County. The YEC deploys accomplished youth leaders into service. The YEC involves themselves with local government initiatives and hold seats on various task force groups. They are trained in meeting rules and regulations, develop presentation skills, and implement various projects to empower other youth in the community. Open to students in 10th – 12th grades.
