Doctor Series 2013 We are fortunate to be able to announce a new series of talks by local English speaking doctors who are experts in their respective fields. InC member Dr. Monica Wolff has graciously agreed to both recruit her fellow doctors and to speak at the first event on Tuesday, March 19th.

This will be a series of 6 sessions which will be held once a month in Barra on the third Tuesday of every month through September. Each month will feature specialists from different areas. This series of events will afford InC members to meet leading practitioners of medicine in Rio de Janeiro, ask questions, and help make informed choices when in need of medical care. We look forward to the first event on March 19 where Dr. Wolff will discuss General Practice and Internal Medicine along with Dr. Luiz Fernando Correia who will discuss Emergency Medicine in Rio.

Please send questions in advance to Ellen so that she and our MC Melissa can collate and organize them in order help our Doctors address as many important topics as possible. We will draw from these questions during the meeting. In a very generous gesture both doctors have offered to help ex pats in emergency situations by giving us their cell phone numbers. The meeting will be held in Barra. Our meet and greet cafezinho will start at 10:30, talks begin promptly at 11:00 after which members will have time for lunch and to socialise. Please feel free to invite your English speaking friends. This event is free. An RSVP to Ellen Kuenstner at tbwelsh@igc.org is essential so that your name will be on the list at the entrance gate. To the wonderful ladies of the InC, My seven month adventure in Rio De Janeiro was a special gift in my life. I met so many fabulous friends that truly touched my heart. Rio was such a magical place with the some of the world’s most beautiful sights to behold and enjoy. We sold our home and cars before we left so it has been fun to start over and shop for cars and a new home. We decided to downsize and purchase a smaller patio home. It was also great to go back to Baton Rouge Louisiana and visit my 3 sons at Louisiana State University as well as family and friends. I have joined a Bikram yoga studio and attended a fabulous retreat this past weekend. I feel like I am already back in the Groove living in Houston, Texas. The weather has been chilly but beautiful and I am looking forward to the arrival of spring. Thank you to all of the ladies who welcomed me to Rio with open arms ad made my transition to my first Ex-pat experience much easier. You will always have a special place in my heart.
