ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) You are invited to harvest the bounty of a Surrealist Garden this week. It will be delightfully unpredictable and refreshing. I wish I could tell you what vegetables will be there, but you can ask them yourself. TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) Conceptual Art can jolt us out of slavish adherence to familiar patterns and that is what you need, if only for a day or two. Just don’t try cutting through a saw with a piece of wood. It don’t work. GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) Realism is not photography. This seems obvious but the distinction can be as subtle as the difference between wanting to create one’s world and wanting to control it. You’ve always been a realist. Why change? CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Art for you this week is a beautiful necessity. Pay attention to the way Picasso broke up forms for freshness, yet retained the essence of his subjects. That’s what you have to do with your priorities, O.K.? LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) You are the Great Lord in an ancient Japanese Erotic Print this week - no matter what your sex, you should dictate what goes on beneath the kimono. In fact, you should decide what kind of kimono should be worn!

PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Like an Abstract Expressionist, you must heed your own criticism, not that of the masses. They are worked up over something beyond your control. You can’t meet their expectations, but you can meet your own. NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, also read the sign before or after your birthday.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) Great art and great artists must sometimes suffer the taste of their patrons. Like Whistler with his lovely “Peacock Room,” you may have to take solace from the fact that the community supports your romanticism. LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) The power found in the many exquisitely detailed miniature works of art is sometimes forgotten. Seize that power this week because it is your will that should be done, for a change. The change will do them good. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Your potential for greatness is at a high-point this week. You can compare yourself to Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers.” Your value is limited only by what they’re willing to pay you - you know you’re priceless! SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) The canvas of your mind’s eye will reveal a record number of your own Impressionistic works. It would be a pity not to record them in some fashion. Tell the world what you feel. Don’t secondguess your muse. CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) Your life this week is a Kinetic Sculpture

today’s birthday by Miles X. Logan
Vincent Price, 1911 Vincent Price was a scary dude. Not really. Off screen the St. Louis native was a doting father. A Yale graduate, he wrote humor for the campus magazine and hoped to become a teacher. But Price, after joining a theater group, became smitten with acting and quickly found his niche, working in London before landing a plum role opposite Helen Hayes in Victor Regina. That role led Price to Hollywood, where he landed a number of supporting roles before gaining national recognition in Otto Preminger’s Laura. Audiences became fascinated with his film persona. He was . . . strange. He was . . . creepy. Parlaying the persona he first used in a film with Boris Karloff in 1939, Price returned to the horror genre again and again, scoring huge hits with House of Wax in 1953, House of Usher (1960), and the classic Roger Corman film adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Pit and the Pendulum the following year. Off-screen Price was a cultured and refined art collector and connoisseur. Over the years he donated some 2000 pieces of art to various institutions with a collective value of over $5 million. The director Tim Burton, a huge fan who became a friend, filmed a documentary about Price and cast the actor in Edward Scissorhands. After his death his daughter Mary wrote a detailed and compelling biography of her father. Though primarily known for his work in horror films, Price was a versatile actor who appeared in many comedies, oftentimes lampooning himself. He was a huge music fan – the band Deep Purple wrote a song about him. And oh yes, Price performs on the biggest selling music video and best selling album of all time. That’s him doing the voiceover in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

20 minutes or until soft, then cool in the fridge. Now, in a mixing bowl add your walnuts, 1 egg white, and all the spices. Mix thoroughly and spread them out evenly on a sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes. When they are finished cool them at room temperature for 15 minutes then give a quick rough chop, not too fine. Dressing Ingredients 1 tsp dijon mustard 1/2 shallot 1/2 oz drizzle of white truffle oil 1/4 cup dried cranberries 1 cup warm water 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil salt and pepper to your liking

that you soaked the cranberries in. Turn the blender on a low setting and let those ingredients blend together, then slowly add your olive oil. If the mixture is too thick and the blender seizes up add just a touch of warm water until you get the desired emulsion. The finished product should coat the back of a spoon.
Method First re-hydrate the cranberries by placing them in the cup of warm water. Let them sit in the water for about 20 minutes so they bloom and become nice and soft. Then place them in a blender cup with the shallot, mustard, truffle oil, and a little of the warm water

Located in a charmingly restored home from the 1800s in East Hampton, the restaurant is a vibrant, convivial destination for visitors and locals alike. Chef Gary King (Upland, Il Buco, Cookshop) works in tandem with local purveyors and vendors such as Balsam Farms and Amber Waves Farm, both nearby in Amagansett, to create a thoughtful menu of approachable, market-driven fare that changes daily. Highlights include local whole fish, heirloom tomato salad with purple basil and Amagansett sea salt, Tuscan kale salad with garlic-anchovy dressing, lemon and parmigiano reggiano and a variety of pizzas from the kitchen’s wood-burning ovens. King and his team of chefs prepare the stracciatella, pizza dough and pasta in-house daily. A selection of simple, refreshing cocktails and wines by the glass or bottle complements King’s menu, with Dark ‘n’ Stormies available on tap as well as a customblend Gotham Project rosé. Situated on 3.8 acres of land, Moby’s boasts ample outdoor seating and a large garden for summer dining under the sun and stars. The airy interior, designed by Pilcher, evokes a modern boathouse with exposed wood beams, roped columns, wide plank floors and sliding glass doors with views of the spacious backyard. Blue and white canvas director’s chairs, vintage buoys, nautical accents, picnic tables and a lounge with casual couches and rattan hanging chairs add to the restaurant’s laidback, beachy vibe. Moby’s is open for dinner and drinks, with new brunch and lunch service to follow later this summer.
