today’s birthday by Miles X. Logan ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) Knowing exactly what it is you want is the key to getting it, even when you have to work for events to coalesce on their own. But if you are exceptionally inflexible or too pragmatic about what you want, you are likely to miss out on some wonderful opportunities.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Happiness and a love of life are in the air. Your natural charm and charisma have a strong affect on others now. There could be a wonderful new relationship on the horizon. Home and family situations are sunny and bright. Let your light shine.
TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) What you want will come -- in time. Some level of anxiousness or restlessness is to be expected but being able to exhibit trust in the status quo is a definite plus! Take time to process and slowly add more stimulation to your routine.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) Use your anger as a tool, not as a weapon. Instead of becoming frustrated and upset, put your emotions to good use by letting them inspire and motivate you. A good leader is a good example. Channel your energy into creative outlets.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) At this time you may be inspired to redecorate your home or make it more beautiful in some way. Realize that delays and moodiness can hinder you. Listen to your intuitive hunches.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) This is not the time to be lazy. You might feel as if there are so many good influences in your life right now that you don’t need to push your luck, but that is a mistake. Do not ignore good prospects.
CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Even though things are in flux you should not attempt to make too many decisions at this time. Let one change lead naturally to the next, rather than trying to make things happen too fast. You’ll regret it if you do.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Confront your greatest strengths and weaknesses. Make a list of them and study it with an objective eye. Only by being absolutely true to yourself can you gain the selfknowledge needed to improve your life. Take action!
LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) Your inner critic can render the strongest judgment of all at this time. You feel you were indecisive and didn’t rise to a challenge correctly. Berating yourself for mistakes you might have made in the past can undercut your self-esteem.
PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) If you feel you are jumping headfirst into a situation, do your best to stay composed. Don’t allow your impetuous nature to turn into impatience or irritation, because that will only keep you from achieving a goal.
NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, also read the sign before or after your birthday. Tory Burch, 1966 If you live in the Hamptons you’ve doubtless seen this pretty blonde, sometimes with her three children in tow. She is often seen on trendy Newtown Lane in East Hampton, and for good reason – her eponymous store is located there. Tory Burch is a lot more than just another pretty, tanned blonde strolling through the Hamptons. She is at the helm of a fashion empire that bears her name. Burch (nee Robinson) was raised in an old farmhouse in Valley Forge along with her three brothers. Her father was a wealthy businessman who once squired Grace Kelly around. Her stunning mother, Reva Schapira, dated the likes of Steve McQueen and
Marlon Brando. Burch went to an exclusive school and became an expert horse rider. She received her formal education at the University of Pennsylvania and moved to New York to pursue a career in public relations. She worked for Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren, and found herself drawn to fashion design. In 2004 she began her own company and it was an immediate smash, her preppy-boho designs finding a loyal audience, particularly among the uber-rich. She parlayed her Ivy League education into building her brand, went public with her company, and added fragrances and ballet shoes to her line of products. Today she is ranked among the top 100 wealthiest women in the world by Forbes, which estimates her personal fortune now exceeds $41 billion.

Independent Dining Cinnamon French Toast With Bacon & Poached Apples
Ingredients (serves 4) 4 pieces thick cut country oat bread 1/2 c granulated sugar 6 eggs 1/4 c cream 3/4 c confectioners sugar 4 apples peeled and sliced
Method Begin by setting an oven to 400 degrees. While it heats peel and slice the apples. In a saucepot add the sliced apples, pineapple juice, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Cook over medium high heat for about 30 minutes. Once the apples are on and the oven is hot, lay out the eight slices of bacon on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper. Cook the bacon for ten minutes or until crispy. Now begin to heat two large sauté pans over medium low heat. At the same time crack the eggs into a bowl and add the cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and 1/2
cup confectioners sugar and whisk together. Next add 2 tbsp butter to each sauté pan. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and cook in the butter on each side for about four minutes or until golden brown on each side. While the toast is cooking on medium heat check the apples. When they are soft and the liquid is beginning to reduce, take them off the heat and mix in the maple syrup. When the toast is ready, spoon some of the poached apples and the apple syrup over the toast top with a couple pieces of crispy bacon and a dusting of powdered sugar and enjoy.
