Ingredients 1.25 oz Vodka 1/4 tsp honey Fresh lemonade .5 oz Grand Marnier Raspberry and Peach liqueur (or premium raspberry liqueur if you want to make the original) Raspberries for garnish (The original calls for honeydew melon balls) Preparation Chill a highball glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Mix the vodka and honey and put into the glass. Thread a straw with raspberries and place in glass Top with lemonade to just below the rim and then add the liqueur. Montauk Food Pantry On Sunday Montauk residents Leyla Marchetto and Sheila Rooney, together with the help of Maureen Rutkowski and Montauk Youth, are hosting the second annual 5K around Fort Pond to benefit the Montauk Food Pantry. Registration for this year’s event will open at 7:30 AM (rain or shine) with a start time of 8:30 AM, at the Gazebo on the Green in downtown Montauk. Adults and children of all ages are welcome, as are strollers, scooters and leashed dogs. Suggested participation donations are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. The organizers will also be accepting non-perishable food item donations for the food pantry during the event. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers, and there will also be a door prize for one lucky participant. Fall Golf Classic The 2013 Fall Golf Classic raises funds to help The Retreat continue to provide shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, education, and an emergency 24 hour hotline free of charge to victims of domestic violence, will take place on Monday at South Fork Country Club in Amagansett. 7:30 AM Breakfast and 9 AM shotgun start. Set in 1969, it is the story of two families that come together for a funeral. Robert Duvall, John Hurt, and a very scruffy Kevin Bacon give genuine performances, and, like Sling Blade, Thornton’s quirkiness and originality often shine through. Give it a try.
New To Theaters Hell Baby (R ) This comedic take on the old haunted house genre is sometimes funny, too often sickening, and improvised to the point of embarrassment. We found ourselves rooting for the demons. Rob Corddry goes down with the ship.

Now Playing Winnie (R ) This biopic of Winnie Mandela was envisioned as a star vehicle for Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. Unfortunately, it became apparent to critics, and everyone involved, that this baby was DOA – it’s a certified bomb already. Terrence Howard, an Academy Award nominee, plays Nelson Mandela. Riddick (R ) Vin Diesel is back for a third installment as the legendary anti-hero, and it’s another satisfying dose of all things violent. David Twohy, the writer and director, knows how to plot enough twists and turns to keep us occupied between the scenes of wanton slaughter, and Diesel was born to play the role. Go back and watch the others first, and then by all means catch this one in the theater. Drinking Buddies (R) Kate (Olivia Wilde) and Luke (Jake M. Johnson) work together in a Chicago brewery. Both are in “meaningful” relationships. But they flirt, and they drink a lot together. You can take it from there. It’s Joe Swanberg’s baby – he wrote it and directed it – and he keeps it together. The cast, Anna Kendrick and Ron Livingston among them, bring their “A” game. Try it. Passion (R) Brian De Palma has assembled a stunning cast to play out this suspense thriller about two women locked in an international power struggle. Rachel McAdams (Midnight In Paris) and Noomi Rapace do their best, but the truth is the original film was much better – this one is too much De Palma and not nearly enough subtlety. Lee Daniels’ The Butler (PG-13) As was the case with Precious, Daniels’ unabashedly directs with one eye on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts. In other words, he’s pandering for Oscar nominations, and it hurts his work. Fortunately, Forest Whitaker rescues some heavy-handed direction with an extraordinary performance that somehow cuts through the selfrighteousness that runs rampant through this film. If you don’t know by now, it’s about a White House butler who served eight American presidents. The script is short on historical facts and long on pap but the cast is superb, even Robin Williams playing Ike. Watch for Jane Fonda channeling Nancy Reagan. Yes, there will be Oscar nominations – this kind of Hollywood liberal schlockfest always manages to find an all-too winning champion.

Richard Hall was born in Harlem and raised in Darien, Connecticut. He was infatuated with music for as long as he can remember, at first as a devotee to hardcore punk rock. He formed several bands by the time he was 23 – including the Vatican Commandoes -- but none were able to land a record deal. During his early 20s Hall became infatuated with electronic music, and he became a whiz in the studio, landing work as a remixer for the B-52s, Pet Shop Boys, and even Michael Jackson. His theme song for “Twin Peaks” was released as a single, and it earned him a record deal with Mute records using the name “Moby.” In 1999 his album Play was released. Sales were modest to begin with, but eventually mushroomed, selling 10 million record worldwide. In 2002 a follow-up album, 18, went platinum, and Moby became a household name. He has since worked with some of the biggest names in the world. Moby, a vegan, is an animal-rights activist, has mastered several instruments, and owns a small tea shop where he actually works and sometimes waits on tables. He is considered an early pioneer in electronic music. As for his catchy name, there is a simple explanation: he is a direct descendant of Herman Melville.

Cajun BBQ Wings With Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce Ingredients (serves 4) 2 lbs chicken legs and wings ¼ cup paprika powder 1 tbsp cayenne powder 2 tbsp brown sugar ¼ cup old bay seasoning 2 tbsp curry powder 2 tbsp ground coriander seed 2 tbsp ancho chili powder 2 tbsp ground black pepper 2 tbsp salt 2 tbsp cumin powder ½ cup olive oil
¼ cup soy sauce 2 tbsp ketchup 2 tbsp hot sauce Sauce Ingredients ½ cup mayonnaise ½ cup sour cream 1 oz softened cream cheese ½ clove of garlic (minced) ½ cup crumbled blue cheese 1 oz soy sauce 1 tbsp chopped horseradish salt & pepper to taste

Method Pre-heat your oven to 425. In a small bowl add all dry ingredients for the chicken to make your spice rub. Now in a large mixing bowl add the chicken and all the wet ingredients. Mix well and when all the chicken has been evenly coated add half the spice rub. Mix one more time and then evenly lay the chicken pieces out

on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes take the sheet pan out and dust the chicken with some of the remaining spice rub. Bake for another 7 minutes. When the wings are done and cooling for a few minutes gather all the ingredients for the blue cheese dipping sauce and fold together gently in a mixing bowl. Plate and enjoy.

NAVY BEACH By Jessica Mackin Summer wasn't over at Navy Beach this weekend. We went to the Montauk hotspot for lunch on Saturday. The weather was perfect as we sipped on Chandon sparkling wine and tasted some of Navy Beach's fantastic dishes. We ordered a few of the salads to start. The burrata fresco with local heirloom tomatoes, prosciutto, crisp basil and aged balsamic was a hit, as was the crispy calamari with endive, frisee, and a chili-garlic dressing. Off the small plates portion of the menu, the yunnan ribs with chili and caramel were delicious. We also tried the buttermilk fried
chicken with cornbread, house made slaw and spicy honey drizzle, which was excellent. The seared Atlantic salmon with asparagus, fingerling potato, and yuzu beurre blanc was spectacular.
