The show runs through September 28.

ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) You are developing the art of taking action where power and pride are concerned. If you don’t impulsively rush into situations, you will be able to simultaneously handle a great many. Adopt a warm and confident approach. TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) Reflection, self-examination, and meditation are called for. You will receive guidance from your Higher Mind after a much-needed period of repose. Take sanctuary where you may find it and retreat in the midst of life’s apparent chaos. GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) You need to know and speak the truth and perceive it in the words and deeds of others. Be fair and just with all and you will soon be able to detect dishonesty in yourself and others. Learn the rules that govern what you are involved with. CANCER (June 22 - July 23) You need to revolutionize an important aspect of your situation. You may feel so desperate that you are willing to upset everything and everyone to end your crisis. Volatile or nervous energy may be released suddenly. LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) You need to act dynamically to get your way. Confront your strengths and weaknesses. Once they are clearly seen, you can use this self-knowledge to your advantage. A truly scientific, mathematical approach will work best. VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) You need to use your intellect to get your way. Your schooling and knowledge of philosophy are important, but so are your idle thoughts and daydreams. You can also solve problems by using history, rules, laws, and diplomacy. L I B R A (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) Remember that even if your intellect is aroused and stimulated by a flurry of new ideas, do not let it lead you into a state where daydreaming and

imagining becomes more important than making your ideas real. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Now is the time for reason, and for seeing another person’s viewpoint. It is time for a balancing of accounts, on a physical, mental, and emotional level; and in negotiations, and financial or legal matters.

Unraveling the cycle of crime, the societal conditions that inform it, and the psyche that drives it, Whorl, at Second Stage Theatre, is an affecting experience that clearly speaks to the need for prison reform. Its insights, much as those of journalist Sarah Koenig in the popular podcast Serial, challenge our perceptions of the justice system, as well as our prisons.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) You need to attain a degree of understanding that enables you to graduate to a higher level and enjoy real success. This rare time of culmination must be identified and honored. As the old cycle ends, inappropriate habits must be left behind. CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) You need seclusion to deal properly with your situation. Retreat from pain, conflict and distractions, and rid yourself of stress and anxiety. Ground and re-charge yourself. Look inward for a real change. Meditate daily. You can! AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Placing your faith exclusively in material objects can lead to disaster because only the spirit is eternal. There may be a dramatic turn of events this week, and established patterns of thought will be changed. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) You must view your life in the context of the whole of life itself before you attain the knowledge you seek. By uniting and balancing your long-sought inner harmony with the skills you have learned in life you have achieved real success. Entering in their orange prison uniforms, the inmates in the maximum male security prison in Whorl Inside A Loop, instantly evoke “Orange is The New Black.” As is their wont, their humor cuts through weighty monologues, all loosely based on the lives of prisoners at New York State’s Woodbourne Correctional Facility. Sponsored by Volunteers for the Arts, writers Sherie Rene Scott (who also appears in the play as the bubbly Volunteer) and Dick Scanlan taught inmates to write their personal narratives, “theatricalizing” the crimes, or alleged crimes, for which they bear interminable sentences. One character, Jeffrey (Chris Myers), recounts the event 14 years ago, at age 16, when he learned his mother had AIDS, and in a state of desperate confusion confessed to a murder he never even committed. The other actors in this well honed ensemble (Derrick Baskin, Nicholas Christopher, Ryan Quinn, Daniel J. Watts, and Donald Webber, Jr.) tell equally disturbing tales of provocation and survival, from which their lives as murderers emerged. While the play is written in an

Now About Successful Con Artists A valentine to the theater, and some of A.R. Gurney’s favorite literary works and society tales, his new play Love & Money adds another comic notch to his oeuvre about the WASP tribe, once again set in his hometown of Buffalo, New York. Michael Yeargen’s design of Cornelia Cunningham’s (Maureen Anderman’s) estate in muted mauve and shades of green, creates a warm background to this tale of a rich old lady and her legacy. Anderman gives a no frills portrayal as the audacious heiress who is determined to give all her money to charity. In an obvious take-off on John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation, Gabriel Brown (Scott) plays the African American young man, her illegitimate “grandson,” who lays claim to her fortune. Fashioning himself after Barrack Obama, in his physicality and charisma, Scott is an experienced poseur who finds his way into Cornelia’s heart, much to the consternation of her unyielding attorney (Joe Paulik). As helmed by Mark Lamos, the comedy follows some unpredictable twists to a deliciously happy ending. Interspersed with songs by Cole Porter, remembrances of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, and Edwin Arlington Robinson’s poem Richard Corey, Love & Money is a delicious send off to the ills of excessive wealth and privilege.
