Outrage * (R) No one does underworld gang violence like the Japanese, and Takeshi Kitano’s latest is chock full of twists, turns, and bloodshed as rival yakuza clans vie for control of the underworld. Sleeping B e a u t y (R) A New York City student, paying for an education through a series of menial jobs, becomes a prostitute by allowing herself to be sedated and then used sexually. Emily Browning is luminous, but struggles through a heavy-handed script.

to slash the hell out of everyone who crosses his path.

Now Playing The Artist (PG-13) A silent screen star circa 1927 realizes that the coming “talkies” will end his career; meanwhile, a young extra dreams of stardom. This Weinstein offering, certainly outside-the-box, is an example of a production company taking chances and succeeding – the film is a wonderment, where-in actors shine, lighting and custumes rule, and there isn’t a special effect or 3-D frame in sight. A terrific, must-see film. A Dangerous Method (R) Sony is hoping to generate some Oscar buzz for this film, a vehicle for Keira Knightley, playing a troubled women under the care of two of the world’s greatest shrinks – Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) and Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen). The Descendants *(R) We have our early Best Actor favorite and he is – ta da— George Clooney, who turns in a flawless performance as a father forced to consider selling his family land in Hawaii after his wife suffers an accident and lapses into a coma. Written and directed by Alexander Payne, whose Sideways also exhibited his ability to make profound films with a light touch. From the Kaui Hart Hemmings novel, this film is one of the year’s best. Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard and Shailene Woodley are all brilliant in co-starring roles.

New on DVD Conan The Barbarian (R) Loyal fans –- and there are millions – have waited patiently for the fierce Cimmerian warrior to return to the big screen after the disappointing turn by Arnold Schwarzenegger. U n f o r t u n a t e l y, most didn’t go see this one in the theaters. This time former fashion model Jason Momoa does the honors, ably assisted by Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang and featuring a delicious turn by Mickey Rourke. The storyline, such as it is, centers around Conan encountering all sorts of enemies and creatures while he tries to save Hyboria, and he has no recourse but

Today’s Birthday: Dick Clark 1929 by Asher Lee

Week of December 1, 2011

can count on ‘you’ to show up for yourself if things get difficult. Trust.

ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) Try not to give too much power to the crazy person in your head this week. We all have a crazy person inside there and we all must do our best not to allow it to run the show. So for you this week will be about not making things overly dramatic, or overly obsessive in any way. Choose the path of least drama and allow your best self to lead the way.

LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) Become aware of the things in your life that you tend to get serious about. Getting serious usually means that the ego is somehow involved in the situation. This may not be the time for your ego to be front and center. There are other concerns, mostly spiritual in nature that may need your ego to stand to the side for a little while. Put the serious ego aside.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) How about spending some time with all the people you love? It seems like a good time. Love is all around you and right now spending time with those people that do indeed love you will be like a healing balm. It’s good to be reminded now and again that you are loved and that it feels wonderful to love others. If you want to get serious about something then get serious about loving and allowing yourself to be loved. GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) Lots of movement and change and moments of doing nothing. This is by design this week, so make sure you go with the flow and follow this movement of energy. When it is time to go and do and be, then go and go. Just remember that when it is time to simply be and do nothing that you must do that as well. CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Trust and having some faith are the mission this week. When in doubt trust a little bit more. Trust the Universe has things well in hand and remember to trust yourself that you

VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) If you could surrender expectations and all the things you think ‘should’ be different you would find that you are actually a very happy person. If only. Accepting the reality of how things are, surrendering to that reality and then moving forward to change it if you want is the point of power. Resist the draw towards feelings of disappointment and see things as an opportunity to move in a more creative direction. LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) Not the time to make yourself smaller or diminish yourself in any way. Pay attention to your thoughts and words and see if you aren’t toning yourself down, editing yourself and in some ways giving your power away. You are not too big, your energy is not too big; you are exactly the right size that the Universe would have you be. Be big! SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Keep your focus this week. Your energy is a bit supercharged this week and you will have moments of instant manifestation,

America’s oldest teenager, Dick Clark, grew up in Drexel Hill,PA, a neighbor of fellow announcer Ed McMahon. Clark always loved music, and was a guest host on Bob Horn’s Bandstand, which debuted in 1952. Clark took over the renamed “American Bandstand” and on his first show in 1957 interviewed Elvis Presley. The show ran daily until 1963 and as a weekly until 1987. Clark created “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in 1972 and with two exceptions –once when he was recovering from a stroke – he’s hosted ever since. He was involved in several game shows – he created and hosted the popular “$10,000 Pyramid.” He’s won four Emmys and a Peabody award, but he is probably best known for his youthful appearance. Once, on an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Clark appears as himself. Carlton jokingly asks, “How come I got older and you stayed the same age?” instant karma in a way. If your head is in a bad or negative place then it is likely you will see very quickly the manifestation of those thoughts. So keep your head in a good place and keep your focus on all that there is to be grateful for. Tis the season. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) Look for the win/win in situations this week. All paths are leading to Rome and you are too far along in your journey not to reach your destination. Take a second, look at things which seem to be ‘problems’ and see if there isn’t some hidden opportunity in there. Think win/win. CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) Lets review the rules of negotiation. 1 - Show up, 2 - pay attention, 3 tell the truth and 4 - don’t be attached to the outcome. You will need to keep the outcome open ended in order for things to be a true negotiation. Otherwise it will come off as a series of demands and it won’t be constructive. Just tell the whole truth and allow the chips to fall where they may. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Do you really want to be the judgmental one in the crowd? Come on, I know you can see things that others can’t, so why not

cut us all some slack and leave your judgments aside for a bit. We all have a dark side and if you continue to be judgmental toward other people’s dark side, you will only confront more of it. Think about it. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Magical time for you Pisces. Going with the flow has led you to this place and this week should allow you to feel the rewards for your patience. Look around and see the synchronicities and feel the flow and remind yourself of how real it all is. Remain flexible and fluid, as is your nature and you will end up exactly where you need to and most likely know you want to be. NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, read the sign before or after your birthday. Asher Lee is a professional Astrologer and Tarot reader. Miscellaneous PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail) Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my mother.
