Parrish Presents
The annual shopping extravaganza “Parrish Presents” took place at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton this weekend. A preview cocktail party was held on Friday evening.
The Silas Marder Gallery in Bridgehampton hosted an opening reception for the “Holiday Salon,” a group exhibition that featured painting, sculpture and time based media. Also on view “Architecture of a Bomb,” collaborative site-specific artwork by Ben Butler and Michael Rosch.

A Dangerous Method (R) Sony is hoping to generate some Oscar buzz for this film, a vehicle for Keira Knightley, playing a troubled women under the care of two of the world’s greatest shrinks – Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) and Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen). The Descendants *(R) We have our early Best Actor favorite and he is – ta da— George Clooney, who turns in a flawless performance as a father forced to consider selling his family land in Hawaii after his wife suffers an accident and lapses into a coma. Written and directed by Alexander Payne, whose Sideways also exhibited his ability to make profound films with a light touch. From the Kaui Hart Hemmings novel, this film is one of the year’s best. Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard and Shailene Woodley are all brilliant in co-starring roles.
New on DVD Conan The Barbarian (R) Loyal fans –- and there are millions – have waited patiently for the fierce Cimmerian warrior to return to the big screen after the disappointing turn by Arnold Schwarzenegger. This time former fashion model Jason Momoa does the honors, ably assisted by Rose McGowan and Stephen Lang and featuring a delicious turn by Mickey Rourke. America’s oldest teenager, Dick Clark, grew up in Drexel Hill,PA, a neighbor of fellow announcer Ed McMahon. Clark always loved music, and was a guest host on Bob Horn’s Bandstand, which debuted in 1952. Clark took over the renamed “American Bandstand” and on his first show in 1957 interviewed Elvis Presley. The show ran daily until 1963 and as a weekly until 1987. Clark created “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” in 1972 and with two exceptions –once when he was recovering from a stroke – he’s hosted ever since.
