42 (PG-13) The story of Jackie Robinson, the first black man to play major league baseball, is a compelling one indeed. Unfortunately, this schlock-fest is so cliché-ridden that the drama gets lost amidst the overacting. It has its moments, though. Chadwick Boseman gets the title role and Harrison Ford plays Branch Rickey, the General Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who makes the courageous decision to bring Robinson up to the big leagues.
New To Theaters Jurassic Park: An IMAX 3D Experience (PG-13) Mommy, please
make it stop. Make them stop making me wear these stupid cardboard glasses, mommy, they give me a headache. Make them stop rereleasing old played out movies with ugly monster heads coming out of the screen directly at me. Can’t I go to a regular movie that was made this year? Please?
New On DVD The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Peter Jackson’s prequel to Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings is even more visually mesmerizing, and the characters are surreal and engrossing. Martin Freeman, as Bilbo, channels Dudley Moore in his prime and the movie has a charm to it that tempers even the violent scenes. It’s too damn long, though, so plan on watching it over two or three days. Egad! This is only the first of a trilogy. Ian McKellan returns as Gandolf and Richard Armitage shines as a young Thorin. A show about interesting and entertaining topics that everyone can relate to.

Today’s Birthday: Jim Bowie, 1796 Jim Bowie, though not quite as iconic as Davy Crockett, was an early American patriot and a peer of Crockett – yes, they both wore coonskin hats. For both, the Texas Revolution – during which a small band of adventurers went up against the powerful Mexican Army – was the last of a series of great adventures. As a young man he became an expert – hunter and fighter – with a knife, and today the leading manufacturer of blades bears his name. His reputation grew when, in 1827, he killed a sheriff with his knife during a melee, though he had been shot and stabbed. He was at times a smuggler, a slave trader, an adventurer, and he was always up for a good fight, which led him to join the Texas Militia. Bowie led the militia to two stunning victories over General Antonio Santa Anna’s Mexican forces, cementing his reputation as a fearless hero. At the Alamo, though, he became seriously ill and was bedridden. As legend has it, he emptied a battery of guns he had underneath his blanket into charging Mexican soldiers. He died with his trademark Bowie knife, bloodied from battle, clenched in his hand. Crockett, by the way, suffered a similar fate in the same battle, but only after besting dozens of attackers. ARIES (Mar. 20 - Apr. 20) Excellent week to break some old habit or way of looking at things. What if there are no rules? What if you only have to decide what works for you and what doesn’t? Try it. TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) Be authentic and do your best to eliminate guilt from the equation. The best we have to offer those around us is being who we really are. Now of course we have to figure out who that is first – you’d think that would be easier! GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) Be and stay strong. Know that you are more resilient than you may believe. You can survive all this, just make sure you take some alone time so you can get everyone else’s voices out of your head. CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Just keep on talking. Talk until you know you are understood. There is magic in the air this week so listen closely for the whispers of the Universe. LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) Keep your priorities straight this week. There
may very well be too many options and it will be through being clear on your priorities that you will find your way through. Write them down. VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) You need to remember who you are. Look back at your history and know that you can trust yourself as you move forward. If you’ve gone through all of that – how can you not trust yourself in to the future? LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) The weather must really turn to spring this week, because now is your time to shine. Do those things that you love to do and embrace the full emotional feeling that is all around you. Doing what you love is this week’s energy. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Check in with yourself and find out what kind of lifestyle you really want to live. Knowing the life you want is the first step to having it. Get a vision of the ideal life, then look and see the steps forward.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) Time for you to use some of your negotiation skills. Just make sure you show up and tell the truth and allow the outcome to be open ended. Don’t get attached to how you think things should turn out, just tell the truth. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Do your best to avoid over-extending yourself this week. There just may be too many exciting options and you don’t want to take on too much and end up burned out. Learn to say no when necessary – to yourself as well as others. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Find something creative to do. Your

anxiety, or potential for anxiety is high and the way through it will be with some kind of creative thing. Make little animals out of paper clips, anything will do as long as you want to do it. Follow your energy, your desires, your inspirations. NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, read the sign before or after your birthday.
