I saw Elvis. Others with peace signs, and still others wearing tie-dye were dancing to The Fabulous Sixties Rock Show, tossing rings at bottles of wine - hoping to win one, and rubbing shoulders around the bar. The Retreat’s 18th annual Artist Against Abuse benefit, an evening painted fabulously psychedelic, drew a crowd of hippies and their youthful imitators to Bridgehampton’s Ross School Lower Campus Field House on Saturday. Highlights included a live auction of works by noteworthy artists including William King’s 72” tall wood sculpture of a woman in standing pose, commentary from Executive Director Jeffrey Friedman, Emcee Ann Liguori and host Bonnie Grice along with final remarks from keynote speaker Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson’s ex girlfriend and a survivor of domestic violence.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 21) You will need your sense of humor this week when what you think you should do bumps into what you want to do. A little laughter will take you far; try not to take things too seriously. GEMINI (May 21 - June 22) Try to stay present, you know ‘be here now’ as they say. It may seem that there is much to worry about, but if you can be in this moment you will find things are just fine. Do some exercise to burn off the extra energy. CANCER (June 22 - July 23) Trust a little bit more. Jupiter has just moved into your sign, so things will have the opportunity to expand and grow. Trusting in what you can’t see or what isn’t obvious will be the greater challenge. Give it a try. LEO (July 23 - Aug. 23) Expectations will jam you up this week. See if you can accept things as they are and

move forward. It’s easy to get lost in all you don’t have and harder to stay in gratitude for what you do have, but give it a try. VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 23) Keep your head in a good place. Pay special attention to what you are thinking about. Where your mind goes, your emotions will follow. Staying in a good head will help everything feel better. LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 23) Follow your passion this week. Being moved by someone or something is a good reason to move in that direction. Trust those passions. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) Whatever is delayed is delayed with some purpose behind it. Trust the delay. With Saturn in your sign, you will have to wait for it to turn around before the energy truly begins moving forward, so trust the moments when things seem too slow. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21) Friends and family and being in those warm cozy places are all highlighted, so seek them out and thoroughly enjoy them. Your ruler, Jupiter, moves into Cancer this week, meaning home and family bring great rewards. CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 20) It’s all about priorities this week. You will need to be super clear on what matters most to you and where you want to be. There may be some hard choices to make; clear priorities are essential. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) Take a walk. The energy swirling right now is so big and dynamic that it could get caught up in your body
Derek Jeter is not only New York’s favorite athlete, he’s become a national icon for playing the game of baseball the right way – that is, without taking performance enhancing drugs. For Jeter, being a good teammate and winning games has always been more important than individual fame, and ironically, that is what he has become famous for. But Jeter, who recently turned 39, is in a race against time. He broke his ankle last October, and though he vowed to be ready for opening day this season, he has suffered two setbacks and still hasn’t begun playing. If he can come back, Jeter will presumably pick up his assault on the record book – he currently has 3304 hits, the 10th most in the history of baseball. Before his injury he was aiming at Pete Rose’s record, 4256 hits. He has been named an All Star 13 times, has won five Gold Glove awards, five Silver Slugger awards, and has five championship rings. He has been at his best when it matters most – in the World Series. He has a .351 batting average in the postseason. Jeter also has an all-star resume in the Dating Game. He’s squired the likes of Mariah Carey, Miss Universe, Jessica Biel, and Minka Kelley, and for years kept a bachelor’s pad at Trump Tower. Jeter is known for his unselfishness, his knowledge of the game, and his commitment to winning, traits he exhibited even as a teenager in Michigan. The noted baseball scout Hal Newhouser scouted young Jeter extensively and wrote up a ringing endorsement of the youngster, urging the team he worked for, the Houston Astros, to take Jeter with the first pick of the draft. When they didn’t, Newhouser quit the game in disgust. The player the Astros chose ahead of Jeter had a mediocre big league career. Jeter intends to return to the Yankees next month. In the meantime, he is a fixture on television as a pitchman for Ford, Nike, Gatorade, and Discover card, among many others. A 2011 Nielsen study ranked Jeter as the most marketable player in baseball, noting his sincerity, approachability, experience, and influence. resulting in anxiety. If you are feeling all weird, take a walk or just DO something. PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) Trust your intuition. You are probably having all these weird feelings and if you can’t put your finger on what is going on, then search a little deeper and challenge original assumptions to see if the whispers from the Universe reveal themselves. NOTE: If you were born at the end or beginning of a sign, read the sign

Side Effects Steven Soderbergh (sex, lies, and videotape) crafts a deeply complex and often disturbing medical-psychological thriller about a woman (Rooney Mara) whose world turns ugly after she is prescribed an anti-anxiety drug. Channing Tatum, as her husband, is terrific. Jude Law, as the psychiatrist, is also superb. This movie is extremely ambitious and difficult to follow, but the payoff is substantial.

Monsters University (G) Wherein we learn how Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan became such good buds. Unfortunately, the prequel from Pixar isn’t nearly as good as the original. Billy Crystal is back as the voice of Mike, with John Goodman doing Sully. World War Z (PG-13) Brad Pitt stars as a UN employee tracking a deadly pandemic. Director Marc Forster (Marc Foster) takes some chances, and the screenplay strays considerable from the book’s storyline. Still, when you have a zillion dollar budget you’re going to come up with some interesting special effects, and the sets are magnificent. Typical summer blockbuster fare. Man Of Steel (PG-13) Remember Superman? He’s baaaaa-ack. This time around Henry Cavill plays the title role, but he is really (spoiler alert!) Clark Kent/Superman. It features a formidable cast including Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, and Amy Adams as a bewitching Lois Lane. With its spectacular special effects and absorbing dialogue, this film is destined to become a megablockbuster. Enjoy Hollywood at its
The Internship (PG-13) Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, who bonded in The Wedding Crashers, seek to recapture the magic in this intermittently funny effort from Shawn Levy (Date Night). The pair makes loveable buddies, and if you buy in to that, you’ll enjoy this film. Much Ado About Nothing (PG-13) Joss Whedon (Cabin In The Woods) takes on The Bard, giving the classic comedy a contemporary spin. As is always the case, Shakespeare aficionados will make up the core audience and will either love or hate it. Amy Acker and Alexia Denisof star. The Kings Of Summer (R) Three friends decide to live off the land and build a house in the wilderness. The darling of Sundance, the film arrives amid much hype and manages by and large to live up to it. There are some bumps, but it is absorbing and multi-faceted – credit first time director Jordan Vogt-Roberts and screenwriter Chris Galletta. Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, and Moises Arias co-star. The Hangover Part III (R) It’s really, really, bad, but you already knew that, didn’t you?
