The Perlman Music Program

Aries (3/20-4/20) Break out of your humdrum routine and focus on having more fun. Take some time away from everyday chores and start to enjoy yourself. Not only do you deserve it, stress fades away. Taurus (4/20-5/21) It’s time to settle some debts, whether financial or otherwise. Balance is needed between your needs and those of the others around you. Discuss this gently and connections deepen. Dreams hold important information. Pay attention. Gemini (5/21-6/22) You and your partner(s) will benefit from discussing goals and direction. Where and how can more harmony be created? There is a chance to meet someone special.

The Perlman Music Program (PMP) 20th anniversary celebration at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton was held on Shavout 5776. It was a celebration of “Toby’s Dream” of bringing concerts, master classes, open rehearsals, and family events to worthy musicians and the public, begun 20 years ago. The Perelman Music program was founded by Toby Perlman in 1996. PMP continues to grow and develop into one of the leading summer chamber music programs of its kind. Devoted entirely to the study of great chamber works, the program brings together legendary artist-faculty and young artist participants for two and a half weeks of intense rehearsals, master classes, joyous sight reading sessions, and electrifying performances.

Libra (9/23-10/23) Short trips to visit friends and family will become more appealing. Catch up and organize paperwork now before the busy summer arrives. Keep receipts to track your purchases. If you hear a rumor, don’t repeat it! Scorpio (10/23-11/22) Reviewing your finances will not only be helpful, it will put doubts to rest. You must first resolve any inner conflict within yourself before approaching others on important matters. Try to see the glass as half full. Sagittarius (11/22-12/21) You may want to suddenly improve your appearance. Take inventory and get going. Make plans to get out and about town to show off your new look. It’s time to shine under the summer sun! Capricorn (12/21-1/20) Don’t be guilty if you feel the need for some time alone to refresh your energy levels and recharge your batteries. Catch up on sleep or reading and other forms of relaxation. A secret matter may be revealed.

Leo (7/23-8/23) Romance is on the menu and in the air. Whether single or partnered, your love life can improve with a little joyful effort. Activities around or about children are favored.

Aquarius (1/20-2/19) A friend may come to you for help with a problem. Be generous with your advice and time. You may be meeting new likeminded people as the summer rolls on.

Virgo (8/23-9/23) Work and home obligations need to be balanced. Prioritize, as a family, home, or property matter can consume your time this week. Tend to those repairs before they get out of hand.

Pisces (2/19-3/20) Suddenly everyone notices you! You may get a job offer or be asked to head up a project quite unexpectedly. Don’t be shy, as you’ve got what it takes to pull it off.

To think it all stared by not properly securing a pair of panties. The Underpants by Steve Martin, adapted from a 1910 farce by Carl Sternheim, exemplifies how so much can happen when a girl does not pay close attention to her undergarments. Martin is a celebrated actor, producer, writer and performer who seldom disappoints. Rising to fame in the 1960’s, Martin has become one of the greatest comedians of all time, and still continues to entertain. From comedies that will make you belly laugh, to the serious novella Shopgirl, Martin always finds innovated ways to capture his audience’s attention. The Underpants has a ver y

Martinesque feel, and throughout the performance you will find yourself saying, “I can picture Steve Martin doing that!” If uncontrollable smiling and laughter is what you seek, get your tickets now. Set in Germany, the play is packed with slapstick comedy and sexual innuendoes from start to finish. You will never expect the next move, and just when you think you have the plot figured out, a surprise ending takes the cake. Poor Louise Maske learns the hard consequences of accidently slipping out of her panties during a presidential parade. Although she was positive that few people saw her mishap, she soon

discovers that she is sadly mistaken. From Italian poets to Jewish barbers, everyone seems to be captivated by Louise and her fallen underpants. Luckily for Louise, she finds a silver lining in her foolish error. Upon arrival to the theater, guests are ushered to an authentic German beer garden where they can purchase German beer, wine, pretzels, and candy to set the atmosphere. Accompanied by a projection of traditional German dancing, Guild Hall transforms East

Peter Beard

“Peter Beard: Last Word from Paradise” is open at Guild Hall in East Hampton. Divided into two sections installed in separate galleries, the exhibition is organized around the two outposts that Peter Beard calls home – Africa and the East End. Representing the artist’s first US museum solo exhibition in 15 years, the show presents more than 50 multi-layered collages, drawings, photographs, and diaries from the 1960s to the present, some on public view for the first time. The show includes the artist’s iconic work from Africa that chronicles the change in the landscape from a time richly populated by elephants, rhinos, and crocodiles, to what remains today. Also on view are never-before exhibited Montauk portraits of his home, family, and friends including Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, Jacqueline Onassis, and Lee Radziwill. The show runs through October 1. carrot, and garlic in a saucepot with bit of oil over medium heat. Add the saffron and deglaze the pan with white wine. Add 1/2 gallon of water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 30 minutes. At the end of that 30 minutes blend the mixture on high until smooth. Begin to assemble the dish. To start bring a pot of water to a boil and add the linguini stirring it occasionally. While the pasta cooks heat a large sauté pan add the oil and crisp up the cooked sausage. Once it has browned nicely deglaze the pot with the garlic saffron broth and add the mussels and squid. Cover with a sheet pan for two minutes and allow the broth to reduce on high heat. Once the mussels open add spinach, chopped parsley, red pepper flakes, and butter. Stir and continue

to reduce until a desired consistency is reached. This process should take about 10 minutes and the pasta should be done. Strain the pasta and cook it in the sauce for another minute or two so it can absorb the flavors. Plate and enjoy.
