THIS WILL BE FUN As a wedding photographer, I understand that capturing meaningful and technically superb photos is only part of my job. Weddings are joyous events, but they are also a lot of work. You need a photographer who is 2
focused, flexible, and organized, yet easygoing.

I LOVE WHAT I DO
Wedding photography, for me, is more than the creation of beautiful images. It’s a chance to tell the full story of your wedding day, from little moments to formal photos to the energy of the dance floor. It also requires anticipation, preparation, timekeeping, creativity, and general good humor. I know that for you, this isn’t just a business transaction. This is your one chance to record a uniquely special day. That is why I give all my clients the edited files of their photographs in high resolution (digital negatives), and make a special effort to understand the unique challenges and opportunities that each wedding provides. I don’t want you to plan your wedding around your photographer, so my packages include a “full day” of up to 10 hours - I will start when you are almost ready, and stick around for about an hour of dancing, which is usually 7-9 hours. Weddings can be stressful, and I want to make your photography simplewe will meet and discuss your needs before the wedding to come up with the right plan for you. I have shot over 200 weddings, and my work has been featured in The Knot Magazine, Food & Wine, Minnesota Bride Magazine, Saveur Magazine, CNN Money online, chow.com, City Pages, and the Star Tribune.Together with my husband, I have documented local food culture as a founding photographer of heavytable.com and as photographer for The Master Cheesemakers of Wisconsin (UW Press 2009). In 2009, I founded the Independent Wedding Association, a local community of wedding professionals, hosting events and wedding workshops to share our love of weddings with brides and grooms looking for a more personal and information-heavy approach to planning their Midwest wedding. Although I am based in the Twin Cities, I have shot weddings all over the Midwest as well as Cape Cod, San Francisco, New York, New Zealand, Ireland and Mexico. I love to travel, and am always happy to chat about shooting events outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul. 4

SOME SOLID TIPS FOR ROCKING YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
Doing something that is uniquely you is always the right choice. If you love food let’s do your por traits in a restaurant or farmers market. If you love vintage style, let’s find a cool theater and take por traits there. If you love architecture - let’s hang out downtown! The sky is the limit. I think matching outfits are perfect for themed shoots about roller skating or foosball, but otherwise you just want to make sure you and your fiancée have outfits that work together. The same color family is an easy way to coordinate, like jewel tones, shades of blue, autumn colors, etc. I believe strongly that you should look like you in your photos. We will aim to capture more of your “fun and loving” side than your “just out of bed” side, but you should be able to look at your photos and feel like they represent you. There is no need to do something totally new for your photos. That said, your photos are a great time to spend a little extra time on your primping, whether that means extra time spent on styling hair and makeup or your choice of outfit. Think about bringing things that showcase your personality visually – your favorite shoes (cowboy boots? hot pink heels?), sunglasses, an extra scarf or sweater to change your look, a book or photo that has meaning for you, etc. The most impor tant accessor y is always a fun attitude. 9

“ Becca is absolutely fantastic. From start to finish, Becca was professional, responsive and diligent. On top of that, she is simply delightful. There was no need for us to “pose” for pictures, as we felt so comfortable with her that we could just be ourselves...and she did all the magic in capturing the right moments.” Jessica + Mike

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Can we print the images ourselves? Is there a watermark? A . I always give you the high resolution edited files for each wedding, always without a watermark. You can do whatever you want with them, as long as you enjoy them and you don’t resell them. I do recommend that for larger prints that you either have them printed through me, or use a professional lab to ensure good color and archival quality. Q. Do you retouch the images? A. I edit everything before you ever see it. Usually that includes color correction, some conversions to black and white, and a few other artistic flourishes, and occasional retouching. If you have specific concerns, let me know before the wedding so I can shoot with that in mind. Occasionally, weddings call for some light retouching to fix unexpected blemishes, and I am happy to do that, too. Q. Do you work with a second shooter? A. A ll the images you see on my site are photos taken by me, and in general I don’t think a second shooter is necessary. I often bring an assistant to carry my gear for local weddings, and they often shoot when they are not actively assisting me. I am happy to work with you to accomodate whatever wedding coverage you would like. Q. How long have you been a wedding photographer? A. I have been a full-time wedding photographer for over 7 years. I have shot hundreds of weddings, yet each one brings a new set of opportunities and challenges. I love being able to document so many wonderful stories. Q. Our location is really dark/bright/windy/wet - can you shoot it? A. I believe one of the most important parts of being a wedding photographer is being prepared and having a lot of different tools available no matter how the day unfolds. I use many types of lighting and lenses to provide coverage no matter if your wedding is on a yacht or in a cave. Q. Can I get a discount if I don’t need you for a whole day? A. I prefer to see weddings from beginning to end - I want to capture the capture the entire story of your wedding day and ensure that you don’t plan your wedding timing around my schedule. However, I do offer an “Express Package” with a 5-hour option, perfect for smaller or more compact weddings. Q: Do you use a shot list? A: T he majority of what I do is to document the day that you plan, without a shot list. However, I want to make sure we capture the family formals that you want and so I do recommend a shot list for those images. Q. M y aunt/friend/co-worker just got a camera and wants to photograph us in silly ways, what do you think? A. I will defer to you. I am always happy to allow other people to take photos at the wedding as long as I can get the photos that you want. If you want me to keep your guests in line and have the photos move along quicker, I can do a very good “Camp Counselor” voice. Q. What is your deposit policy? A. I require a non-refundable retainer of $1000 to secure the date, along with a standard contract. The rest of payment it due on or before the day of the wedding. I also collect sales tax of 7.75% in MN.

“ Our wedding photos are beautiful. Becca facilitated so many shoots and groups flawlessly, including our large families. She even performed a minor miracle of persuading Andy’s grandfather to look at the camera. He didn’t even do that for his own wedding photos!” Grace +Andy

FAQ (continued) Q. We don’t really like formal photos, do we have to do these? A. It is your wedding, and we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. You have probably looked through my images and by now you know that the bulk of my work is candid. That said, I am of course happy to do as many family formals as you want. We will make these as fun and efficient as possible. Q. Do you travel outside of Minneapolis/Minnesota/the USA? A. I love to travel, and I have traveled for destination weddings anywhere from Milwaukee to New Zealand. There is no additional fee for travel within the 494/694 corridor of Minneapolis. Q. Do I have to feed you? A. W ell, I do have to eat at some point. But I am not picky and many venues have the option for a “vendor meal” which would suit me fine. You don’t have to seat me with the guests, but I am a lot of fun with old college friends and rowdy coworkers. Q. Do I get every image that you take? What do you “edit out”? A. I give you the images that complete the story of your wedding. I take more photos than I will deliver. This is because some of those images will have people blinking or odd lighting and some will be duplicates. Since we will talk before your wedding about what you would like for photos, and because I am at your wedding all day, I usually have a good sense of what images will be meaningful for you, and so I make sure not to edit out photos that will be important to you. Q. What if it snows/rains/tornadoes? A. W ell, you know that the Midwest has unpredictable weather. If the weather gets in the way of outdoor photos you wanted, then we need to do your photos inside. I can suggest some possible indoor locations around the Twin Cities, but many require advanced notice. I would be happy to talk with you about ideas and suggestions when we talk about logistics. Q. What if you get sick and can’t come to the wedding? A. H onestly, short of being dead, I will do everything in my power to photograph your wedding. If I die, I will not be shooting your wedding, but I try my darndest to insure that a professional photographer who I trust implicitly will. Q. What is your deposit policy? A. I require a non-refundable retainer of $1000 to secure the date, along with a standard contract. The rest of payment it due on or before the day of the wedding. Q. What cameras do you use? A. I shoot on Nikon digital cameras and I have for several years. I am happy to tell you all about my equipment I use and all sorts of technical information, but if you like my portfolio, then you probably don’t need all the details. It is not the camera that makes the photograph, it is the photographer.

Q. How do you dress for weddings? A. I dress in black dress casual. Between the weird positions I get into for poses and the multiple cameras hanging off me, I can not blend in as a guest. I try to be as unobtrusive as possible, and my dark attire is part of this. I have even been called a “wedding ninja” before.
