2. KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU chemical wood pulp production showed mixed dynamics, falling from 14.5 million tonnes in 2007 to 13.9 million tonnes in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -0.5% over the period under review. In value terms, EU chemical wood pulp production reached 6,824 million EUR in 2014, growing by +0.1% annually. The countries with the largest production of chemical wood pulp in absolute volumes were Finland (4,310 thousand tonnes) and Sweden (3,983 thousand tonnes). The main producing countries showed negative dynamics in chemical wood pulp production from 2007 to 2014: Finland with -1.6% per year and Sweden with -1.7% per year. Sweden dominated in EU wood pulp production and trade. In 2014, it exported 68% of its total chemical wood pulp output. Of this amount, 16% was supplied to the Netherlands, where Sweden’s chemical wood pulp held a 16% share of the country’s total imports.
