2.2 MARKET TRENDS ... The U.S. edged Germany and France in global imports of mattresses, accounting for a 12% share (based on USD) compared to Germany's 11% and France's 7%. In 2015, U.S. mattress imports totalled 630 million USD, which was 121 million USD (24%) more than the year before. From 2007 to 2015, U.S. mattress imports showed steady growth, with an annual increase of 13.4% throughout the analysed period. Despite fierce competition, the U.S. continues to be one of the most attractive destinations for overseas suppliers. China was the main supplier of mattresses into the U.S., with Mexico finishing a distant second. China significantly strengthened its position in the U.S. import structure, from 49% in 2007 to 66% in 2015. By contrast, Mexico saw its share reduced to 20%.
