2. KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU production of plastics household and toilet articles showed a steady decrease, falling from 5.0 billion EUR in 2007 to 4.3 billion EUR in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -7.3% over the period under review. In value terms, EU household and toilet plastics production was 2.1 million tonnes in 2014, falling by -2.4% annually. Italy was the largest producer of household plastics in value terms, with 1.3 billion EUR. It was distantly followed by the United Kingdom (473 million EUR), Spain (319 million EUR) and Poland (258 million EUR). Positive dynamics in household plastics production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in the United Kingdom (+4.1% per year), while for the other three EU leaders (Italy, Spain and Poland) the paces of growth were more modest or negative. Italy dominated in EU household plastics production and ranked second in trade. In 2014, it exported 38% of its total plastics household and toilet articles output. Of this amount, 27% was supplied to France, where Italy’s household plastics held a 21% share of total French imports.
