2. KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU pork production showed positive dynamics, rising from 18.5 million tonnes in 2007 to 22.2 million tonnes in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of +2.7% over the period under review. In value terms, EU pork production reached 42.7 billion EUR in 2014, growing by +4.5% annually. Spain was the largest producer of pork in absolute volumes, with 4.1 million tonnes. It was distantly followed by France (1.9 million tonnes) and Denmark (1.2 million tonnes). Positive dynamics in pork production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Denmark (+20.5% per year), while for the other two EU leaders (Spain and France) the paces of growth were more modest or negative. Spain dominated in EU pork production and ranked second in trade. In 2014, it exported 27% of its total pork output. Of this amount, 24% was supplied to France, where Spain’s pork held a 71% share of total French imports.
