2. KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU thermostat production showed negative dynamics, falling from 339 million units in 2007 to 234 million units in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of 5.2% over the period under review. In value terms, EU thermostat production decreased to 1,079 million EUR in 2014, falling by 2.8% annually. Germany was the largest producer of thermostats in absolute volumes (111 million units). It was distantly followed by France (54 million units), Italy (25 million units), and the Czech Republic (19 million units). Positive dynamics in thermostat production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in France (+12.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.6% per year), while for Germany (-3.4% per year) and Italy (-6.0% per year) the paces of growth were negative. Germany dominated in EU thermostat production and trade. In 2014, Germany exported 98% of its total thermostat output. Of this amount, 10% was supplied to Hungary, where Germany’s thermostats held an 83% share of total Hungarian imports.
