2. KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU production of transmission parts and details showed mixed dynamics, eventually rising from 1,974 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 1,993 thousand tonnes in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of 0.1% over the period under review. In value terms, EU transmission gearing production was 22,341 million EUR in 2014, growing by 1.0% annually.

Germany was the largest producer of transmission machinery in absolute volumes (794 thousand tonnes). It was distantly followed by Denmark (87 thousand tonnes), Poland (58 thousand tonnes), Slovakia (26 thousand tonnes) and Hungary (20 thousand tonnes).

Positive dynamics in transmission machinery production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Hungary (+23.9% per year), Denmark (+12.9% per year) and Slovakia (+1.9% per year), while for Poland (-3.2% per year) and Germany (-2.5% per year) the paces of growth were negative.

Germany dominated in EU transmission gearing production and trade. In 2014, Germany exported 83% of its total transmission gearing output. Of this amount, 7% was supplied to Austria, where Germany’s transmission machinery held a 55% share of total Austria’s imports.
