2. EXTRA-EU TRADE – KEY FINDINGS From 2007 to 2014, EU yoghurt production showed mixed dynamics, increasing from 9,499 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 9,594 thousand tonnes in 2014. It expanded with a CAGR of 0.1% over the period under review. In value terms, EU yoghurt production reached 12,640 million EUR in 2014, growing by 0.9% annually. The countries with the largest production of yoghurt in absolute volumes were Germany (2,744 thousand tonnes), France (2,230 thousand tonnes), Poland (691 thousand tonnes) and Italy (437 thousand tonnes). Positive dynamics in yoghurt production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Italy (+4.3% per year), while for the other three EU leaders (Germany, France and Poland) the pace of growth was more modest or negative. Germany dominated in EU yoghurt production and trade. In 2014, Germany exported 23% of its total yoghurt output. Of this amount, 17% was supplied to the Netherlands, where Germany’s yoghurt held a 65% share of total the Netherlands imports.
