2. TRADE – KEY FINDINGS Greece is a net ethyl alcohol importer. In physical terms, imports consistently exceeded exports from 2007 to 2013. However, the difference in trade balance was more notable in value terms due to high import prices. Greece’s growth in ethyl alcohol supply is expected to slow to 6% (currently +24%), amidst sluggish domestic demand and economic slowdown. In the past, ethyl alcohol consumption was fueled by high purchasing power, but this engine of growth is now under pressure from the current economic slowdown.
