2. GLOBAL TRADE - KEY FINDINGS Australia seized control of the camel meat market. In 2014, Australia exported 1,406 tonnes of camel meat totaling 5,598 thousand USD, 14% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Morocco, where it supplied 93% of its total camel meat exports in value terms. Belgium was the leader in the global camel meat imports. The volume of Belgium imports for camel meat in 2014 was 79 tonnes. There was an annual decrease of 43% during the period from 2012 to 2014. In value terms, imports of camel meat dropped to 577 thousand USD in 2014, which was 1,640 thousand USD (74%) less than the year before. Belgium and Chile were among the main global suppliers of camel meat in 2014. Over the period from 2012 to 2014 only Australia showed positive growth. Other countries weakened their positions in the global camel meat exports, or showed the instability of supplies within the analyzed period. In 2014, Australia had only 4 trading partners: Morocco, Canada, Libya and the U.S. The share of Morocco increased significantly (+14 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-18 percentage points).
