2. GLOBAL TRADE - KEY FINDINGS China dominates in the global trade of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof. In 2014, China exported 2,770 million units of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof totaling 221,532 million USD, 1% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 28% of its total exports of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof in value terms, accounting for 52% of U.S.'s total imports. From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof. Over the period under review, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms this difference was even more pronounced. The U.S. and the Netherlands were among the other main global suppliers of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Mexico (+11% per year) and Japan (+11% per year). Still, it was China that strengthened its position in the global export structure. In addition to the U.S., China’s other top 4 trading partners were the Netherlands, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom, with a combined 51% share of China’s exports of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof.
