Blow’s memoir. James Robinson and Camille A. Brown co-direct with Brown choreographing. Baritone Will Liverman stars with soprano Angel Blue.

Great Performances Now Hear This… Friday, April 8 at 9pm Join Scott Yoo, renowned violinist and conductor of the Mexico City Philharmonic, for a new season of Now Hear This, that merges music, storytelling, travel, and culture, as he chases the secret histories of some of the greatest music ever written. Searching for Justice: Life After Lockup Wednesday, April 13 at 10pm This PBS NewsHour special hosted by Amna Nawaz focuses on the challenges people who have spent years behind bars encounter after release—from reconnecting with family, to finding work and housing, to staying out of prison or jail. POV On the Divide Monday, April 18 at 10pm Follow the story of three Latinx people living in McAllen, Texas, who, despite their views, are connected by the most unexpected of places: the last reproductive health clinic on the US/Mexico border. As threats to the clinic and their personal safety mount, these three are forced to make decisions they never could have imagined.

The Trick Friday, April 22 at 10pm This conspiracy thriller tells the story of the real-life 2009 Climategate scandal. Ayesha Rascoe Named New Host of ‘Weekend Edition Sunday’ NPR has selected veteran White House correspondent Ayesha Rascoe to host Weekend Edition Sunday, effective March 27. “I am beyond honored to take on this role and work with the fabulous team behind Weekend Edition Sunday. Covering the White House for NPR has been the highlight of my career so far. At NPR, I’ve found my voice and worked with amazing colleagues. I’ve also been privileged to get to know the dedicated listeners who make up the heart of public radio,” said Rascoe. “While I will miss the Washington Desk, I look forward to connecting to listeners every Sunday. And one day, I’m going to solve one of those puzzles!” Rascoe’s White House coverage has included a number of high-profile foreign trips, including President Trump’s 2019 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi, Vietnam, and President Obama’s final NATO summit in Warsaw, Poland in 2016. As a part of the White House team, she was also a regular on the NPR Politics Podcast.

Franklin’s influence was unmatched in his time, and his impact remains with us today. “If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are dead and rotten,” he said in Poor Richard’s o ot ph Almanack, “either write Ke n B u r ns things worth reading, or do things worth the writing.” Benjamin Franklin did both.

Ev

He wrote influential essays, coined words and phrases still used today, established enduring institutions in his adopted Philadelphia, introduced groundbreaking theories about the natural world, developed life-saving inventions, and contributed as much as anyone to the foundation of the American Republic. But Franklin’s life was full of contradictions, and his success came at a cost. Achievements as a

writer, printer, scientist, and statesman brought him worldwide acclaim but divided him from his family. Though he would later speak out against slavery, he owned and enslaved people in his middle age. He denounced the white men who killed native people indiscriminately while also championing the expansion of white settlements onto indigenous lands. He did all he could to enhance the British Empire, then gave everything he had to win America’s independence.

Ken Burns’s two-part, four-hour documentary Benjamin Franklin explores the revolutionary life of one of the 18th century’s most consequential and compelling personalities, whose work and words unlocked the mystery of electricity and helped create the United States. Franklin’s 84 years (1706-1790) spanned an epoch of momentous change in science, technology, literature, politics, and government—fields he himself advanced through a lifelong commitment to societal and self-improvement. Over the course of seven impossibly prolific decades, Franklin ascended professional and social ladders, rising from a printer’s apprentice in provincial Boston to the most popular man in Paris, France.
