** Estimated Totals are for Academic Year 2024-2025 and are based on 12 to 18 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and nine credit hours per semester for graduate students. Personal expenses (for example, transportation or entertainment) are not included in the total estimated costs. Additional fees and expenses may apply.
International Scholar Award
The International Scholar Award is valued at $5,000 per academic year and is renewable for up to three additional years. It is only open to international students who are NOT fully sponsored, referred by an agency, or receiving a reduced tuition rate. For those international students who qualify, there is no additional application required to be considered for this award.
Graduate Assistantships and Campus Employment
Individual academic departments may offer graduate assistantships and fellowships for your program. Selection for these opportunities is highly competitive. Contact the appropriate academic department for information on the availability and standards of appointment. In addition, assistantships may be available outside of your department. I-20 (Freshman and Graduate)
Financial support sufficient to cover your educational expenses for one (1) year must be demonstrated before the I-20 eligibility document is issued. For instructions, including the required affidavit of financial support, visit IndianaState.edu/fin-support.
Student Visas and English Language Proficiency
International students applying for admission to Indiana State University must apply for a student visa. Indiana State University accepts students in two student visa categories: F-1 and J-1.
Each embassy and consulate sets its own interview policies and procedures regarding student visas. Please be sure to consult your local U.S. embassy or consulate website for specific application instructions. To allow time for addressing any unforeseen problems, you are encouraged to apply for your visa several weeks before you travel.

International applicants must demonstrate evidence of English language proficiency to be considered for admission to Indiana State University. Accepted language tests include:

Steps to Apply
1. Complete the online application for admission at IndianaState.edu/apply/portal.
2. Submit unofficial transcripts. Indiana State University offers in-house credential evaluation. The credential evaluation process can take several weeks to complete. We strongly urge you to begin the process as early as possible. Your application will not be complete until we receive your transcripts.
3. Submit proof of English proficiency. Official scores (unless exempt) must be sent directly from the testing center to Indiana State University.
4. Submit a copy of your passport in the “supplemental materials” tab in the online admission application. If studying in the U.S., a copy of your current I-94, F-1 or J-1 visa, and I-20 or DS-2019, is also required. If you are currently in the U.S. but not studying, a copy of the applicable visa must also be submitted.
5. Submit a $65 (USD) non-refundable application fee (undergraduate) or a $55 (USD) non-refundable fee (graduate). The application fee is payable by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or check or international money order payable to Indiana State University. Submit the application fee to the Office of Admissions, Indiana State University.

Conditions of Admission
You must maintain an acceptable record through the completion of your current studies. Your admission is subject to cancellation if your final transcript indicates a significant decline in your academic achievement. You are required to notify the Indiana State University Office of Admissions if you have registered, enrolled, or attended any other institution not listed on your admission application.
