The CTA’s basic mechanism for force delivery is a ‘V’ bend which lies just anterior to the molar brackets. It is calibrated to deliver approximately 40 – 60 gms of force. Incisor intrusion requires about 50 gms of force directed apically along the centre of resistance. Intrusion 1mm / 6 weeks

In class II div 2 cases, full engagement in incisor brackets will create a moment for lingual root torque that will flare the incisors.
