Kalaivani School of Indian Classical Arts celebrates 40th anniversary

Nritya Mala was organized to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Kalaivani School of Indian Classical Arts. Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi presented a certificate of appreciation honouring the founder and artistic director of the school, Jayalakshimi Raman, for her dedicated service to the teaching and promotion of Indian arts, including classical Bharatanatyam dance, in Western Australia and Singapore for over five-and-ahalf decades.

The students of Kalaivani School demonstrated their skills through pure classical dance presentations of music and vocals based on Ragas, including the dance-drama based on the childhood mischiefs and miracles performed by Lord Krishna. All performances were choreographed by Guru Jayalakshimi Raman. The finale was a tribute by Jayalakshimi Raman to her guru Rukmini Devi Arundale, founder of Kalakshetra, and featured all senior students of Kalaivani School performing pure dance Thillana.
