Deakin University student Sarvjeet Singh wins Victorian Premier’s Award

Sarvjeet Singh from Deakin University, Geelong has won the coveted Victorian Premier’s Award for International Student of the Year 2023, recently. In 2022, Divyangana Sharma received this award.

About his achievement, Sarvjeet Singh in a LinkedIn post, wrote, “I am deeply honoured and thrilled to share that I have been awarded the Premier’s International Student of the Year Award. This award is the highest recognition an international student can receive, and I am truly grateful. This award recognises the student who has been able to make exceptional contributions to the victorian community and have had a positive global impact. Australia has played a huge role in my transformation while making me realise about my capabilities. I had never thought that I would be able to come this far.”

He further wrote, “From my friends to my family, boss to my colleagues and teachers to my classmates; everyone who I have met has played a huge role in making me who I am today. I would have never been able to achieve this award without all of you. This is a major milestone in my journey, and I would say that this is me just getting started and there is still a lot that I have to do.”
Sarbjeet is a final Year Undergraduate Civil Engineering student who has interests in construction management and infrastructure industry, backed by knowledge of engineering theories and principles. He began his career as an intern with the Geelong City Council and is now working as an Undergraduate Stormwater Engineer and is helping with flood assessments, He has recently started a project with the City of Greater Geelong to elaborate and understand the potential of Geelong’s retarding basins for tree plantation and public recreation activities.
Sarbjeet is also a student leader and is currently working on many leadership roles. He is currently serving as a success coach and student ambassador at Deakin University. He is also a student ambassador for Study Geelong. Sarbjeet has recently been elected as campus coordinator for students association of Deakin University.
