t has been a long journey to finalize this year’s program – as usual. When we finally can present the complete line-up, it is with great joy and pride. We have some of the very best artists the extreme metal scene has to offer. Both old heroes and newcomers. With a total of sixty artists, there should be more than enough to sink your teeth into.

Inferno Metal Festival is so much more than just a music festival. Inferno is a festival where you meet both old and new friends. A festival where bonds are formed and new experiences are gained. A festival where memories are created for a lifetime. An unique experience you can carry with you until the day you are laid to rest. Inferno is a festival where a lot of the same audience returns year after year – from all corners of the world.

SALT art & music is a unique cultural hub with several stages and saunas located by the Oslo Fjord – across from the Opera House and a short distance from Oslo Central Station.

A meal by the fire

In the outdoor area, you can warm yourself by our bonfire pans and experience the taste of the North. The game meat in our Sámiand Nordic-inspired menu is supplied by a South Sámi reindeer herding family that grazes their animals around Røros, in the middle of the country. Choose between reindeer stew, grill skewers, a plank with selected dried meat and stockfish – or choose something else from one of our food trucks.

During the festival, SALT opens all saunas from 10:00 in the morning every day. Start your day as you like – in Skroget, it’s calm, with rituals involving music, steam, and essential oils. In Ulven, you can have a morning chat, and in Árdna, you can meditate or sit quietly and look out over the city as it wakes up.

Good to know:

Skroget opens at 7:00 on Thursday and Friday. All saunas open at 10:00 every day. Wardrobes for men and women (bring a padlock and flip-flops. These can also be purchased at SALT).

Outdoor showers with hot water. Rituals every hour from 8:00. Each sauna session lasts for 2.5 hours. Swimwear is mandatory.

Coffee and tea can be purchased at the bar (full rights). After 16.00, there is a minimum age of 20. Bringing your own alcohol is not allowed.

Discount for showing your Inferno wristband. NOK 115 for entrance.

The book Nyanser av svart (666 Shades of Black) by author and journalist Harald Fossberg and photographer Paal Audestad charts the roots and origins of Norwegian Black Metal, as told by some of the main artists within the scene. Meet the authors and Jannicke Wiese-Hansen who designed the book cover at the Art Exhibition opening at the Hub!

We welcome you to a silent film concert where Attila Csihar’s Void ov Voices will create the music for the classic German horror film ”Nosferatu” from 1922. The silent film concert will take place at the cinema Vega Scene on Saturday, March 30th, at daytime during Inferno Metal Festival 2024.

Tears In Battle / Hearts Of Steel

Vaterland Thursday March 28, 13:00. Artist and filmmaker Hedda Bremseth has a knack for capturing exceptional moments – those instances when the perfect elements converge in a precise setting, creating a potent mixture of unrealized potential on the brink of ignition. One such moment was when the metal band MANOWAR performed their first (and likely last) concert in Svalbard. In "Tears of Battle / Hearts of Steel," Bremseth dives into explorations of identity and community within music at large, with a specific focus on the metal genre. This is portrayed through the lens of the artist’s personal identity journey and her deeply participatory approach to the subject.

Thursday, March 28, at 13:00 on the second floor at Vaterland. Following the screening, there will be an engaging discussion with the filmmaker about the impactful experience with Manowar.

The Black Metal Bus sightseeing with Anders Odden is back! A trip through some of the places that marked the beginning of the legend that became Norwegian Black Metal.

For the normal music fan the story of Norwegian black metal is essentially something about murder, suicide and church fires.

One-on-One with Jessica Pimentel: How DOES She Do It?

Join us for a chat with Jessica Pimentel (Orange is the New Black, The Horror of Dolores Roach, Brujeria) as we discuss how following her passions has allowed for her to make her mark successfully across multiple industries that are generally difficult enough

to master on their own. We'll cover all aspects of Jessica's impressive career as a musician, actress, spiritualist, and most recently, director and producer.

We will also be screening, for the first time ever, a very special preview for her newest short film, which she stars in and executive produces, entitled Hammer (Or Martillo in its original Spanish). It has recently been accepted to the Tribeca Film Festival for 2024 and features Jessica co-voicing Satan (yeah, you read that right) as well as a song from Brujeria (Nuclear Blast Records).

Dracula Unveiled

Dive into the mystique world of Transylvania. The panel entitled 'Dracula Unveiled' will be a captivating conversation between Andrei Pogacias and Gunnar Sauermann. They will try to unravel the mystery and enigma of Transylvania – a land full of fairy-tale allure and rich, yet bloody, history. The topics during the panel will cover the historical legacy of Vlad the Impaler and the artistic interpretations that continue to inspire a world in all kinds of art manifestations.

With a focus on the Norwegian metal scene as a musical manifestation, the panel is visualized by the artwork of Costin Chioreanu, inspired by this intriguing theme. Costin Chioreanu is a Romanian graphic designer, illustrator and video artist.

Dracula Unveiled will serve as a cultural bridge that brings Transylvania, a part of Romania, and Norway closer together. This connection is made possible through Andrei Pogacias' participation, known for his historical insights, including an appearance on Netflix's 'Rise of Empires: Ottoman' Season 2. Gunnar Sauermann, a renowned and respected journalist in the metal scene, will serve as the moderator, and his longstanding fascination with Transylvania adds a unique perspective to the discussion. How do I get in at the club concerts on Wednesday?

You must exchange your 4-day festival ticket to a wristband at Clarion Hotel The Hub between 16.00 and 22:00. If you don’t have a 4-day festival ticket, then you can buy tickets at the door at SALT and Vaterland.

Can I get in at the club concerts without a 4-day festival pass?

Yes, there will be tickets for sale at the door if it’s not fully packed. If you get there early, it’s a bigger chance to get it.

Restricted items you are not allowed to bring inside the venue: Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge such as spikes, knives, scissors, umbrellas etc. Food and drink (all sorts) and containers of such. Items will be confiscated by security at entrance.

I need help or there is an emergency situation. What should I do?

Contact the professional security staff (ProSec and "Ordensvakt"). The staff will be wearing official ID-badges.

Can I go out and re-enter later?

Yes, as long as you have a valid wristband on. Bringing any sort of drinks out of the venue is not allowed outside the designated

areas on the roof terrace or outside the main entrance (the fenced area between Kjøkkenet and the main entrance).

Where is the cloak room?

Inside the main entrance of Rockefeller.

Where can I get ear protection buds?

In all the bars at Rockefeller.

Where and what time are the artist signings?

The artist signings are located in the Annex area next to the tattoo artists. See the schedule on page 16.

I’ve lost my wristband/it has come apart/it is too tight, what do I do? Visit the accreditation office for help.
