Releasing Wreck & Ruin in September
I
n 2008, Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson became one of the only married couples in the history of the Australian album charts to have an album collaboration debut at number one, coming second to none other than John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Almost five years on, Kasey and
Shane have recorded Wreck & Ruin, the highly anticipated follow up to their 2008 platinum #1 hit album, Rattlin’ Bones. “Having been almost five years since we made Rattlin’ Bones we thought it was time to ‘tempt fate’ and challenge our marriage by making another album together,” the
couple said. “We have both made solo albums in between but in the back of our minds we always knew we would end up making music together again.” According to Kasey and Shane, the writing process fell into place easier than they had planned so they grabbed a few of their >>

“Wreck & Ruin was born and gave us a chance to revisit the sounds of music that we love to make together where it can be traditional, but not conventional.” musician friends and recorded everyone jamming the songs on a farm for a week. “When the situation is right, it’s not difficult for us to make music together,” said Kasey who lives with Shane and their children on the Central Coast of NSW. “We click on that level.” “Wreck & Ruin was born and gave us a chance to revisit the sounds of music that we love to make together where it can be traditional, but not conventional.” Wreck & Ruin was recorded in eight days at Foggy Mountain, and the 13-track album captures each of the various elements of Kasey and Shane’s love for music – from roots to gospel, bluegrass to folk, but always country to the core. The album opens with the hymn-inspired Til Death Do Us Part, before launching into the title track, a mixture of banjo and bruised

fiddle work all purposefully built around country influences. It’s as if the pair are stomping in a barnyard weighing up their differences, jamming in the name of revolution and taking a traditional genre and shaking it up for what it’s worth. The album’s first single Adam & Eve is loaded with religious imagery. There are serpents and sin and storytelling that’s part fairytale and two shakes Biblical. “There is no symbolic connection between us and Adam and Eve,” said Shane. “I don’t know if that story ended that well anyway!” Other songs like The Quiet Life beg the question of wishing for a life away from the big city. “That song is about our lives,” Kasey said. “A lot of people and couples can relate to that.” “We’ve all thought hey I just want to swap

this life for a quiet life for a while. It pops into your mind every now and again. I would get bored. Shane would love it though.” “Absolutely,” Shane added. “We wrote that sitting on the back porch of the cabin and looking at the mountains and I was thinking I could easily do this instead of making this album and going on tour. I could easily sit here strumming and drink scotch all day.” Up Or Down was inspired by a day of listening to the gospel sounds of The Louvin Brothers’ 1950 album Satan Is Real while Sick As A Dog literally gets its name from the entire family being swiped by the flu earlier this year, and ploughs through a fast, nasty bluegrass-stomp. The new album is out Friday 7th September, and the new single, Adam and Eve, is out now.

eld over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend from Friday 28th September to Monday 1st October, this year’s Meeka Festival will open on the Friday evening with family fun and games on the town oval including a sideshow of entertainment for the kids, market stalls and a special visit from Sydney or the Bush with their live animal theatre group. The DJ will then crank things up with more live entertainment, the kids will be treated to recycled art workshops and 3D chalk art and the evening will culminate with a fantastic fireworks display from Mid-West Fireworks. Saturday morning will begin with a colourful float parade along the Great Northern Highway with businesses and community groups vying for the best float. The police will generally assist leading the procession with their cars and following with two horse mounted officers. Sydney or the Bush will then perform again with their Aussie folklore dedicated to preserving the Aussie identity. There will be more amazing 3D chalk art to compliment the community art gallery which will be open all morning. The annual trolley race will complete the morning’s events. On Sunday, all the cowboys and cowgirls will ride in to town for the rodeo. Then everyone will frock up to dance the night away to Murphy’s Law as the Shire holds its annual Outback Ball. ravellers are “breaking up their holiday breaks” by staying over at the world’s holiday hotspots on the way to or from their primary destinations. Flight Centre Limited global executive general manager of marketing Colin Bowman said growth in the number of airlines servicing Australia, coupled with the emergence of low cost and hybrid carriers, had opened up a variety of new holiday options for travellers. “As the range of airfare choices takes off, travellers are finding that the conventional flight path from A to B is not always the best or most interesting travel option,” he said. “In

some cases, flying direct to the destination may not be the cheapest flight either.” To highlight some of the interesting alternatives that are now available, Flight Centre’s airfare experts have compiled a range of interesting “stay over” itineraries.
1) New York, via Hawaii
For most Australians, the journey to the Big Apple typically includes a flight via Los Angeles, but an exciting new option was made available in June, when Hawaiian Airlines introduced direct services from Honolulu to New York’s Kennedy (JFK) airport.
2) New Zealand, with a South American flavour
Competition is intense on the Trans Tasman routes, which are now serviced by Qantas, Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia and a host of highly rated international airlines including Emirates, Aerolineas Argentina and Lan Chile. In addition to flying to NZ, travellers taking off to Santiago with Lan can also stopover in Papeete and Easter Island.
3) London, via the Maldives

5) Rome, via Dubai
While many travellers still fly to Europe via Asia, Emirates’ and Etihad’s rapid growth in recent years has really put the Middle East on the stay over map for Australians. Passengers taking off from Melbourne on Emirates can stay over in Dubai on the way to or from Rome and other European and UK destinations.
6) LA, via Fiji
The quickest way to get to Los Angeles is, of course, the direct route to Los Angeles International Airport. But there’s also a host of indirect options for travellers to consider. Fijian carrier Air Pacific, which flies from several Australian cities, offers connections from Nadi to Los Angeles and other North American destinations, including Vancouver.
7) Bali and Phuket combined
These two holiday havens have long been favourites for Australian travellers. But there’s no need to choose between them, as it’s now easy and affordable to visit both. In addition to taking the traditional route to LA with V Australia, Qantas and others, Aussie travellers can choose to get beached in Hawaii by flying Hawaiian Airlines and stopping over in Honolulu.

Charlotte Pass – If altitude is what you’re after, Charlotte Pass will take you all the way to the top! It’s the highest resort in Australia and lies in the heart of the NSW Snowy Mountains. It’s a mere 8km from the Perisher Valley. Here you’ll be amazed at the majestic views of Mt Kosciuszko and The Snowy Mountain Range. Charlotte Pass is a little more difficult to access, only by Oversnow Transport and is much smaller than other resorts, but what this resort lacks in convenience, it makes up for in some of the most consistent and best-quality natural snowfalls in Australia.

You’ll find plenty of ski-in/ski-out accommodation and the resort area can accommodate up to 7000 people, so there’s no shortage of lively atmosphere, fun bars, great restaurants and vibrant nightlife with over 30 places to choose from. There’s also a spa, cinema and plenty of shops for when you need a little downtime. Mt Baw Baw – Mount Baw Baw snowfields offer the closest downhill skiing to Melbourne; an easy 120km drive away. With 35 hectares of groomed runs, seven ski lifts, three snow play areas, 10kms of groomed x-country ski trails and unlimited terrain amongst the snowgums to explore, you will be hard pressed to find a better outdoor venue so close to Melbourne. Given the nature of the terrain and the lift network, Mt Baw Baw snowfields are ideal for the snowboarder, downhill and cross-country skier. Lake Mountain – Lake Mountain is just 120km from Melbourne, making it ideal for short and weekend trips, so it’s little wonder it’s the most visited snow resort in Australia. It specialises in crosscountry skiing and snowplay, including
tobogganing, snowshoe walking and snow bike riding. It also holds numerous events including snow sculpture competitions and its own music festival. Its unique sub-alpine environment is a great introduction to the snow and the majority of the trails are for beginners and intermediate cross-country skiers. It’s important to note, however, that snowboarding is not permitted, as Lake Mountain isn’t a traditional downhill ski resort. There’s no resort accommodation, but there are plenty of great places to stay nearby in the Yarra Valley, Marysville Triangle and Alexandra.

who’s complained about this! So this fantastic arrangement, coupled with the fact that FIFO workers get to keep their frequent flyer points, makes for a great excuse to take a holiday. It's not always so well received by educators though. West Australian Education Minister Liz Constable recently singled out FIFO parents for criticism on the issue of taking extended holidays during term time. "The figures for student attendance show rates at schools have failed to improve, despite a government campaign to increase them, particularly those with parents who are fly-in-flyout workers who organise holidays during the school term," she told ABC Perth. "One day off when they don't have a legitimate reason is not acceptable; children are required to go to school." I have to admit, I'm one of those parents. Just this year we took our children (both early primary) out of school for a two-week trip to Bali, and we did the same last year to Thailand. We weighed up the pros and cons of taking the kids out of school and decided that time together as a family (coupled with the life experiences they would receive while on holiday) far outweighed the time missed at school. So with that in mind, here are my tips for making the most of valuable annual leave: • Write a letter to the principal well ahead of time, explaining the reason for your child’s absence from school. Forward a copy to their
class teachers too, requesting any work they might miss while away. Then, of course, ensure this gets done before you return. • Choose a destination with a different culture - an eye-opening experience will widen your children’s horizons. • Get the kids to write a journal of what they've been doing each day. Include rubbings of coins from whichever country you’re in, airline tickets and attraction ticket stubs of the places you’ve been. • Travel with another family. True, this is risky, but choose friends who have travelled before and have like-minded interests. Make sure the kids all have a good relationship and you parent in similar styles. We have found that travelling with friends actually takes some of the intense pressure off when you are in unfamiliar surroundings. And when the kids are all having fun, mum and dad can have some one-on-one time as well. Organise a swap night when your mates look after all the kids and you get a romantic night out. • If you are staying in the one place, hire a
villa. It’s cheaper than you think, especially when sharing with another family. In Asia they often come with a pool and when the kids are in bed it's downstairs for a little adult time. Cuts out the need to hire unknown babysitters or being stuck in your motel room because the kids are exhausted but its only 7.30pm. • Organise day trips. You’ll be picked up from your villa/resort and taken for a day of activities. Your guide will be an amazing source of local knowledge and will teach you some phrases to help you on your way. A quick Google before you leave will give you endless options. My advice is to wait until you arrive at your destination before booking. That way you can check the weather and make sure it’s a nice day. No point visiting that volcano if it’s covered in fog! • If travelling overseas isn’t something you’ve done before, contact a travel agent who will help guide you with your plans. Look at this as a great opportunity to model resilience and problem-solving skills. BEATING THE BLACK DAY BLUES: Black days are a bit like Mondayitis, only on a bigger scale. For some miners, it’s the final day of

If you do feel guilty about working away or long hours on the job, offload to supportive friends and/or family to get it off your chest, rather than changing how you interact with your kids. DON’T LET MONEY MAKE YOU MISERABLE: Don’t alter your commitments (i.e. new house or bigger loan repayments) until you are sure that mining works for you. FIFO/DIDO families don’t do too well when they feel stuck with the lifestyle. WORKING AWAY – HELPING CHILDREN TO COPE: Allow your children to talk about how they feel, and offer an extra cuddle when they’re sad. Avoid saying things like “be brave” or “don’t be silly” because they might start hiding feelings from you, thinking they are unacceptable feelings to talk about. Encouraging and even expecting your teenager to take part in family activities and help around the house is not only good for their confidence; it’s great for setting up opportunities for communication. SEX AND THE MINING COUPLE: If you have differing libidos, don’t fall into the trap of thinking the ‘problem’ rests with the person who wants less or more sex. Setting the issue up as one person’s problem just makes it harder to tackle and increases the tension, frustration, guilt and blame. Try approaching your differing sex drives as a team, working together to break your ‘sex cycles’. MARRIAGE BREAKDOWNS AND INFIDELITY: If you have a strong relationship based on mutual respect, interests and love for each other (and you can openly discuss any worries or issues as they arise) there is no reason the FIFO/DIDO lifestyle should negatively impact your marriage or partnership. THE FIRST BITE When decluttering the first rule is use the Swiss Cheese approach. Don't look at the overwhelming entirety of decluttering your house. Look at it one area at a time. Make a mental list. For example the linen press, the kitchen, the boy's room. MANAGEABLE CHUNKS Break the areas up into manageable chunks once again, for example, clothes, toys and furniture. Look at these areas separately keeping in mind: will it fit them next season? Does the furniture layout work efficiently with their maturing requirements? And what needs to be on show and what does not? SORT INTO 4 GROUPS Once you have reorganised the
furniture and put aside what is no longer required, you are ready to sort into four groups. 1. Garage sale/flea market sale items 2. Online sale items 3. Family or friends 4. Charity Flea market sales: A great way to sell your items and generally more successful than a stand-alone garage sale. Many communities have these events regularly, and they're great if you want a little cash for the things you might have given away. Selling online: Another way to get good money for your unwanted items, but be warned - unless you have something that will sell for at least $200, it isn't worth doing once you take into account postage and online sale fees.
Family/friends: Friends and family are a great resource when you're decluttering. Charity store: This is my last stop and it is reassuring that they will take most of want you haven't been able to get rid of at this point. Make sure that you take these items directly to a charity store, as clothing bins for example are owned by rag wholesalers so non-fabric items usually end up in landfill. Most charity stores cannot resell electrical items, for safety reasons, and even brand new items will not be accepted. Decluttering and organising doesn't need to be an overwhelming undertaking. It can provide you with extra mental clarity in an otherwise overwhelming day. n

When you do not exercise, you do not expend as many calories, and you will not sleep as well at night. 2) Never skip meals. When you do not eat, it sends a message to your body to shut down your metabolism, this in turn make you feel very sluggish 3) Place yourself as a priority over your break and consider gaining some real down-time. If you verbally let your loved ones know that you need a good rest, they will understand much more.
Consider this advice to get you through to your next break stress-free: 1) Make sure that you continue to exercise.

Handling Criticism BY KELLY MANIATIS, REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST AND MEMBER OF THE AUSTRALIAN PSYCHOLOGICAL SOCIETY
W
hen we are criticised, it’s easy to feel defensive. After all, criticism implies that we’ve done something wrong, or that we’re not meeting the performance levels we should. Well, the good news is that no one is perfect! All of us make mistakes at some point or another. Think about it: if you’ve never made a mistake, it probably means that you’ve never pushed yourself to work outside your comfort zone; you’ve never taken risks; or that you’ve never stuck your neck out for anything. That’s no way to develop your skills or career! There are some constructive responses to reasonable criticism: Adjust your Attitude: Start by looking at criticism as an opportunity to learn and do better. The person offering the feedback is usually keen for you to improve your performance. You can make sure that the conversation starts on the right note by approaching the situation with an open mind, and by having a sense of gratitude that someone’s taking the time to help you. Resist the temptation to be defensive! Disconnect: It’s important to realise that fair criticism is about something you’ve done or said, not about you personally. Try to disconnect your personal feelings from the criticism, so that you can see the truth in what the other person is saying. Really Listen: Make sure that you actually listen to what is being said. It can be easy to just nod in apparent agreement, while in reality you’re busy thinking about what you’re going to say as soon as the other person has stopped talking. That isn’t really listening: you need to listen actively in order to understand just what it is that they’re saying. Don’t Respond Immediately: Always take the time to formulate your thoughts, and make >>

sure you’re calm before you say anything. When we fire back immediately, we often say things we regret and which can make us look unprofessional. If you find that you need more than a few seconds to calm down, say so. Ask for some time to formulate your response, and come back with it later. And if the criticism was received by email, don’t press the reply button straight away! Paraphrase the Criticism: Repeating what the person has just said in your own words is great way to make sure that you’ve understood them fully. Use a non-aggressive approach here. Remain calm, and rephrase what you think they’ve said in an unthreatening way. You might say, “So if I understand you correctly, you think that…” Find the Facts: If the person offering criticism isn’t being specific enough, then ask questions. It’s important to find out what the real issue is. If your boss says, “I didn’t like your last report”, then get details. What didn’t they like about it? Admit Mistakes People who own up to their mistakes are respected and admired. When you freely take responsibility for something that hasn’t

Come up with a plan for how you’re going to fix the situation and avoid the same mistake next time. Be Thankful After you’ve gained perspective on the experience, thank the person for taking the time to give you feedback. Many people feel uncomfortable giving criticism, just as many people are uncomfortable receiving it. Explain how it has helped you, and what you’ve learned from the experience.
KEY POINTS There’s a big difference in fair and unfair criticism, but sometimes the line between the two is hard to see. Fair criticism can
worked out as you would have wished, you’re demonstrating professionalism and maturity. If you’re in the wrong, admit it and apologise. Agreeing with your critic puts you both on common ground and can often foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication. Learn from the Experience Fair criticism can help us improve our performance, if we take the time to learn from it. So, spend some time thinking about what happened and what your critic said.

pectacular concerts, arts festivals, food and wine events and international sporting competitions are what you’ll find on Western Australia’s event’s calendar throughout 2012-13. This year, Tourism WA through its events division Eventscorp will support more than 100 events in over 70 locations across the state, including a record number of events in the state’s regions. Forty-five events will be supported by the Regional Events Scheme (RES), which is jointly funded by Eventscorp and Royalties for Regions, a WA State Government initiative. RES funding enables more sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events to be held throughout regional WA, adding vibrancy to the communities and enriching visitor holiday experiences. 2012-13’s event line up sees the return of some of Western Australia’s most iconic events, plus the introduction of some exciting new international events. The inaugural Perth International will be

hether you are viewing a painting for its inspiration or investment potential, there are ways that enhance the appreciation process - both for the viewer and the painting. How can we really tell if a painting is good or not? The beauty or impact of a painting can be a very personal thing. But there’s more to valuable art than just a pretty face.
The Power and the Passion Myth, art and spirituality lie at the heart of many cultures. Religious reverence has powered some of man’s most fantastical achievements, particularly in art and architecture. From the Egyptian Pyramids to the Sistine Chapel, regardless of our personal beliefs, we truly stand in awe. There is certainly plenty of art that reflects beliefs and stories in such passionate ways that just viewing them somehow connects us.

Whether they are cave drawings, a canvas of Christianity or an Aboriginal Dreamtime depiction, they will be images that show and share, reflecting how someone somewhere cares. There was a time when wealth was

lavishly bestowed on spiritual or religious art, particularly in eras such as Renaissance Europe and ancient Egypt. In comparison, our Indigenous cultures see the riches of storytelling as paramount to the art’s value. But then spirituality is not about monetary richness. It is more about fulfilling our lives and souls. In our modern Western world at least, the artists most dedicated to creating images that uplift the soul and inspire positive passion for life are frequently generous artisans who are doing it out of love. Perhaps this is a predominantly feminine trait, with gentleness and joy being the reward as well the gift. Spiritual art is a diverse genre whose expression gives us all the freedom to fly and dream for a greater good. It is also again attracting a return to high wealth investment. Are we becoming tired of confronting, aggressive or art that shocks or depresses the senses?

Artists of the Ark Discussing artist’s spiritual beliefs tends to sound like a testament to their good behaviour! None of us are perfect, but two words aptly describe Davson for a character reference and her spirituality: generosity and gratitude. Her art, particularly since the mid 1990s, has been created with the intention of uplifting and inspiring others in their faith. Believing we can make a difference in the world may sound presumptuous, but if we are prepared to give of ourselves in the attempt, and meet like-minded people along the way, it might just work. And for Davson it did - and still does. For example, her environmental and world peace charity ventures and initiatives over the past two decades contributed towards many improvements and changes in our global community, as well as helped to bring out the best in everyone they touched. In 2002, Davson also became a Founding Patron of the Multifaith Association of Newcastle & Hunter Region. Finding common ground between various faiths, the association organised functions that

celebrated the region’s cultural diversity and its compatibilities. On a personal level, and as a member of Sukyo Mahikari since 1995, Davson is comfortable with faith having different flavours. Sukyo Mahikari includes people of different religious preferences that see their participation in sharing the Light of God and all creation as a natural progression from their foundation beliefs. And gratitude is a key component of any form of spirituality. Davson incorporates these beliefs into her art, and with some surprising results. The more dedicated to inspiring others she became, the higher the values of her paintings also became. Now several of her major works are re-selling for substantive seven figure sums. One of the highlights of Davson’s spirituality and artistic career was when her painting With Gratitude Comes Growth was gifted by the Australia-Oceania Region of Sukyo Mahikari for the collection of the Hikaru Memorial Museum Takayama Japan in 1996. Then from February to July 2003, her flagship of spiritual art On The Ark of Salvation became the frontcover illustration for six monthly copies of the

Sukyo Mahikari International Journal. As an artist who works mainly on commission, On The Ark of Salvation is one of only a handful of personal major works created by Davson. Since the painting’s creation in 1999, the image has acquired an impressive provenance through publications and major retrospective exhibitions of Davson’s art in public galleries. In 2011, it sold for $1.3 million, making it the highest valued painting by a living Australian artist. Her inspirational paintings are now a highly valued commodity, and a new art movement is subsequently taking shape. On 3rd November 2011 in Takayama Japan, the Arkists or Artists of the Ark was formally pronounced with Davson as the acknowledged leader and artistic inspiration. The movement invites all artists who create in any medium for the uplifting joy and gratitude of their spiritual beliefs to become connected. Could this be a resurgence of spiritual art rising to the role of lead violin instead of second fiddle in the wonderful orchestra of art and life?

NGARDA CIVIL AND MINING
T
he demand for local Indigenous employees in the mining industry, particularly in WA, has risen to unprecedented levels. In strategic response, mining companies are increasingly committed to attracting, recruiting and training Indigenous workers. This process is a valuable investment into a business, but complex issues can slow the process: requirements to train, house and address the health issues of indigenous employees can prove time-intensive, costly and culturally challenging. Ngarda, Australia’s largest owned and operated Indigenous contracting company, is uniquely placed to assist mining companies in meeting their Indigenous employment goals while delivering real benefits to Aboriginal people. SHOTCRETING SUCCESS

YBAR has recently completed a unique shotcreting project for Mancala at Bass Metals’ Fossey Mine located in Tasmania. The project was to create a ‘plug’ which would hold back a considerable amount of water in the mine. This particular type of ‘plug’ is only the third time in the world and has never been completed in Australia. The project commenced immediately and was completed within 10 days due to PYBAR’s ability to mobilise straight away. PYBAR was chosen for the contract due to a referral from a former client who was on site in Tasmania, when the issue was discussed. The team of three from PYBAR had a tight time frame to complete this shotcreting project as a concrete pour could not be used because it would not seal and be able to be cast in the manner required by the engineers, creating structural deficiencies. PYBAR had to work within the minimal time due to water build-up to successfully complete this project. “The team from PYBAR did a very difficult job in poor conditions and completed it well,” said Pat Ball, the underground manager at Fossey Mine. “Their competence, attitude and work ethic are a credit to PYBAR.” For more information, visit www.pybar.com.au n

SAFETY BRIEFING Please listen carefully to the Safety Briefing and take the time to read through the Safety On Board Card prior to takeoff. This will help you familiarise yourself with the emergency exits, brace position and the location of your life jacket. DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (DVT) It has been reported that some airline passengers have developed clots in deep blood vessels, often in the lower legs, as a result of sitting for an extended period without exercise or movement. This condition is known medically as Deep Vein Thrombosis, or DVT. If blood clot fragments break off and lodge in other areas of the body such as the lungs, they may cause a possible fatal pulmonary thrombosis when a person starts walking after being immobile for a long time. The risk factors for DVT include varicose veins, recent surgery or injury in the lower legs, malignant diseases, past history of DVT, obesity, pregnancy and recent childbirth. Anyone with these risk factors is advised to consult a doctor prior to flying to find out how to minimise the risk of DVT. During the flight, we recommend passengers take the following precautions: • Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and minimise intake of alcohol. • Exercise onboard the aircraft by moving and stretching your toes, rotating your ankles, raising and lowering each leg and massaging your calves gently. In addition, we suggest that you avoid crossing your legs. SEATBELTS Seatbelts must be firmly fastened for take-off, landing and whilst the seatbelt sign is illuminated. We do recommend that your seatbelt be fastened at all times whilst seated in case of unexpected turbulence. TRAY TABLES/SEAT BACKS Please ensure your tray tables and your seat backs are in the upright position for take-off and landing. SMOKING Government regulations strictly prohibit smoking on all domestic flights. Special smoke detectors have been fitted to the toilet on board the aircraft. Smoking is also prohibited on the tarmac and throughout the terminal buildings. CARRY ON LUGGAGE If you have carry on luggage please stow it in the overhead lockers or under the seat in front of you. Hand luggage not correctly stowed may cause injury in the event of unexpected turbulence. ELECTRONIC DEVICES Hazards exist to aircraft systems by Electro-Magnetic Interference from Portable Electronic Devices. The interference can cause aircraft systems to malfunction. To provide adequate protection for the aircraft please note that: mobile phones are not to be used at any time on board the aircraft. Other devices such as compact disc players, portable palm top and lap top computers, cassette players, personal electronic organisers or personal video games may be used during cruise only, NOT when the aircraft is taking off and landing.
