From Fashion to Publishing: The Journey of Lady JB Owen
BAJ USA: To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself—both personally and professionally?
Lady JB Owen: Absolutely! I’m truly inspired by the mission of igniting humanity. I’ve been a publisher for almost a decade, but my journey began in fashion design. I studied fashion, design, and textile science right after high school and launched my own label. Later, I worked in television and major motion pictures as a costume and wardrobe supervisor.
Creativity has always been my passion. As a mother, I realized there weren’t many functional clothing options for boys. Living in Vancouver, I saw the need for UVprotected, breathable, and practical children’s clothing. That realization led me to create a clothing line that addressed those needs.
Like many entrepreneurs, I faced challenges along the way, which led me to my next big venture—writing my story. That experience ultimately inspired me to start a publishing house. Since then, I’ve published over 800 authors, helping them share their powerful Ignite Moments™—life-changing experiences that shape who we become.
From Adversity to Empowerment Publishing
BAJ USA: That’s incredible! You mentioned 800 authors. How did that happen?
Lady JB Owen: Life’s difficulties and struggles often push us toward self-blame and shame. Some people allow adversity to define them, becoming victims of their

circumstances, while others transform their hardships into strength, becoming the heroes of their own stories. I recognized the need to share these inspiring stories, not just for personal growth but also to encourage future generations. That’s why I started Ignite Publishing™, focusing on authentic, real-life Ignite Moments™ that resonate across cultures and borders. Now, with 800 authors published across 47 countries, we have produced 26 international best-selling compilation books and over 50 solo books. Ignite Publishing™ has become a leader in empowerment publishing, helping people turn their challenges into sources of inspiration for others.
The Power of Storytelling and the Ignite Ripple Effect
BAJ USA: That’s truly powerful! You’ve mentioned the Effect of the Ignite Ripple Effect—what does that mean?
Lady JB Owen: The Ignite Ripple Effect is the idea
Continued from Page 11
that when one person shares their story, it has the power to ignite someone else’s journey. Readers see themselves in those stories and think, If that person can overcome challenges, so can I!
Our philosophy is based on the Triple Win:
1. The author wins because they get to share their story. 2. The publishing house wins by helping create impactful books. 3. The reader wins by gaining inspiration and motivation.
Beyond books, we take this philosophy further by building schools to promote literacy. So far, we’ve built two schools in Indonesia using recycled plastic blocks. All proceeds from our online book sales contribute to these projects, ensuring children have access to education.
BAJ USA: That’s amazing! Can you tell us about IgniteX?
Lady JB Owen: IgniteX is an exciting new speaking experience that blends elements of TEDx and American Idol. We bring together 10 speakers to share their Ignite Moments™ in a 10-minute speech, using 10 slides, for a chance to win $10,000.
Each speaker delivers their story on a grand stage in Salt Lake City, where judges and audience members vote for the winner. This event, which will be broadcast live in 192 countries, is a powerful way to showcase transformational moments that inspire action.
Gatherrama 2025: A Global Event for Inspiration
BAJ USA: What about Gatherrama? How does that fit into your mission?
Lady JB Owen: Gatherrama is one of our largest annual events. In May 2025, we’ll be hosting it in Salt Lake City. It’s an incredible three-day gathering that brings people together from around the world to ignite their:
• Business and brand
• Mindset and breakthrough moments
• Speaking abilities and storytelling skills
We also use Gatherrama as a platform to raise funds for two new schools in Africa, furthering our mission of Igniting Humanity™ through education and empowerment.
Aviation and the Power of Dreaming Big
BAJ USA: You’ve had some aviation experiences. Can you share a little about that?
Lady JB Owen: Absolutely! Aviation has been a significant part of my life. My uncle owned a private jet, and as a child, he would take us on exciting trips—to Disneyland, Las Vegas, and the Hoover Dam. He always encouraged me to dream big, and that lesson has stayed with me throughout my life.
My father was also a pilot and owned a Cessna 310. He loved flying our family on weekend trips, often over the Rocky Mountains and to the coast. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the freedom of flight and limitless possibilities. As an adult, I’ve had the opportunity to fly privately for business and events, and I truly see the value and efficiency of business aviation.
The Future: The Largest Compilation Book in History
BAJ USA: What’s next for you? Any new projects on the horizon?
Lady JB Owen: Yes! My biggest project right now is setting a Guinness World Record for the largest compilation book ever created. I’m bringing together 280 authors to share stories of how they are Igniting Humanity™ and making a positive impact on the world.
With AI becoming more prevalent, I believe it’s critical to preserve the essence of humanity. This book will serve as a testament to the resilience, compassion, and greatness of human beings.
Additionally, I’m developing an Ignite Moments™ app, where every person on the planet can share their transformative moments. Imagine a world where we have 8 billion people sharing 8 billion Ignite Moments™— connecting us all through the power of storytelling.
BAJ USA: That’s incredible! You’re doing so many impactful things. Is there anything you’d like to add?
Lady JB Owen: Just that anything is possible. I want people to know that their stories matter—their challenges, victories, and lessons have the power to inspire others.
And most importantly, dream big! If you believe in something, act and make it happen. Thank you so much for this conversation—I truly appreciate it!
BAJ USA: Thank you, Lady JB Owen! This has been an inspiring discussion. We’re excited to see the incredible things you’ll accomplish next.

By Kevin Singh, Founder and CEO at Icarus Jet
For years, business aviation’s holy grail has been an affordable, rapid, and dependable inflight connectivity solution. Inflight slow satellite internet is a relic of the past, and the newest technology brings uninterrupted connectivity. In a nutshell, the battle is now between SpaceX’s Starlink and traditional KA/KU band satellite networks.
While the arrival of Starlink has rattled the market with its unprecedented speeds and low latency, KA and KU bands are still the gold standard for most operators. For aircraft owners and operators, then, the question is: do they make the switch? At Icarus Jet, we have some thoughts that might support a decision.
The Starlink disruption
Through utilizing a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, Starlink transformed the face of connectivity. Unlike traditional geostationary (GEO) satellites used in KA and KU band systems, Starlink’s LEO satellites are much closer to the Earth, reducing latency significantly. This makes real-time applications such as video conferencing, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and high-definition streaming even more efficient.
Various business aviation operators have found Starlink to be very stable and fast. They also carry two wireless access points aboard, meaning the connection is never dropped. Even in those few places where minor issues occur, software updates resolve them, making maintenance and repair very straightforward. Starlink is even less expensive than traditional KA band services, which have very high subscription rates and data caps and are, therefore, restrictive – a word that does not bode well for the private jet passenger experience.
In fact, Starlink offers speeds of up to 135 kbps versus the best KA and KU bands, which usually provide only 20 kbps. Passengers on Starlink can stream online gaming and watch their favorite Netflix series, something impossible on other platforms.
However, Starlink also has restrictions. It does not have an aviation-only service to support it, so the aircraft competes for bandwidth with consumer and maritime customers, elevating concerns about congestion in heavy traffic locations. Its acceptability in several countries is also still problematic. For instance, a few pilots from
Continued on Page 15
Continued from Page 14
international operators I have talked to want first to know whether Starlink will provide seamless coverage everywhere before considering the option. That will take some time.
One of the other limitations is Starlink’s incompatibility with some aircraft cabin management systems (CMS). Operators have reported that passengers cannot adjust CMS functions such as lighting and temperature control from their devices while connected to Starlink. Although this can be addressed by maintaining the KA band or using another device for CMS, it adds another complexity to the decision-making process.
KA and KU band: The proven powerhouses
KA, KU, and Satcom systems have been the backbone of business aviation connectivity for decades. The KA band is significantly enhanced by newer schemes like the EVO series, which offer higher data allowances and speeds at reasonable costs.
For those who have already installed the KA band, a big question is whether to upgrade to Starlink. Some consider KA adequate when traveling abroad, particularly for non-streaming applications. Although its latency is poorer than Starlink’s, it’s still a reliable workhorse, especially among corporate customers who prefer stability over raw speed.
Additionally, the KA band is still ahead regarding service agreements and regulatory approval, which is important when traveling internationally. While Starlink continues to grow in certain nations, KA band suppliers have enjoyed years of long-term relationships with aviation regulators worldwide, making the process seamless regardless of the flight route.
Yet a major drawback is the potential for hardware upgrades. Bombardier, for example, still fits the first generation of Honeywell Aerospace’s JetWave systems, which must be upgraded to take advantage of the newer JetWave X capability. Upgrades translate into additional costs and installation downtime that operators must factor in.
Hybrid solutions: The best of both worlds?
Others are seeking a hybrid approach, considering the pros and cons of both systems. By adding Starlink to a conventional KA/KU band system, aircraft can enjoy high-speed, low-latency internet with a backup link in the event of coverage or regulatory limitations.
I’m aware that some operators have succeeded in combining Starlink with the Satcom Direct Router, which offers more integrated connectivity solutions.
This configuration has a slight slowdown (about 25%), but performance is still reasonable compared to single KA or KU band solutions.
A second hybrid solution I’ve heard from some mechanics is using Gogo’s ATG network for domestic and KA band for international flights. This solution offers the best performance by operational requirements, with the drawback of managing several subscriptions and hardware.
The business aviation industry can expect even more competition in the inflight connectivity segment. Gogo’s Galileo, which will launch later this year, is wellpositioned to be another force to contend with alongside Starlink. With its high speed, low latency, and expected price competitiveness, Galileo is yet again poised to alter the ecosystem.
For now, the decision between Starlink and the KA/ KU band depends on what one operator needs. If cutting costs and quick streaming are the highest priorities, Starlink is a compelling option. However, the KA band remains a good alternative for anyone needing reliability, regulatory acceptance, and CMS compatibility.
As more private jets are equipped with Starlink and other KA band solutions in the pipeline, it will be exciting to see how inflight connectivity shapes the future of business aviation. One thing is certain: there has never been a greater choice for operators and passengers than there is today, so it’s an exciting time for the industry.
Pilot, president, and founder of Icarus Jet, a leading global trip support and aircraft management company, Kevin Singh has flown globally as a chief pilot and captain on private jets like the Hawker 800-A and 850 XP, and the Challenger 600 series and Global 6000.
