Also, that the connection between them becomes employer and hired labor. This day soon became known as “Juneteenth” a verbal shorthand for June 19th . Slavery in the United States was formally abolished with the ratification of the 13th Amendment on December 6th in 1865. IPM: Can you share with us about you and what inspired your career choice?

DR. SHELLIE: I am a dedicated mother to my two beautiful children and I am very passionate about inspiring and empowering the women of the world. I was a teacher of special needs children who then went on to be an assistant principal, and then a tenured professor for a decade. My heart was called to not just teach within the four walls of the classroom, but rather to make the world my classroom. I adore educating and entertaining from the stage for audiences in places such as Mexico and the University of Oxford in England and here in the states including Harvard University and Passions to Profits in Hollywood. Wherever there is a stage and an audience to connect with

through word or song I love to express myself and to use my voice for the voiceless and to raise up other women.

IPM: As a Global Empowerment coach, CEO of Inspiring Lives, Executive Director of Global Sisterhood, Editor in Chief of Inspiring Lives Magazine, author, keynote speaker, and soon a partner of CEO Mom Global, what inspired you to get started in women empowerment and helping other entrepreneurs?

DR. SHELLIE: It all started with the story of one woman, which opened my mind up to the profound and impactful inspirational stories that need to be told to the world. Since then, I have had the opportunity to collect the stories of over a thousand women in print, on stage, and on camera. By spotlighting their amazing stories and

coaching them towards their best lives and careers, I have had the opportunity to not only lift them up but to be a catalyst for change and transformation in communities internationally. By working with and connecting women leaders and entrepreneurs, I am able to do my part to help the greater good.

IPM: Can you share with us what you do as a Global Empowerment Coach?

DR. SHELLIE: I adore being a Global Empowerment Coach because I have witnessed the power of providing resources, networking, and my curriculum to help women leaders rise up and find inspiration, empowerment, balance, and abundance. I have three levels of coaching that I do:

1) Expert Level (which is a video series) on how to be seen as the expert in your field through social media, marketing, authoring a bestselling book, and branding;

2) EmpowerU Master Class (which is an my seven-week proven curriculum) which is run in a cohort of powerful women leaders and includes the Empowerment Journal, 1:1 Onboarding as we activate your Action Plan, and weekly classes both in video and in Zoom with the whole group;

3) World Class VIP Experience (which is an incredible get-away for a one-on-one private coaching experience) that is completely tailored for the professional woman who is ready to level up even higher. This is often at a resort with a spa and it is a fantastic way to make your dreams happen while engaging in the self-care that you deserve.

IPM: Can you give us a sneak peek at your next new goal?

DR. SHELLIE: Here is the scoop on my next big creative project This past year, I released my vocal single from the hit Broadway show Chicago “And All That Jazz”. Many internationally downloaded it from iTunes and Spotify and there was quite a buzz about the song. I am now working with fabulous Hollywood music producer and vocalist Romina Arena to craft incredible original songs and a dynamic cover song. The music will be tailored for my voice and deep alto vocal style.. I can’t wait to present the new songs to audiences and through a variety of media!

IPM: What is the Global Sisterhood?

DR. SHELLIE: Global Sisterhood 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization which helps women and children throughout the world. As the Executive Director, I lead the Executive Board of Directors in initiatives to supports women in need throughout #PopUpGiving program wherein women and organizations come to the Global Sisterhood for help. Through Charity Partnerships, the Global Sisterhood supports a wide variety of important nonprofits with missions that help women in the areas of domestic violence, homelessness, poverty, single mothers, disabilities such as autism, illiteracy, and much more. A few of the vital initiatives that have been guided and helped garner funds are all led by women leaders

who received

Master Class. Some of these initiatives and movements in countries around the world include but are not limited to:

· Nepal: Dr. Meena has helped teach over 80,000 women and children how to read and write; plus, the town has clean water from a well that was needed so that the women no longer have to walk hours daily for water.

· Pakistan: Sister Zeph transformed her school for children into a brick and mortar learning environment from dirt floors in a courtyard and the school serves the academic,

international scholarships for our signature EmpowerU

transformed the lives of the women in the U.S. that have been supported through the Global Sisterhood. Learn more at: www.GlobalSisterhoodOnline.org

IPM: Can you share with us a day in your life as the Executive Director of the non-profit organization Global Sisterhood and the Editor in Chief of Inspiring Lives Magazine?

DR. SHELLIE: It really depends on the day. I am often fielding requests for #PopUpGiving. Or supporting our Charity Partnerships that are in need. At times, my Executive Board is planning a big fundraiser such as the Global Gala and Mastermind. Monthly, we publish Inspiring Lives Magazine which is now a digital publication supported by the Global Sisterhood that spotlights empowering women through powerful articles on topics that touch a woman’s heart ranging from Food and Travel to inspirational stories of hope. social, entrepreneurial, and health related goals of the students.

· South Africa: Haseena and Shameena have been supported in her Empowerment Circles for teenaged girls and connections with other leaders internationally; also, the leadership school was created to help the young women rise up with the support of their mentors.

· Africa: Kemi has been leading our entrepreneurial college to women to thrive with their own successful businesses.

· Afghanistan: Sadiqa is the leader of a university who is working to educate over a thousand women who are no longer able to attend college due to new gender laws and we are working with her to help support her creating the Infrastructure for her online university.

In the states, multiple projects have occurred that have

IPM: What inspired you to become a Keynote speaker? Was it someone you met, or a message you desperately wanted to share?

DR. SHELLIE: I have been speaking on stages around the world for the last two decades because I have a mission and a drive to inspire and empower. I love to entertain and engage the audience in my talks. I am always thrilled when women come up to me afterwards with their stories, a big hug, and a thank you. After all, as I have had as my tagline for years, “Inspiration is just a story away!”

IPM: Can you share with us what you do and talk about as a Keynote speaker?

DR. SHELLIE: I like to find out who my audience will be and what they are seeking from the talk and tailor my keynote to meet those needs. I often act out stories, interview experts from the stage, and I have sung on many stages as well. I called upon to discuss from the stage: women empowerment, entrepreneurship, building your dream business and brand, and more. I like to tell stories that connect with the audience’s hearts and minds.

IPM: As an author of 13 books, what was your favorite book you wrote, and why?

DR. SHELLIE Ball Gowns to Yoga Pants: Entrepreneurial Secrets for Creating Your Dream Business and Brand is a book that is transforming lives and businesses. However, the Common Threads trilogy on Inspiration, Empowerment, and Balance is definitely near and dear to my heart. The three books were based on interviews with 100 of the most inspirational women who I interviewed on my Empowering Women Radio show. They all became dear friends and many are founding members of the Global Sisterhood!

IPM: As a Global Empowerment Coach, can you share with us a little piece of advice you give to some of your clients that you feel best helps them?

DR. SHELLIE: You must be able to visualize - and then take positive action-steps toward that which will bring you the most joy - so that you can manifest your dreams.

IPM: As we noticed that your 13th award winning international bestselling book is tiled, “Ball Gowns to Yoga Pants: Entrepreneurial Secrets for Creating Your Dream Business and Brand”, how did you get started with the idea of the book?

DR. SHELLIE: When I transitioned from power suits in the university classroom to my nonprofit and entrepreneurial life, my daughter noticed. She said that I now wear ball gowns for charity events and I run around with my kids in tow in yoga pants making deals on my phone. Hence, that was the obvious title for my book for entrepreneurs to create their own dream businesses and brands! And I have a new book coming out on Amazon Prime...Speak Up! Dr. Shellie Hipsky: Ball Gowns to Yoga Pants (Based on my award-winning best selling 13th book of the same name) "Inspiration is just a story away!"

IPM: Can you give us a little glimpse into your new partnership with CEO Mom Global with Dr. Hoa Nguyen?

DR. SHELLIE: I am in the process of creating CEO Mom Global with Dr. Hoa Nguyen which is a movement for mothers who lead both their homes and businesses. As Mom-preneurs, we face unique challenges and desire a community and the resources to help support our ventures as the “Chief Everything Officers” in our lives!

Dr. Hoa and I met when we were both speaking on the stage in Vegas. She approached me after I spoke and we instantly knew that we would work together on a big project one day. We recently went to Nemacolin Resort and Spa with a camera crew and photographer. Poolside, we plotted out the entire curriculum for CEO Mom Global and then we got to work filming and creating a very powerful curriculum and resources for mothers who lead that should be available in the fall.

I am very excited to work with Dr. Hoa because of her background as an eye doctor, business woman, top real estate investor, and amazing mother! Watch my social media for more information as it becomes available!

IPM: Being an entrepreneur in your field, how are you able to manage to be a Global Empowerment Coach, CEO of Inspiring Lives International, Executive Director of a non-profit organization Global Sisterhood, Editor in Chief of Inspiring Lives Magazine, author of 13 books, Keynote speaker, and partner with Dr. Hoa Nguyen on CEO Mom Global with your family and life?

DR. SHELLIE: I am extremely passionate about all of my pursuits. I am blessed that I discovered ways that I can monetize what I love to do and serve the needs of my amazing clients while taking care of my family at the same time. I have a great team and I recognize the need for self-care plus delegation so that I don’t burn out with all that I do daily.

IPM: What obstacles have you faced in pursuit of being an entrepreneur, coach, Executive Director, Editor in Chief, Keynote Speaker, bestselling author, and being a mom? How do you manage it all? What keeps you motivated with all you do?

DR. SHELLIE: I have experienced many obstacles from trusting the wrong people to having to pivot during Covid times. However, I manage it all (even as a single mom to two teenagers) by truly loving what I do. I know my kids are watching me. They pick up on my work ethic, my love for helping others, and that I make quality time for them and their needs. I saw my own parents demonstrate love in combination with working hard, first hand and it definitely affected the way that I run my home and business.

IPM: Do you have an important message you would like to share with our readers?

DR. SHELLIE: Know your worth. Never settle for less than you deserve. Dream big… and then take it up a notch! And always keep #FamilyFirst!

IPM: What’s the best piece of advice you have received that you would like to share with others?

DR. SHELLIE: Seek out a great mentor or coach who walked the path you want to walk one day and learn all that you can from them.

IPM: What is something being a mom taught you, and how do you carry that knowledge throughout your everyday life?

DR. SHELLIE: Being a mom confirmed for me that everyone learns and loves in their own unique way. We must have patience and meet people where they are with their emotions, dreams, and lives. Dr. Jeanine Blackburn and I received a US Patent for Differentiated Design for adult learners based on similar practices for children in the classroom. I knew how this worked in practice with teaching and coaching. However, it's different when you raise your own children and have the joy of watching them grow and explore the world in their own ways. It's a blessing that I get to work with so many different types of women and children internationally. Daily, as a mom-preneur, I get to watch my own children blossom into their best selves as well. I am eternally grateful for being able to be a CEO Mom!

By now you have all heard the statistics, read the reports, and felt the pain of one of the biggest challenges facing leaders today – retaining talent. In today’s constantly shifting marketplace, leaders are struggling with how to find talent, develop talent and keep their talent long-term.

Think about this, in just one month – November of last year –more than 4.5 million people left their jobs. Add to that Gallup, one of the leading research firms, reports that 70-percent of employees today are disengaged. Meaning they are willing to fill out a survey that says they are uninterested, checked out, and only showing up because they get a paycheck. In addition, one in three employees today leave their job because they are bored, and 57-percent of employees leave because of their boss. So, what can we learn from all of these depressing statistics? Talent is a huge issue for companies today, employees are not leaving their jobs because they do not want to work, or they do

5 Strategies to Turn the Great Resignation into Your Greatest Opportunity

1. Purpose – according to DDI, the largest motivator for employees (39%) is having a sense of purpose. In other words, do they understand what your company is trying to do, the impact it makes, and most importantly their role in it.

2. Ownership – coming in second, according to DDI (20%), is ownership. No, we are not talking stock options or a piece of your company. They just want to help you grow it, and help you achieve the purpose. How? They want a voice, they want to be asked, listened to, and heard.

not need a job. No, employees are leaving because they are looking for something else. They believe there is something better out there.

That is key to understand, because if you are looking to find talent by promoting the job you offer than you are missing the mark. Today’s employees can find a job, which is not their issue, not what they are looking for.

They are looking for opportunities that offer so much more than a solid job description, benefits, and PTO. Employees are looking for an environment where they feel like they are making a difference, they are doing work that matters and they are part of something bigger than themselves.

If you want to attract top talent today, if you want to retain top talent today, then you need to stop focusing on the job descriptions and list of benefits and start focusing on your culture. The experience you offer to your employees.

3. Performance – you expect your employees to invest in your company, but you need to ask yourself first are you investing in them? Actively support their performance, and helping employees get better at their job, and create a future for themselves tells employees yours is a company worth investing in.

©byMeridithPowell

4. Conditioning – uncertainty and change make employees, heck all of us, feel out of control and fearful of the future. So, companies that embrace change, and prepare their employees for change, tell employees we have a plan, we have a strategy, and you are a part of that plan.

5. Innovation – employees know that it is the organizations that are continually improving that will be the ones that not only continue to thrive, and those with future career opportunities. So as leaders, you need to create a culture where you collaborate with your team to consistently innovative. New ways, new ideas, and new strategies to work smarter, better, and more productively.

As leaders, you need to stop looking at the Great Resignation as a negative and see the incredible opportunity in it. If you are the employer that provides an amazing culture, one where team members are invited to engage, one where employees feel like they are a part of what you are trying to accomplish, and they see a future for themselves, you will not only have the talent you need but you will have the best and brightest beating a path to your door.

I’ve found that, rather than fight a problem, make excuses, or blame others I wonder, “What is the lesson to learn?”

What is MY lesson to learn here?

So, rather than continue struggling (doing the same thing over and over…), how might I respond to a situation like this?

What if the problem was ME?

For now, let’s say, “Yes.”

Ok, how can I become a student of my situation?

I’ll illustrate with a simple example by way of a true story of when I was speeding on Highway 280 in Northern California.

Seeing the flashing red lights in my mirror one night was a shock I was speeding.

But, why get busted now?

Nevertheless, I figured that I had about two minutes between now and when the highway patrolman would walk up…

No time to freak out, make up an excuse, become righteously indignant All, usually, a waste of critical time.

In that two minutes, I perceived that this was a fairly loud message from the Universe.

And, if I didn’t learn from this lesson, the next lesson would be louder, perhaps more painful and likely more expensive. Ergo, this is a learning moment (Albeit an emergency learning moment.)

What’s the lesson I need to get right now so the Universe doesn’t need to escalate this message any further?

Two minutes…

Before the CHP officer is at my window asking the proverbial question:

“Do you know why I pulled you over?”

OK, why did he pull me over? Because I was speeding. Why was I speeding? Because I was late. Why was I late?

Because I was procrastinating leaving. Why was I procrastinating leaving?

I didn’t really want to go. Why was I going?

Because I told a friend I would. Why did I tell my friend that I would go?

I didn’t want to disappoint them in the moment. Ugh! WTF?

Two minutes are up…

The CHP officer is now at my window: “Do you know why I pulled you over?”

These guys have heard it all, so why BS him, besides I knew why he was there

“Yes, I was going 80 miles an hour. And I’ve learned something…”

Oddly enough, in my moment of new enlightenment, I replayed the above analysis to him.

One aspect of this lesson here is to be ruthlessly honest in the moment with yourself as well as the person when you choose whether or not to make the agreement!

I had “wimped-out” in that moment, accepting my friend’s invitation.

And look at how I compensated for it and the trouble it caused.

© by Burke Franklin

That’ll never happen again.

If anything, I deserved a ticket for my deeper unconsciousness (stupidity).

I told the officer that too.

I believed it and, apparently, he did too.

He gave me back my license and registration with a, “Sounds like you learned your lesson, drive carefully.”

Whew!

“Thank you very much!” I replied.

What worked here, I believe, is my complete authenticity in and with the situation.

My sincere interest in discovering the lesson and expanding-toinclude it in my life.

Also my respect for the CHP officer as a person and as my personal messenger from the Universe.

He wasn’t there to ‘hassle’ me, he was sent as the louder message from the Universe.

For the get-out-of-jail-free card to work, you must truly get to the bottom of the Lesson YOU need to Learn. Demonstrate that you got the message this time and won’t need to be warned again.

(As a Pastor once told me, “You can’t BS God.”)

This wasn’t really about speeding, it was about giving up my power when making an agreement I didn’t want to keep.

If I ignore this lesson, it will get louder This was but one of many times I’ve “gotten the message,” and learned from it, because in the past, I have observed how the messages have escalated until I got them.

Another, more important lesson within this lesson…

It’s the idea that if and when you’re in a situation where things are going wrong or they’ve been chronically unsatisfactory for some time that perhaps you are in a situation akin to my speeding situation… perhaps there’s a lesson in it for you

When things aren’t going right, before you try to solve it, acknowledge that there’s a possibility that there’s a lesson in this situation that the Universe wants you to learn.

You cannot “Pass GO and Collect $200” if/when the Universe is creating a situation for you to learn a lesson.

There’s no one to blame, no excuses needed, nothing to explain. (Few people actually want to listen to any of that drama BS anyway..) It’s all you. Anyway

There must be a lesson to learn here. What is it?

You may not be able to come up with the answer right away but as you start solving it, think of every action you take, every thought you have is like a Zen master or martial artist studying each move, considering how it contributes to the whole. “Wax on. Wax off.” (~ Karate Kid)

What’s your problem, what is not working they way you want it to? Why is this happening to you now?

Regardless of who else is involved or other circumstances What might the Universe want you to learn in this situation?

Get to the bottom of it and it might just go away as fast as a speeding ticket.

Something almost magical happened as the words of these women went viral at EmpoweringWomenRadio.com. Others started taking notice. One such lady from Pakistan wears a veil and lives in a male dominated society. In a land where many women are denied education she has a master’s degree. Many are not allowed to be employed and she works as a women’s rights activist through SAWERA. Although she lives in a part of rural Pakistan where women are barred from making their own decisions, she decided to reach out to the United States-based Empowering Women Radio. Hena Gul listened to Dr. Shellie’s interview with “Empowered Girl Empowered World” conference leader Haseena Patel in South Africa. It is through Haseena that Dr. Shellie Skypes in to schools to work with Power Circles of teenage girls in South Africa. Hena reached out to Empowering Women Radio and she was introduced to ladies with similar missions. After she bonded with Dr. Shellie and connections were formed with incredible women around the world, Hena created the phrase a “Global Sisterhood” for what we are experiencing through Empowering Women.

For years, The Global Sisterhood has taken need requests from local, national, and international women through our Charity Partnerships and we find ways to support each other. When a need request comes in, and after it is properly vetted through our Executive Board of Directors, if we determine that it’s a problem that needs our help that we can take on, we become like family for The Global Sisterhood. We pull our resources of time, money and, talent and we fundraise through events such as the Empowering Women in Philanthropy Awards. Over a thousand women strong, we make a way to support the needs of our “family” near and far.

Looking for some powerful anxiety coping mechanisms? Here’s a list of the ones I love, plus the system I use to stop anxiety at the root.

As a personal and professional development coach, I work with a lot of high-achieving and accomplished women – the kind of women who go after big goals and wildest dreams. Inevitably, they’re also dealing with some stress and anxiety, too, as they overcome blocks and fears to go after their most ideal life.

And that’s exactly what I help them navigate through. But anxiety isn’t the same for everyone. Sometimes anxiety is situational, and other times it can be caused by a chemical imbalance or a more pervasive anxiety disorder.

My best tips and advice can help support anyone who’s experiencing anxiety, but if you’re working with a more serious imbalance or disorder, then I recommend additional support, such as a therapist, counselor or medical professional.

What I help people with is the kind of anxiety that comes into everyone’s life – the stress that comes with external situations, events and triggers.

Create An Anxiety Action Plan

In my coaching programs, this is one of the first things I do with clients who are experiencing anxiety – and it works! In fact, my clients love this simple yet practical approach that stops anxiety in its tracks.

Since it’s a personalized approach to your anxiety triggers, it’s a good idea to revisit this plan often, and make adjustments or add new strategies whenever you need to. After all, you’re changing and evolving all the time, and so should your approach to anxiety.

That’s what I love about this practice. It provides a framework, instead of a one-size-fits-all solution. It gives you the flexibility you need to find relief from any situation or trigger.

But, as with any tool, you have to actually work it

© by Melissa Hull

1. Acknowledge It

The first step to managing an anxious moment is to acknowledge it. In fact, you’d be surprised how much relief you can feel instantly by giving it voice and space to breathe.

So just say it: This situation is not ideal. It’s causing me stress. I’m scared of a potential negative outcome that’s looming in the distance.

Next, try to acknowledge the trigger or source of the anxiety. What caused a disruption to your inner peace? Did an event or person bring up trauma from the past? Is there something you’re afraid of?

Often, when we’re stressed or anxious, that means we’re also seeing things from a place of emotion, and our judgment may even be clouded. It’s like having blinders on, and you just cannot see a new perspective on your situation.

In these moments, my clients find the support of a coach to be incredibly helpful. Sometimes we need a partner to support us as we identify the anxieties we feel inside – and the triggers that come from outside

2. Explore It

The next step in combating anxiety is the willingness to explore it. In my experience, the most effective way to do that is by asking the right questions.

Reflective inquiry is a process that allows you to look at things differently, with a fresh perspective. It prompts you to let go of the emotions and thinking patterns that keep you stuck. Often we think it’s an external problem that’s disrupting our inner peace, when it’s really a signal to look inward for the answers and resources that will help us recalibrate back to peace.

This is where a skilled coach can help you explore deeper and become your thinking partner, someone who can hold space while guiding you toward your own inner resources. Someone who can disrupt the old patterns and behaviors that are preventing you from moving forward.

Reflective inquiry is not only an incredible tool to find your right answers, but it’s also my specialty as a coach. I see the transformation it sparks, and I encourage you to reach out if you need support!

3. Take Responsibility For It

Once you have a clear understanding of your triggers and their root causes, it’s time to take action and address it. I think this is where we tend to overcomplicate things. We feel like it has to be complex, but this step is actually quite simple.

You have to make the conscious choice to change, to do something differently, to use a tool, to practice a new stress-reduction technique – anything that allows you to create a new and different outcome.

But you actually have to do it.

And don’t forget that the right tool might be different depending on

the situation or trigger. So try to be flexible. You don’t have to be rigid in your response to stress. Try simply being curious, and see what next step feels good.

Remember, taking action to quiet the anxiety in your mind is an act that strengthens your resilience and helps you build that muscle for the future, too. It gets easier the more you practice it.

4. Workshop It

Taking action to address your anxiety at the root will most likely make you feel much better. Regardless of how effective your strategies are, however, don’t skip this crucial final step – because this is where the deeper learning truly lies.

You see, when I work with my clients, this is where we create a plan to cope with future anxious situations just like this one. As you learn what works and what doesn’t, you apply that experience by creating a plan for the future.

For example, if you’re anxious about another confrontation with a coworker who constantly presses your buttons, then you might make a plan to excuse yourself from the situation as soon as you start to feel your heart rate quicken or your chest heat up. Take action by practicing 15 minutes of breathwork in a private space, before responding to your coworker. With this plan in place, you know exactly what the trigger looks like, how you’re supposed to respond, and what action to take once you feel better.

When you can make a plan and carry it out, then you can also look back and reflect on how effective (or not) it was, which strengthens your resolve in the process and your confidence in the future. It’s a personalized plan to your specific triggers that only gets more effective over time.

If you really want to see quick and transformative results, a coach can help with this process by identifying blind spots, suggesting additional solutions, and holding you accountable to the process.

Anxiety Coping Mechanisms & Tools

I believe the process above is the best way to address anxiety at the root cause and see positive results across the board. But I also wanted to provide some tools that can help in the moment – different practices, tools and techniques you can add into your personalized anxiety plan, depending on what works best for you

So let’s dive into some of my favorite anxiety coping mechanisms.

Basic Self-Care

First and foremost, you should consider your health if you’re dealing with consistent anxiety flare-ups and stress. Maintaining a healthy mind, body and soul will help bring down your baseline stress levels and make you feel stronger and better able to deal with stress when it comes.

If you’re experiencing anxiety, take a look at these basic health indicators:

• Exercise – Physically move your body to shake off an anxious mood, and start producing happy hormones and chemicals in the body.

• Nutrition – Nourishing your body from the inside out will help your natural healing systems kick into gear. Likewise, limit anxiety-inducing food and drinks, such as caffeine and sugar.

Sleep – When you’re drained and exhausted, you don’t

have the energy to put your tools to work, and you’re more likely to succumb to emotion. Prioritize sleep if you want to put your best foot forward.

Physical Tools

Once you’ve made health a priority, you might want some physical tools to bring down your daily anxiety levels. Sometimes a tangible tool that you can hold in your hand will help ground you, especially if you’re a high-energy person with a fast mind.

Here are a few tools my clients and I enjoy:

• Fidget spinners
Fidget rings and jewelry
Pop it blocks
Stress balls
Weighted blankets

Stress Reduction Techniques

When anxiety is at its worst, rely on these stress reduction techniques to help you gain control of your nervous system and stop fear from taking over. These anxiety coping mechanisms are great tools to use when stress starts feeling more like panic.

• Breathwork – There are a lot of variations on breathing techniques, and I think it’s best to find a style that works for you. But when in doubt, take 3-5 slow deep breaths for instant relief.

• Sensory Techniques – When the brain is busy fixating on a stressful situation, it helps to distract it. You can do that by engaging your senses with the 3-3-3 rule. Simply name three things you can see, three things you can smell, and move three different body parts. This brings you back to your senses when you can’t get control of racing thoughts.

• Journaling – When you’re not sure what’s going on, but you just know you don’t feel right, then I recommend journaling. The page will always reveal what the mind is trying to hide.

• Meditation – This is another great tool for when you feel lost, overwhelmed or like you’re losing control. Find a quiet, private space where you can sit, and feel the weight of your body sinking into the ground. Breath deeply and try to clear your head. Chances are the answers will pop into your mind as soon as you give it a moment of peace.

• Temperature – When you change your body temperature, you’re engaging your senses again and bringing attention back to the physical body. I suggest a warm bath because the water is soothing, and you can add some calming essential oils like lavender or rose.

Social Support

– Sometimes it seems like none of the typical tools are working on their own. That’s when I like to phone a friend. Call someone you can trust to help you shake things off, see a different perspective and feel supported from the outside in.

The Bottom Line

There’s no quick fix for any of this. Practice makes progress. The more intention and awareness you build into your anxiety responses, the better results you’ll see. And as you strengthen these muscles, it will get easier and easier to reach for your tools, even in the toughest of moments. That’s how you teach yourself to work through difficult things, overcome struggle, and rise in the face of challenges.

I don’t think any one of us will ever reach a point where we never feel anxiety again, but there is hope – and there is help. It’s my hope that these anxiety coping mechanisms are a starting point.

Ready For More Support?

If you keep hitting the same walls without success, then it might help to have support from someone who’s been there. Sometimes all it takes is the accountability, encouragement, and support of another person who understands what you’re going through –and everything changes.

If you feel like you need the support of a friend, coach, or community, then please know that I’m always here for you. And if you like these anxiety coping mechanisms, you can learn more about my programs and community, or reach out just to talk.

I don’t think any of us transforms our thinking and behaviors on our own. We learn from others, lean on others, and find motivation in bettering ourselves for the people we love.

Plus, we see progress so much more quickly and efficiently when someone else is invested in our progress, too. Instead of taking one step forward and two sweets back, let’s just take one step at a time – in the right direction.

The single, most important responsibility leaders have is to decide who will be part of their team, that is, to hire the right people for the right job. Think about your best employee, say Veronica, and about what makes her be the best. Now think what your business, your team and your quality of life would be if you had nothing but Veronicas in your team.

The second, most important responsibility leaders have is to provide that team with the right environment, one that builds strong, emotional connections between the individual and the brand’s values, mission and vision. This will then translate into positive customer experiences, which translates into repeat business and will ultimately grow profitability.

So if the formula for success is so simple (hire, retain and develop the right people), why is it so hard to execute?

Perhaps because the above assumes a strong leader to begin with. One that aims not for minor, incremental improvement but one who constantly sets the bar as high as where the best member of the team can reach it (which then becomes the standard for all the team). A leader who is constantly looking for and then developing the Veronicas out there.

Leadership is our ability to impact others to do things they did not know they were capable of doing. It means creating a mindset of “it can be done,” and moving away quickly from mediocrity. It moves moving out the bad apples that affect the group, and creating an environment that promotes growth.

It also means having the commitment to create a positive culture of appreciation. For every accountability process they have in place, strong people leaders also have reward and recognition practices

that are just, if not more, intense.

So back to the question. If the formula for success is so simple, why is it so hard to execute?

A game-changing leader is one who does not shy away from making the tough calls. One who constantly defines reality and ensures everyone on the team knows exactly where they stand in the eyes of the organization, so they can become better (Check-ins). Change begins with awareness. And good leaders help others understand their strengths and their development opportunities.

Realism is the heart of execution. Unfortunately more times than not, we shy away from it or we “sugarcoat” performance. Only by defining the reality of the capabilities of everyone in our team, will we be able to put the right plans for the right people.

Winning requires that you define reality and make the tough calls. We are not leaders to win a popularity contest; we are leaders to remove barriers and lead others to success. Remember, you are not running for office, you are already elected.

Leaders are not those who reward solely on progress, but those that enable what needs to be done to achieve success.

And it all starts with whom we decide will be part of our team, and how we provide them with the environment that will motivate, engage and embrace their hearts and minds.

VEGAN FOOD

Seeing “vegan-certified" is considered synonymous with being healthy; however, some of the most overweight and unhealthy people I know follow a vegan diet. Being a vegan simply means not consuming any food or using products derived from animal sources. So, that means Oreo cookies and donuts fall into the vegan food category. Eating a fattening bowl of pasta for lunch and washing it down with two cokes is considered a vegan meal. Unfortunately, most vegan food contains added dyes, artificial sweeteners, chemical preservatives, and is loaded with inflammatory sugar. While most people consider going “vegan” as being a healthier option, if you want to eat a healthy diet that does not include animals, you’re better off adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet. There is a difference. Whole food plant-based foods come from plants and vegan foods are often manufactured in a plant.

Everyone wants a
and give people false hope, which can lead to frustration and a lack of self-worth. Here are six health gimmicks you should avoid:

DIET SOFT DRINKS AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS

This health gimmick has been around for ages! Americans spend $67 billion per year on artificial sweeteners. They are being duped into falling for marketing gimmicks like “sugar-free,” “guilt-free,” “no calories,” and “zero carbs.” The word “artificial” means it’s created by chemists in a laboratory. These sugar alternatives are formulated with an array of chemicals that can lead to imbalances in the body. Research shows artificial sweeteners cause fat accumulation in the body!

An 8-year study conducted by the University of Texas found that diet soft drinks containing artificial sweeteners increase the risk of obesity by 41% for every diet soft drink consumed. People who drink two or more diet soft drinks daily have a waist circumference 500 percent greater than those who drink none. Considering the average diet soft drink consumer 3-5 cans per day, this finding is staggering. Research published in Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism shows artificial sweeteners may increase the risk of weight gain, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and other related problems like Type 2 diabetes.

Instead, opt for natural sugar alternatives like Stevia, Monk Fruit, Xylitol, and Coconut Sugar.

GLUTEN-FREE

This is currently the biggest health gimmick. People see “glutenfree” on labels and believe it’s a healthier option. The truth is, most gluten-free bread, pasta, cereals, and baked goods have MORE calories than their gluten-containing counterparts. In addition, glutenfree snacks and baked goods are typically higher in refined carbohydrates, sugar, fat, and salt! Gluten-free foods are also lower in healthful nutrients like folate, thiamin, riboflavin, iron, and niacin.

This is because most wheat products are enriched with these nutrients and gluten-free flours typically are not.

What people are forgetting is that gluten-containing grains are good for us! Whole-grains offer fiber, healthy plant-based protein, and a variety of phytochemicals that help to improve our health. In May of 2017, the British Medical Journal published research that analyzed 100,000 subjects over a twenty-five-year period. They discovered that participants with the highest intake of gluten had a rate of heart disease significantly lower than those with the lowest intake of gluten. Additional research shows eating whole-grain bread lowers blood sugar surges and reduces colorectal cancer risk by 17 percent.

Unless you have a medical reason for following a gluten-free diet, don’t be duped into believing it's a healthier way to eat.

JUICE CLEANSES

This is a very popular detox and weight loss gimmick. It’s touted as a quick way to burn fat and remove life-threatening toxins from the gallbladder and liver. People are told to consume only vegetable and fruit juices and skip solid foods for seven to ten days (some health experts advocate doing a juice cleanse for a month!). While juicing is a delicious and refreshing option, it should not be a substitute for eating. We were designed to chew our fruits and vegetables, not drink them. Drinking our produce is not as nutritious as eating it. For example, if you eat an orange you get 30 MG of vitamin C, but if you drink orange juice made with that same orange the fluid will contain only 18 MG of vitamin C. Another example of the marked difference between juicing versus eating can be found when looking at the ORAC value (antioxidants measurement) of cranberries. The difference in ORAC measurement of raw cranberries is 9,090, compared to cranberry juice, which measures only 1,452.

Not eating any solid food and just drinking juice can certainly help you lose weight. However, it’s not sustainable. Once you start eating again, the weight will come right back. In addition, juice cleanses do not “clean the toxins from the liver and gallbladder.” If anything, because juice contains no fiber, the increased sugar spike can harm these organs.

MEAL REPLACEMENT SHAKES AND BARS

We need real food to be healthy, not shakes and bars. The word "supplement" means adding something to our food, not an alternative to eating. While the label may look impressive with that list of synthetic vitamins and minerals, it lacks vital antioxidants, enzymes, and phytonutrients (plant nutrients) that work synergistically with each other. Research shows meal replacement shakes and bars do not elicit comparable appetite and ingestive behavior responses and actually hinder the postprandial decline in hunger which subsequently increases food intake.

In addition, most weight loss/meal replacement shakes, and bars contain sugar or artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, flavors, stabilizers, hydrogenated oils, fillers, and preservatives. While some meal replacement shakes and bars do offer fiber, it’s considerably less than what is found in whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and legumes.

ANTI-AGING WRINKLE REMOVING CREAMS

One of the biggest health gimmicks out there is the skin creams that promise to make us instantaneously look younger. These products play on people’s fears and insecurities about how they look and feel. Manufacturers pay celebrities to endorse these products and people naively believe they will look like them if they buy these magic creams.

On my radio show, I’ve interviewed many of today’s worldleading dermatologists and plastic surgeons. They all agree, the skincare and cosmetic industry is shady and filled with a plethora of overpromises that underdeliver. If you're paying hundreds of dollars on creams that are promising to make you look better or younger overnight, you're probably being duped. While there are some proactive steps you can take to help reduce aging, it usually takes several weeks for a product to exert any positive effects on the skin. You'll have far better results with keeping a youthful appearance by washing your skin and face daily, applying sunscreen, and using a good moisturizer.

Why a growth mindset methodology would be considered as a foundation to building a stronger team culture? The reality is there really never was a foundation to begin with all at anyway. Many small to large businesses would cite traditional leadership and a talented staff that work effectively together. Fact is that since there was never a real foundation to begin with that has led businesses to operate in a codependent way with each other and their customers. Again, why would a growth mindset methodology being the answer as the foundation? Let’s first look at what growth mindset means.

Growth mindset is the understanding that abilities and intelligence can be developed. Dr. Carol Dweck, a professor of psychology is the pioneer of the term “growth mindset”. Her research over 30 years has changed how people can get smarter and accomplish amazing things when we believe we can and understand the effort to make it happen. This leads to higher achievement. Often, business leaders interpret a growth mindset when one is open minded and has a positive outlook. A growth mindset in reality is something we evolve with experience embracing a process and not just focused on the outcome. It means shifting from a competitive to a collaborative environment where businesses reward not just the effort and outcome but also the learning and progress. However, this does not mean either one because outcomes as a result of effort embraced within

the process do not happen without applying what is learned. Desired results following a growth mindset methodology are achieved with commitment to the process which includes applied knowledge and experience. Finally, mission or vision statements are something most businesses have but rarely execute in reality. This is because their true core values and principles are not in alignment with the organization. It is saying that your company is innovative but in reality is conservative taking little to no risk. Organizations that have a growth mindset foundation encourage on-going learning, risk-taking, and making mistakes to learn and grow. They reward their staff for important risks taken and lessons learned, even if the project did not meet its original goals. They understand the process has setbacks and challenges, but with commitment to these values and principles, they will prevail long term to do bigger and greater things. Businesses grow from a growth mindset methodology not just by what they say but through being the example.

So how do you develop a growth mindset? It starts at the individual level. It is an inside job that leads to external rewards long term and not the other way around. The foundation is built on core habits and disciplines that lead to clarity with thinking, communicating, and leading. This clarity leads to be more decisive such as risk-taking depicted above, and finally taking massive action. What are some of these core

habits and disciplines?

• Meditation

• Journaling

• Organizational task (ex. making your bed daily)

• Reading everyday

• Resistance / Cardio exercise routine

• Eating nutritionally dense foods

• Have daily specific systems and goals in place focused on priorities that matter first

• Taking some time each day to re-charge

The most important thing to remember with these habits and disciplines is “consistency”. Patterns that are positive cannot result from once in a while. They must be consistent. Business leaders can be the example of engaging in these habits and disciplines daily rather than just telling others how, when, and why to do it. Lead by example as the process and desired results are observed by others. This in timer helps to shift work environments from co-dependent to interdependent where everyone takes responsibility along with accountability for their tasks but yet can come together through collaboration to grow. Leading by example comes from empathy and kindness and not pleasing and enabling.

A growth mindset is always work in progress and embracing the process. It can truly be the foundation or anchor that empowers each individual to be responsible along with being accountable to find alignment in some way with their core values and principles with the organization. These individual efforts and work in progress coming from empathy, kindness, and leading by example can bring a stronger team together collaborating interpedently toward the business’s long term vision. It brings clearer role clarity & collaboration, support of one another, active listening with effective communication, and the ability to solve challenges and offset conflict more effectively.

Start today to see how a growth mindset methodology can be the new foundation for your business to build your value statement and align to your long term vision. It always starts with you and then coming together with other people to build new products and services that a make difference in our world.

Ugh. You’re obnoxious and offensive. Remove me from your email list!”

That was an email I received from someone I didn’t know last week. So what did I do?

Exhaled. Deleted contact. Sipped my coffee. Continued scrolling through Amazon.UK to order the English candy I love to treat myself to from home this time of year (plus a couple of good books – my spending achilles heel).

And that was it.

Emotional maturity is the most undramatic, quiet and self preserving quality that we earn with time, experience and some self-actualizing.

I’ve come to be a keen observer of it in others and I secretly salute it whenever I notice it – for it’s subtle elegance and ability to reveal the zen-like characteristic of the person exuding it.

It can be a bit like a random act of kindness performed by a stranger. It can be overlooked, even under-appreciated but it is still a beautiful act that blesses both the giver and the receiver. Here are some ways to identify maturity in yourself – something you may be casually overlooking and under-appreciating in yourself.

1. YOU’RE NON-REACTIVE

I adore how we can always react (or fail to react) to life’s circumstances. Whether it’s a rude remark, an ignorant comment or a passive aggressive colleague on another rant, emotional maturity manifests in a lack of interest in reactivity. Think of the energy saved! Happy sigh.

©by Susie Moore

2. YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED IN INTERPRETING THE ACTION OF OTHERS

My former colleague “Wayne” is constantly dissecting the words and actions of other people – his boss, his brothers, the dates who “ghost” him. I don’t know how he isn’t exhausted. Maturity is when you can let other people be and not read into every small thing that happens because, hey – you’re too busy doing you.

3. YOU DON’T CARE TO JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE

And you lose interest in how other people may be judging you. Because emotionally mature folks know that it’s not all about you and the world is not consumed with you, you, you. This includes not taking things personally, getting offended on a whim, or feeling the need to defend, prove or justify yourself.

4. YOU CAN LAUGH AT YOURSELF

We all love people who can laugh at themselves. People who can make a mistake and chuckle about it. People who have a sense of humor and don’t mind a joke at their own expense, cause heck – shouldn’t life be funny? It really doesn’t have to be so serious!

My friend Belinda is a pro at laughing at herself and as a result is a one of those true light-hearted people-magnets that everyone loves spending time with.

5. YOU CAN DELAY GRATIFICATION

Being emotionally mature is knowing you can’t always have what you want right now. And being ok with that. Putting work before play. Waiting till you have the money over credit-carding those boots, that vacation, those new skis. Delayed gratification and patience are solid maturity markers.

6. YOU’RE REGARD FOR WORRY SOUNDS LIKE, “WELL WHY?”

You can’t control a lot (the weather, the traffic, who your parents are) but you can control your level of fear and worry in the world. Worry is a wasted emotion. Maturity is replacing worrying with planning –“I’m worried I will lose my job, so I will get busy networking now!” – or a plain refusal to let your mental noise run your life.

For this reason I think meditation and emotional maturity have an incredible connection.

7.

YOU HAVE ZERO APPETITE FOR CONFLICT

Conflict and confrontation lose a place in your life as you have little need or desire to prove yourself. Namaste.

8. YOU TAKE 100% RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE

The most mature amongst us take ownership of our personal experiences. We know that we drive and shape our life’s outcomes – and there are no exceptions. And there is tremendous purpose, peace and power in that.

-Maturity begins when drama and dissatisfaction ends. What does emotional maturity mean to you? And what did this list reveal to you about yourself?

Ever since I took the time to actually learn how to use LinkedIn two years ago, I’ve been on an almost daily mission to build connections and relationships that matter and actually lead to business. It’s worked. Last year fully 70 to 80 percent of my business income came from LinkedIn leads and contacts. Those results have been noticed in the business community here in Las Vegas where I live. Although I don’t consider it my expertise, I’ve been asked to speak at several groups and workshops. No, I’m not changing my business focus away from books to become “The LinkedIn Queen.” But I like to share what’s working for me if it helps other entrepreneurs who want to listen.

A surprise I’ve discovered both in groups and when sharing what I know with individuals is how little people seem to want to truly connect with others. Real networking and relationships have been replaced with a single click. Hey, why actually welcome people when you can just click “like?” Why reach out a hand in friendship and collaboration when you can just click the “connect” button?

Last month I was the speaker at a weekly breakfast networking group I attend almost every Wednesday. I was asked to talk about my LinkedIn strategies. One item I shared is when looking at people who view your profile, a potentially good source of leads, don’t click the “Connect” button beneath their picture and name. That’s impersonal and cold. Instead go to their profile page, look it over and send a personal invitation to connect.

A woman in the group turned up her nose at the suggestion and grumbled unhappily as if it took far too much time and energy. I know her as a woman with a great deal of heart and a lot of compassion, so I was surprised by her reaction. I shot back, “Hey Debbie – it’s social media not clicking media. We’re supposed to be social!”

This time I got an eye roll in response as if that notion was distasteful. Everyone else at the long table chuckled as they finished their breakfast.

Earlier this week I received a message from a LinkedIn connection I didn’t recognize. He was inviting me to what sounded like a very chi-chi, high-falutin’ business networking event. He described several of the outstanding business owners and leaders who’ll be in attendance. I was tempted.

Then I read over his message again. It said something like he was impressed with my great accomplishments and credentials on my LinkedIn profile. Nice ego stroke, I suppose. However there was nothing personal in it. Nothing to give me even an inkling he actually looked at my profile. So I asked him, “What exactly were you impressed by?”

Many people would think it takes galloping chutzpah to ask that question. Well, I guess that’s just how I roll. I wanted to know:

• Was he authentically interested in building a professional relationship based on two people getting to know each other?

• Would I fit in at this event?

• Or was I part of a mass mailer and if I show up it’ll turn out to be a “business opportunity” meeting for the latest network marketing program? Later that day I got a reply from him. It said something like he was impressed by the fact that I’m dynamic and want to make a difference. Still absolutely nothing personal. Even when I called him out he skipped the opportunity look over my profile or my website. Apparently there’s no interest on his part. After the great recession with Wall Street tycoons who snookered us and all the lying, cheating politicians out there, trust has become huge on most people’s radar. Despite the kind invitation he did nothing to build trust and make me feel more comfortable. I’ve decided to skip this one

Social media is about being social. It’s about connecting and getting to know each other. It’s not about fake compliments and platitudes written to puff up the ego that apply to anyone and no one. No, I don’t pour my heart out to people I don’t know. That would be creepy. But when I acknowledge my contacts for taking a moment to view my profile I look at theirs and find something that resonates with me. I mention it in a thank you message to them. Then, I invite them to ask questions if they have an interest in what I do and how it might help them. According to Dr. Robert Chialdini author of “Influence,” that’s reciprocity in action, one of the strongest ways to create influence and stand out from the pack. There are probably hundreds of ways we can acknowledge others and their individual humanity Dale Carnegie said it almost a century ago A sincere compliment is one of the best ways to start a business connection. When it’s smarmy and generic it comes off as phony. When it’s personal and genuine it makes the other person’s day. They can’t stop thinking about the compliment and who took the time to say it.

I see articles on LinkedIn and elsewhere about clever ways to differentiate yourself and your business from the pack. People spend thousands of dollars and countless hours trying to figure out how to make a difference and create the wow factor. It takes more than just an artistic logo and a clever tagline. How about starting by treating people like human beings all appreciative of true personal connection?.

1. Be clear about your organization's Purpose

Digital transformation challenges the essence of every organization and its ability to compete in a market that is being profoundly changed by rapidly evolving societal expectations, enabled by advances in digital technology. This creates many challenges for incumbent leadership teams. Leaders must be clear about their organization's purpose. Without this clarity, the result is often a series of digitally enabled, small change initiatives that are not integrated, joined nor delivering against an overarching strategy. In this context , it is widely reported that 70% of digital transformations fail.

Key takeaway: Organizations with a strong sense of purpose are more effective at digital transformation.

2. Assess your digital maturity

Every organization should define what it means by digital transformation. Armed with a common language and understanding of digital transformation, leaders should assess their organization's digital maturity. In addition to the traditional change areas of people, process and technology, leaders should also measure digital maturity across strategy and customer experience. It is also pivotal to understand the organization's digital maturity relative to customers, existing competitors and would-be market disruptors. If your existing and would-be competitors are more digitally mature, and are providing the experience your customers expect, your organization is living on borrowed time. Leaders should be realistic about their starting point.

Key takeaway: Understanding digital maturity enables organizations to improve their competitiveness.

3. Focus on the how to

Organization

transform your

Digital transformation is as much about culture and mindset as it is about technology. Effective communication, understanding of customer journeys, designing end-to-end processes, encouraging employee collaboration, stimulating innovation, and creating insights from existing data are all in the scope of leadership. While digitalization can create new value, with digital transformation we are looking to strategically reinvent our organizations for the future. Our focus must be on how to transform. This requires clarity of purpose, coupled with an understanding of current and future customer needs. With this, leadership can determine the organization's future business model, requisite skillsets and overall transformation plan. This will inform the organization of its technology requirements, not the other way around.

Key takeaway: Future-focused leaders focus on the 'how' to enact transformation projects.

4. Ensure alignment and buy-in at every level

Leaders should collectively own and proactively show evidence of their collective commitment to the organization's vision and digital transformation plan. For digital transformation to succeed, everyone should understand what is required and what the proposed digital transformation will mean for customers, other stakeholders and employees alike. Digital transformation is not a one-off presentation to all employees. It requires effective and continuous communication and genuine engagement and involvement. Increasingly, it requires providing opportunities for re-skilling to equip employees to both embrace change and contribute effectively.

Key takeaway: Leadership sets the tone and advocates commitment to the organization's future vision. Listen to 'Developing a Strategic HR Vision with Jon Ingham' podcast

5. Stay the course: Change starts at the top

Leaders must embrace responsibility for digital transformation and demonstrate through their collective actions that they are committed to its success. This necessitates re-thinking how they act and govern, including demonstrating that digital transformation is front and centre in terms of priorities. Leaders should have clarity on their digital transformation roadmap. They should also revisit key performance indicators and metrics to create visibility of momentum. For digital transformation to flourish, a growth mindset, coupled with an open culture, is needed. It also requires a commitment from leadership to develop their own skills, and learn from younger digital native employees, to successfully lead their organizations digital transformation.

Key takeaway: Leadership should demonstrate, through their actions, that digital transformation matters.

What is BioHacking?

Biohackers are individuals who believe in experiencebased knowledge. Their mindset is, “Show me the research and then let me try it for myself.”

BIohacking is taking full control of your biology. If you’ve pursued ways to improve your health, that’s biohacking. But, it’s more than just putting butter in your coffee every morning or taking a daily vitamin. Biohacking is the desire to understand the body and mind you’ve been given and using everything at your disposal cuttingedge technology, tools, and science to become the best version of yourself.

Why Biohacking?

Biohacking is more than just reading mindless self-improvement tips. It is understanding the why behind how you’re feeling, thinking, and performing. Knowing the “why” empowers you to not only biohack your body, but to make impactful changes to your overall health and well-being. At LifeVantage, we live for finding the “why” through relentless research, experimentation, and technology.

Biohackers are individuals who believe in experience-based knowledge. Their mindset is, “Show me the research and then let me try it for myself.” Learn to pay attention to how you’re feeling. There is always something tangible that’s affecting your daily ability to be awesome. Instead of simply accepting aches, ailments, and exhaustion as part of growing old, start to question those setbacks. With the “biohacker mindset,” you’re not eschewing traditional medicine, you’re just figuring out what works best for you. You’re actively seeking out a healthier lifestyle. And for that, your future self will thank you.

With all this in mind, the real question you should be asking is why not biohack?
