4| Torture chamber of Mikuláš E5

300 years ago, any disobedience was punished hard. To get a confession, people would be tortured on flogging benches, racks or had their tongues pulled out with pliers. The exposition in the cold underground of the Museum of Janko Kráľ shows everything that the best-known Slovak bandit Juro Jánošík had to suffer before he was sentenced to death. 11| Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology

The only specialised museum of its kind in Slovakia (1,400 m2) presents precious exhibits – a prehistoric cult mask, a skeleton model of the cave lion, a meteorite model. It offers various special attractions for visitors who can crawl through a cave model or a bear den, find a fossil. There are many ski resorts easily accessible from Liptovský Mikuláš, including the biggest Slovak ski resort Jasná Nízke Tatry, family resorts Fun Park Žiarce Pavčina Lehota, Ski Opalisko Závažná Poruba, Žiar Dolinky.

The biggest tourist centres of the Liptov region are connected via SKI & AQUA BUSES (Liptov Region Card holders travel for free). To check the current bus timetable, use the Liptov mobile app, visit www.visitliptov.sk or ask in the Information centre and partner accommodation facilities.

Cross-country skiing, cyclotourism If there is enough snow, the 4.3 kmlong cycle route along the Váh river (between the bridges of Palúdzka and Okoličné) changes to a crosscountry skiing track. If the snow melts, cyclists come back to enjoy absolute peace. The route from the railway station to the Háj-Nicovô hill is popular as well.
