FASHION SNOOPS
INTRO ABOUT THIS GUIDE SS 24 is a season that attempts a much-needed course correction in a world full of imbalance and excess distractions. From finding solace through refocusing on time-honored craft and humble refinement, and embracing quirky flamboyance and playfulness, to working towards a grounded future where technology is human-centric, and seeking flexibility and freedom in our personal style, SS 24 is as much about innovation as it is time-honored tradition. MMGNET has partnered with creative futures agency FS (Fashion Snoops) to lead the way with an inspiring and informed look at what is happening for SS 24 in womenswear, from advanced to young contemporary markets. This guide is part of a larger program, including a digital session which will explore these concepts in more depth, as well as onsite presentations at MMGNET Group events. As a compliment to the upcoming trend events, this guide identifies the four overarching Design Aesthetics that will frame the season. Finding a way to align newness in design with consumer culture, these edited takeaways are meant to inspire and examine how each theme will influence color, silhouette, materials, print and pattern, and key items for the season ahead.

There’s a heightened awareness of humble refinement, or things that are just naturally splendid without trying too hard. CURIOSITY
SS 24 DESIGN AESTHETICS
There’s a remarkable new normal we’re learning to embrace: one in which the offbeat is present but refined; the everyday feels weird and wondrous; and hedonism comes out in humorous, playful ways. We strive to bring down the barriers of fantasy and whimsy, and create an off kilter reality for ourselves that puts the focus on things like textures that tickle our fancy and trompe l'oeil that tricks the mind. The result is a marvelous mix of natural surrealism, feminine flamboyance, and playhouse peculiarity.

CURIOSITY
The colors in Curiosity are a literal cabinet of oddities and quirks, with a full gamut of bizarre brights and pleasing pastels, and everything in between. Dimension-defying midtones like Pulp, Saffron, and Sumo Citrus look like something out of a surreal summer day, while Searing, Tart, and Pulse energize our everyday with childlike splendor. Java, Solemn, Pearlite, Breathless, Tile, Praline, Agril, and French Vanilla are balanced neutrals and pastels that make up most of the palette, but are also quieter in their influence than the extreme ends of

We seek flexibility to change our personal narrative, prioritizing things like optimized movement, meditative surfaces, enhanced performance, and reframing what it means to be strong or easygoing. This freedom introduces us to a refreshing transformation in not only lightness and weightlessness, and shifting stylistic roles, but also being more intimately engaged with nature, which continues to heal us as we dive deeper into its vitality and nourishment.

Fluid’s color palette is a lively, spirited expression of 21st century life—an experiment in surprising movement, high energy, and rule breaking. It’s full of sun-soaked, prism-inspired hues like Fresh, Solaria, Apricot, Sumo Citrus, and Saccharine that seem to sparkle in their softened intensity, and delicate tones like Celery, French Vanilla, Gossamer, and Sea Salt personify what sunlight and breezes would be as colors. There’s also a small, radiant grouping of aquatic brights like Pressure, Float, and Hyper Mint that amplify our daily dynamic,

Sheer dressing influences most categories from dresses and bottoms to tops, while occasion loungewear reinvents the matched set in flowy silhouettes. EVOLVE
We work to integrate technology and goodness–to bridge our most valuable lessons with prototypes of progress. We strive for a “betterverse” where the impact of innovation is somehow softened, in keeping with our wish to be rooted to our heritage. We also attempt to reinterpret tradition in a way that feels comfortable, soulful, and infused with necessary novelty. When it comes to design, new uses will emerge, smarter ways to do things unfold, and more meaningful ways to relate to our surroundings surface. It all manifests in a dreamy expression of the future that’s closer to the present than we realize.
